Newcastle Could be Interested In Spurs’ Danny Rose

If you believe the news in last Sunday’s People, then Newcastle are interested in Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

Danny Rose – 21 year-old left sided player

The 21 year-old Doncaster-born England U21 left sided player has played only a handful of times for Spurs, and has gained experience out on loan at Watford (7 appearances), Peterborough (6 appearances) and Bristol (17 appearances) over the last few seasons.

Danny joined the Leeds Youth Academy back in 2005, and joined Tottenham in July of 2007, for a reported transfer fee of around £1M.

Danny stands 5’8″ tall and  can play at left back or out on the left wing,  but he has seen precious little first team play at Spurs.

And that’s because Benoit Assou-Ekotto is the first choice left back and has been playing very well for a couple of seasons, and of course a certain Gareth Bale is the first choice left winger for Spurs, and is one of the best players in the Premier League.

Newcastle need to bring in a left foooted left back this summer, with the favorite seeming to be Erik Pieters of PSV, but Newcastle are always interested in younger players who are still to reach their peak, and they could well be interested in Danny Rose.

Danny has played for all the England Youth sides and has 21 caps at the England U21 level with 3 goals,  and he has made around 8 appearances for Spurs with one super goal against Arsenal last year on his Premier League debut.

Rose is a very good young player,  but if Newcastle are really interested,  it will depend on how much Tottenham want for the youngster,  and whether they will sell.

Perhaps if they are to sell Gareth Bale in the summer,  they would want to hold onto Danny Rose.

In the past, Tottenham have asked ridiculously high fees for their players, and it could be that Newcastle could get a much better bargain elsewhere.

What do you think?

Always a need for talented youngsters coming through the ranks keeping everyone on their toes. Got a feeling that Pards doesn’t seen Fergie’s future as a LB so perhaps we will be in the market for both an experienced LB and a talented youngster

He’s proper gone off the boil and doesn’t have the right attitude. He was actually shagging my housemate last year while on loan at doncaster and is another one of those arrogant footballers who have been given too much limelight before actually achieving something!!

    In conclusion, I’ll pass!

This lad aint a FB either. Harry put him there coz they’ve got no LB cover. He’s a winger. No need.

I dont like the idea of buying players from premiership sides that cant make the bench. Simpson, Obertan, williamson ect, just dont see any real quality getting the scraps from other teams. If he was to come though, id have thought it would be a for a fb, redknapp said himself thats his natural postion

    Fergie recently said Pardew told him to go and bulk up, because his future is at left back. So I imagine he does (;

long time reader, first time commenter, just thought i’d compile a list of expiring contracts and therefore possible free transfers
EPL: adebayor, berbatov, drogba, kalou, bosingwa, bassong
    Eridivise: Douglas

was looking through the other leagues but none that really jump out at me, few of those are unrealistic due to wages and age but kalou, bosingwa, and douglas would be some thrifty business i reckon. add to that a cm and maybe a left back and i’d be more than happy

Young player with pace and potential. Could move Wanton over to a more natural RB position. Brilliant.

Rose, Hoilett, Zaha and Tompkins and I am ecstatic.

There were people on here last week screaming that we needed a good winger!

Thing is though i hate the Spuds almost as much as i have begun this year to hate Liverfool! This because they never seem to want to sell players for decent money and are constantly sniffing around the clubs they think are on a lower level than they are! They also offer ridiculous transfer fees when they want to buy a talent from another club!

Totenham won,t let us have Rose just as much as we wo,nt let them get BA!

So this transfer for ROSE is just a non-starter!

We should go after Dirk Marcellis or Atsuto Uchida.

Dirk Marcellis – 23 year old
    Main Positions: CB
    Can also play Rb/Lb
    Nationality: Dutch
    Current Club: Az Alkmaar
Played for the Dutch national team.
    Value: Around 2-4million Euros?

Atsuto Uchida – 24 year old
    Main Position: Right back
    Nationality: Japanese
    Current Club: Schalke 04
    Played for Japan
    Value: 3-5million Euros

I agree with most of the other posters – I don’t think it would be a smart move for us or for him.

He’s obviously a decent player and looking for regular first team football so he’s frustrated at not getting much game time at Spurs, but how would it be any different if he joined us? If we nail down the LB position next season by bringing in someone like Pieters we’ll have players like Jonas, Marveaux and Fergie (and maybe even Sammy) all fighting for a spot somewhere out there on the left flank, so how is this kid ever going to get regular first team games? He’d be lucky to make the bench most weeks.

From his point of view I think he’d be better off going to a club outside the top 6 where he might have a better chance of playing regularly – and preferably to a club who don’t mind paying way over the odds (which they would have to do if ‘Arry is selling!) so let Liverpool have him, while we bring in someone else, under the radar, who turns out to be cheaper and better.

    In Carr we trust.

What exactly do you mean about Spiral offering ridiculous transfer fees for players they want.

from the last thread really. If we by some miracle got a CL spot and did badly, we just get parachuted down to the Europa cup in any case. Win win.

I cant see the point and can not see this coming to fruition as we hae a perfectly capable/keen/upcoming left sided player in Ferguson!!!

Rotonday – I admire your optimism, but there are many ways we can qualify for Europa – however I dont see crashing out of the CL as one of them 😉

    I like your thinking tho!!!

I keep saying this, and will continue to say this – But having Marveux back will be like a new signing. Massive potential, skill, flair and shot power on this lad.

Looking forward to see him come back from injury, and as we all know, Jonas picks up his game when there is immediate competition for HIS spot on the park.

Could quite easily see Jonas dropped for Marveux next season depending on the formation Pards goes for. As we have been playing with 3 accross the middle of late with Benny in the number10/Free role

    Toon Tom,

How about this for Acon 2013? I’ve included players we’ve been heavily linked with only. I reckon with service from Benny and Sylvain besty and even Shola would find it hard not to score.
(apologies if this looks a bit shit, It’s my first attempt at posting a formation/line up.
