    Well done Perchy!

  • 2 kingraghav // Apr 1, 2012 at 3:56 PM

perch and arfa ..outstanding…had my doubts about perch but starting to love him..

  • 3 winaldo1990 // Apr 1, 2012 at 3:56 PM

    Perchy was huge today

  • 4 ilovetoon8788 // Apr 1, 2012 at 3:57 PM

Perch was solid all game long.

But Arfa was magical and Cisse so clinical!

If i’m not wrong Arfa has racked 9 assists this season.

  • 5 ilovetoon8788 // Apr 1, 2012 at 3:57 PM

Perch MoTM though. Really some brilliant tackles and a fantastic block off Suarez. Immense!

  • 6 geoff777 // Apr 1, 2012 at 3:57 PM

Perch played well, a bit lucky not to be sent off towards the end … then we’d be really screwed.

So HBA for me, another great performance from our most talented player.

Terrible man-management by Dogleash taking Carroll off.
HBA put Enrique on his arse.

    Brilliant game & result.

  • 7 brighter // Apr 1, 2012 at 3:57 PM

    Firstly PERCH!
And then both HBA and CISSE!!!

  • 8 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:00 PM

Yes he was but without HBA we would not have any real attack I cant see how Obertan will get back into this team at ll in all honesty……

HBA uses a brain when he plays, his positioning is superb he can actually PASS players….something Obertan will most possibly never have….by the looks of things…

Perchy a soft spot but HBA MOTM for me

  • 9 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:02 PM

Cisse 4 goals in 2 games
Ben Arfa 4/5 assist’s in two games (debatable whether or not he touched the ball for Cisse’s second today)

Perch was immense. My MoTM, put his body on the line to block Suarez’s shot and made some clinical well timed challenges.

  • 10 Tsunki // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:03 PM

Just got out of the ground hoarse from singing ears a-ringing, Jose in goal, Kenny on the dole!

Who did we used to have at CB’s before Willo and Perchino? Did jose tackle HBA even once? Did anyone think time stood still when Cisse’s header looped in off the post or was that just my mind doing that? Is there anything more immense that Tiote in the middle of the park? These and many other questions will be answered in the hours to follow

Immense game and a great day out in sunny Optimism Valley! Beattie you are on lawmnower duty the grass is tall and lush here ha ha!

    Howay The Lads! ;) ;) ;).

  • 11 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:03 PM

Amazing how the HBA doubters are not making any comments or are backtracking been screaming for the lad to start whole season he has made more impact for me than ANY other player so far other than BA….

Cisse too but in terms of creativity and sheer class HBA is the real damn deal nobody is on form as he is right this minute in that position….what a lad…

  • 12 Thump // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:03 PM

Perchy or Willo for me, gave it to Perch for his consistency and willingness to help the team – he really is turning into an important player for us.

@geoff: I think it was the right decision tbh. Felt for him like, the abuse he was getting was almost ridiculous at one point – can’t blame him for walking off as soon as the sub was made. Didn’t notice him come back on either, did he?

  • 13 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:03 PM

Ben arfa imo disappeared for moments in the 2nd half. He was superb in the first half though.

    Andy Carroll. Diving Pr1ck. :)

  • 14 shay Robson // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:03 PM

any one else think swansea can pull off an amazing win

  • 15 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:05 PM

Love the nick and you are 100% spot on ..

  • 16 Kc-Toon // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:05 PM

Really interesting what the Liverpool fans are coming out with, Optimism for carroll has gone, eventually..
murmers he didnt want to score against his boyhood club, so dived hahah! just a reminder of the awful dive
Also, to see carroll storm off the pitch, saying f**k this, and throwing the liverpool shirt on the floor, to leave before the end of game game, hasnt warmed the hearts of the bindippers at all, wont be long till he starts a revolution to get him out of liverpool!

  • 17 joppadoni // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:05 PM

perch was forests captain. ive watched so many flamers on here its unreal. the boys a good player. glad he is turning heads. its something thats hard to do without class. great game today. great win ill be buzzing all week :D

  • 19 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:08 PM

@Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) 15

    Haha thanks.

  • 20 Thump // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:08 PM

My mate just made a good point: does anybody think Carroll dived to NOT score against us? It was a fairly blatant dive, after all…

  • 21 joppadoni // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:09 PM

willo was aweful in the first half. when crosses were obviously going to come in he hesitated and was behind the pace of the game time after time. in the second half he did better, although i think much of that was about liverpools poor crossing and sub of carroll. he did play well second half but he needs to watch the vids to see where he is fu cking up on his positioning and movement. overall he played well but has to do it over 90 minutes not one half. though he is a lovely bloke. i wish him well. if he can keep learning and show it he will be a fantastic defender. just needs to focus

  • 22 royrjmk // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:09 PM

Perchy and Willo both fantastic today

  • 23 petesull // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:09 PM

Dis is 1 of d sweetest victorys all season…… Prob becoz I hate Liverpool jus as much as d scum next door…… But my god I was surprised by d result…… Dere like our bogey team but we showed dem tday…… I love perch …… He’s puttin in some performances lately nd we’d be lost without him….. Mr. T just blocked anytin dat went his way….. Any player dat got dat d chance gave it to carroll which I loved… F**k d lanky b**stard…… Good to see him walk strait down d tunnel…. Going on about he Wudnt celebrate if he scored……. Ya hav to score first c**t……. Does any1 kno if anytin happend in d tunnel afterwards….. I cud see reina waiting for perch

  • 29 catchy in norway // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:11 PM

hard to dissagree with HBA & perch bieng the 2 best today, perch was carm at the back and there when he was needed , HBA didnt get the ball much, but when he did, he was possitive , and to be fair to BA , in the first half he looked really good to

great result, with a decent performance to boot,

    ous and chelseas run in

Swansea City away Wigan Athletic home
    Bolton Wanderers home Fulham away
    Stoke City home Arsenal away
Wigan Athletic away Queens Park Rangers home
    Chelsea away Newcastle United home
    Manchester City home Liverpool away
    Everton away Blackburn Rovers home

  • 30 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:11 PM

Did anyone notice how Santon went to RW instead of LB. I was fully expecting him to go LB and Gutti to shift into Midfield.

Also, any news on Guthrie? Hope he hasn’t picked up a serious injury.

  • 31 JAMSHA // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:13 PM

diff one, all wer class but i chose perch

  • 32 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:13 PM

Must say I wont expect Anything from the City game but I am afraid for the Swansea game….

  • 33 joppadoni // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:14 PM

dunno what effeminately means… but he had some rock solid games early on. when was needed. i see his movement and positioning being poor now. mostly evfery game he nearly costs us a goal. bar simos arm he would have scored a poor own goal today. but he works his socks off and second half was more accomplished. if he was motm today then collo should be motm every game we play

  • 34 josh // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:14 PM

@toondownsouth. If you keep flirting with me like this I’m gonna get a restraining order. The mere fact you bit on the hook suggests you are one of these willo haters that just got shown up by a lad who done his talking on the pitch. As for suggesting I’m unhappy with this victory and the facts you point out to go with it is nothing short of idiotic. I just back every player regardless of form or past errors.

  • 35 partizanovec // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:15 PM

have 2 b Perch. The lad played 3 positions in last 3 matches, dm vs Norwich, lb vs W.B.A. and cb today, and thet my fellow toon fans is exceptional.

  • 36 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:15 PM

Lol, Dogleash after the game talking about Simmo’s handball. He babbles on about it and tries to draw comparison with Suarez’s handball against wigan. This time claiming it came of Saurez’s chest instead of his shoulder, like he had claimed prior to today.

  • 37 Thump // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:15 PM

Did you? Didn’t see that jopp! Reckon he might have like, wouldn’t be so bad if he didn’t talk a load of shite when he left. If he came out and said “Nolan said it’d be a good career move, I thought about it, they were offering great wages and my transfer fee would have helped the club no ends so I handed in a transfer request” we might have accepted it a little easier rather than the texts (assuming they even exist) to Wraithy and all that fanny on.

  • 38 JAMSHA // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:16 PM

    Ameobi (Sh) (0%, 1 Votes) Krul (1%, 0 Votes)

    lol 1 vote but 0% , O vote but 1%

  • 39 josh // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:16 PM

@ thump. I ain’t trying to wind anyone up mate. If people got wound up by that statement It’s their own fault for hating on willo. Can’t help being thrilled for the lad and the team can i. Maybe next time il do a Brutoon and come back in a negative somber mood and whine just to please people ??????????

  • 40 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:17 PM

Cisse scores two incredible goals and he comes 4th???

  • 41 Thump // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:18 PM

That’s what I get for trying to type and watch the match at the same time lol.

The abuse wouldn’t have been so bad*

  • 42 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:18 PM

    @spuggy, he is 3rd mate.

  • 43 geoff777 // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:19 PM

Long term it was a terrible decision by Dogleash.
Carroll was gutted about being subbed, he looked really pissed off. Not clever by Kenny.

But who cares about morale in the bindippers dressing room.
    Cheeky 5M bid for Carroll?

Great win … made all the more satisfying by some wonderful refereeing.

  • 44 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:19 PM

One thing is for sure is this has been a squad season and the 2nd string lads have played their hearts out!

What a season 11 points above Liverpool and 12 above Sunderland with only 7 games to go!!! We’d have to lose four of them and Liverpool and Sunderland win all their remaining games.

  • 45 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:20 PM

Enjoyed how Carroll and Bellamy to ex nufc players substituted at the same time, then Jose being forced in goal.

On the subject of Enrique, I cant remember him making any attacking runs…

  • 46 Slank // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:20 PM

Perch was the MOTM yet again – didn’t think I would ever say that but the lad was been brilliant in everything he has been asked to do. Great professional. Needs an improved contract.

    Special mentions to:
Williamson – did really well against a fired up (and cheating) Carroll.

    Tiote – bossed the midfield.

Ben Arfa – was always a threat and looks very sharp and comfortable in a 4-3-3 formation.

Cisse – always looks like he will score, great movement and ideally suited to a 4-3-3 formation.

  • 47 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:21 PM

@ Perchina was 4th when I wrote it – 2nd now!!!!! Well deserved.

  • 48 Thump // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:21 PM

@josh: Haven’t been on here in a while because I’m tired of seeing the same old shite from certain people (I won’t name any names because Indian Magpie deserves his privacy) so I assumed you were part of the bill crowd. Either way, being right is so much less important than 3 points (unless everybody is saying we’re going to get hammered, then it’s just as important).

  • 49 Tsunki // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:21 PM

Carroll did not dive to avoid scoring full stop and don’t be stupid enough to buy into that bindipper propaganda like they handed us the game – he would have loved to put one past us make no mistake. So perch can do CB after all. Think I’ll get him to make me a dining table or install my central heating he seems to be able to turn his hand to owt! Bit rich to hear Willo getting criticised though his forward play is er well inconsequential. Anyone else wonder what KK was doing with his subs. What has he got against enrique to put him in goal? I was just willing for shola to dance one round him it would have been the perfect ending. Glad my 2-1 to us prediction was wrong too :)

  • 50 shay Robson // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:22 PM

trump. What texts are you taking about ????

  • 51 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:22 PM

If you had asked me last season if Perch would have gotten MoTM in a Nufc shirt, I’d have laughed and told you to go get your head checked…

He deserved his MoTM last week, and deserves it again today.

  • 52 geoff777 // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:23 PM

    Prefer our run in.

    Chelsea have three derby games.
Title might be over before we play a depressed Citeh.

  • 53 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:24 PM

Great thing about 433 is that if HBS loses the ball he has two lines of defense behind him. Great stuff. Would like to get Ba more involved up front, but if Cisse keeps banging them in then I guess it doesnt matter.

Loving the 433! Welcome to the modern game – we now have a team who can play numerous positions.

  • 54 josh // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:24 PM

@ thump. Not at all fella I’m always on that guys back. Same with Brutoon. I hate the negativity. Yeah i agree, il be wrong for the rest of my life as long as we get 3 points. All in all it was a great day. To see that shot of kenny looking like someone carved a miserable expression on a sprout will live long in the memory

  • 55 Charlietoon // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:24 PM

Pecorino get over yourself. He is playing so well because of the way he has been handled by Pardew. You cannot say we should have just chucked him in immediately because he is clearly playing a different game that when he first came here.He is crossing into the box a ot more instead of running it in every time, he is tracking back and tackling, he is not giving the ball away so cheaply. This is because of the way he had been managed and been training as they are new to his game.

  • 56 joppadoni // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:25 PM

howay thump… if you offered me 80k+ a week id go, you’d go, everyone would go… he wanted to save a bit of face? maybe. maybe not. likelyhood is he was told by lambias that we ahve an interesting thing here and he told pardew he couldnt turn it down. i think he dived deliberately ofc as all will too, but i think he did it because hes a geordie :D

fans today were brilliant at times, really loud. but i reckon our real 12th man was cazza :D

  • 57 joppadoni // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:26 PM

me mam just said ‘maybe’ though lol

  • 58 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:27 PM

The lads will have gotten loads of confidence from the game today – especially the defence which will serve us well whilst collo is out.

All set up for the away game to Swansea on Friday, then bolton on BH monday and I’m going to that one!

  • 59 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:28 PM

has pardew won a manager of the month award yet???????????

  • 63 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:30 PM

Remember when Perch had a great game against us for forrest and we all wanted him. He came we were chuffed, he got 5 yellows in his first 5 games at RB, he could get to grips with the PL.

Lesson – have faith in your players, he’s now showing that forrest form!

  • 64 northernrockstar // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:31 PM

im soo happy we got that win to show especially Enrique what it means to turn your back on this club. on the carroll side good he got booked for that awful dive but some part of me feels sorry for the lad, you can tell especially when he got subbed off that he is regretting being at liverpool and i do think the boo’s were a bit too much for him as he said pre game about how he loves the club still etc. and i would take him back at the end of the season on a free :)

  • 65 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:31 PM

@ josh not a willo hater at all, just hate ppl like u who cant comment on how great the win was or how were proving every1 wrong instead the only thing you can do is sl@g the supporters,
It has nothing to do with willo and for the record i dont think he did desrve MOTM thought he had a shocking first half and there were 5-6 others who deserved it more than him

  • 66 MagpiesFlyHigh // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:31 PM

Donkey did not dive out of love for his old club. The ball would have been on his weaker right foot and it was easier going for a pen.

  • 67 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:32 PM

Pards has played HBA to perfection – he knows he has to put the work in and have an end product or he gets dropped.

Where are the bloggers who keep saying pards is clueless and has no tactics??!?!?! Where are you now???????

Indian Magpie? Gorgonzola????? Funny how you dont see them when we win and pards gets it spot on – as he has the last two games.

  • 68 joppadoni // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:33 PM

seriously though i look for liverpools results everytime i can. to see if carrolls scored. im a fan of the player. i want him to succeed. i hope he has no issues with todays result and can be professional about it all and the pool fans realise it. really i doubt he would dive to prevent scoring against us but its clear he would have if he hadnt floored himself, either way im glad he did :D

  • 69 Spuggy // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:35 PM

We MUST be in the market for a LB, we have a recognised one in Santon and he doesn’t get played, instead guti fills in.

  • 70 TinoToon // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:35 PM

ED, will be better if we can vote for the best 3 players’ performance. I did vote for Perch but is a little bit unfair for Ben Arfa and Cissé.

  • 71 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:36 PM

Spuggy indian and gorgonzola thankfully are hardly ever on here any more!

  • 72 geoff777 // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:37 PM

To be fair, lots of us have been shouting for us to play 433 for a long time.
Performances after Christmas until recent games were pretty poor too.

Pleased we’re playing 433 and winning.

  • 73 joppadoni // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:37 PM

@geoff 61… do you think the interview was conducted on a small boat?? i feel motion sickness coming on lol

  • 74 JP...from The Rock // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:47 PM

Fantastic game and a great result. I would have settled for a draw with Colo injured. It’s a shame I couldn’t be at St James to witness this exciting match of football up close. The atmosphere was amazing even from my telly. Carroll has another stinker and I couldn’t be happier to see all ex-Newcastle players flop today. Screw them and that joke they call King Kenny.

11 Points away from Liverfool!!! Unbelievable :)

Perch, Willo, Hba, Ba, Tiote and Cisse were on fire today again.

Willo had two fabulous header when he was unlucky not to score- one hit the post and the other was inches wide.

Everything went our way today and it was such a laugh to see Jose Enrique on goal for Liverfool, it’s too bad we didn’t take advantage of that but it we didn’t need to.

We outplayed Liverfool all over the pitch, well done lads.

  • 75 BringBackTav // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:50 PM

Perch. No question. The man showed guts and bravery in defense. Willo had a good game alongside him. HBA, Cisse and BA were outstanding. All around good performance from the lads.

  • 76 josh // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:55 PM

@toon. Ppl like me? U know fk all about me. Most of my comments are positive so I’m more than entitled to have a pop at the hatets if i want to. If your not a willo hater then why bite the hook. U can stop flirting now you’ve bored me and we could be here all night. To say i slagged off the supporters is an I’ll judged statements. If you took the time to read before having a spontaneous menstrual cycle you will have seen my target audience was “willo haters”. If you ain’t one why get involved????

  • 77 josh // Apr 1, 2012 at 4:59 PM

And for the record I’m one of the people who always had a pop at Indian and gorgon for their unjustified negativity. So if that’s the ” ppl like you” category you were labelling me in, draw another label

  • 78 Cool Hand Luke // Apr 1, 2012 at 5:43 PM

Perch for sure. The only reason he didnt get the official MOTM was because of the yellow card. For sure he made a meal of it, but the ref may not have noticed the incident if he hadnt of reacted the way he did. An immense performance from wor Perch, just when we needed it. I was gutted for Willo not to have scored one of his attempts, would have given his confidence the world of good.

  • 79 Cool Hand Luke // Apr 1, 2012 at 5:44 PM

I actually felt sorry for Enrique at the end, he looked a right mug stuck in nets.

  • 80 geordiesteve520 // Apr 1, 2012 at 6:33 PM

The only reason Willo got Sky’s MOTM was because Perch was involved in the clash with Reina. Travesty – in my opinion his was immense, there was about 30 seconds where he made three incredible blocks…love the heart of the fella.

  • 81 Gateshead-Mag // Apr 1, 2012 at 7:22 PM

for me ben arfa, total gem for us sooooo glad hes come gud we all new he had it in him, made both our goals at the centre of all our menacin forward play, not so much in second half as the game didnt have much flow to it, but deffo worth his weight in myrr
