We always knew that Papiss Cisse had scored goals wherever he has played in football.
Papiss Cisse congratulated by Cabaye after scoring yesterday
And when we heard Newcastle were interested in the player last summer, we honestly thought there was little chance of Newcastle getting this tremendous goalscorer on Tyneside.
But we have since learned that last June Newcastle had agreed a fee for the player with his club SC Freiburg, but the German club pulled out of the deal, but Cisse tells us he was alll ready to arrive at Newcastle last summer.
Newcastle showed in January that when circumstances change with a player, they can do a deal quickly, and they amazingly brought in the top Senegal striker for around £9M.
And the new Newcastle number 9 has scored 7 goals in 7 appearances for Newcastle, and that happens to be one more goal than a certain Andy Carroll has scored at Liverpool in 38 games this season.
Papiss Cisse has played for five different clubs before arriving at Newcastle in January, and he started his career with Senegal club AS Douanes back in 2003, when he was 17 years old, before joining French club FC Metz in 2005.
Here are the total appearances and total goals he’s scored in his career for the six clubs he has played for:
Club Appearances Goals AS Douanes 26 23 FC Metz 104 38 AS Cherbourg 28 11 LB Chateauroux 15 4 SC Freiburg 67 39 Newcastle United 7 7 Totals 247 122
As you can see this lad has scored wherever he has been, and we hate to bring this up, but don’t be surprised if other clubs try to sign him in the summer.
But it would take an awful lot of money to sign this lad, and if Fernando Torres is worth £50M and if Andy Carroll is worth £35M, then how much is this player worth?
But there’s no way Papiss Cisse is leaving Tyneside.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2The confidence we have amassed now is the same confidence that gave us that 11 game unbeaten run. Would be fantastic to finsh the season in the same manner.
Out of the top 6, we’re the ones with the toughest fixtures in the final 7 matches.
Typical our luck, but with the season we’ve had, i’m feeling confident 🙂
Btw, where have all those Pardew bashers gone?

Comment #3I was’t at the game on Sunday, but it looked like Ba didn’t celebrate the second goal Cisse scored. Can someone please shed some light? He hasn’t started taking the huff because Cisse’s doing the business, has he? This may seem insignificant and trivial, but I just miss seeing Ba with a smile on his face! I hope he realises that we all appreciate how well he’s playing despite his goals drying up because he’s been forced out wide for the good of the side.

He’s playing 433 and HBA which we were screaming for all season and we’ve won 3 out of 3.
I don’t think our fixtures are too tough.
Chelsea have three derby games.
The title race might be over and Citeh will be depressed and have nothing to play for.
We can win the next 7 🙂

Comment #5I think most of us were saying we were an emerging team who’s performances would be mixed. Without sounding negative we could still have a ‘dodgy’ game before the end of the season but we are moving in the right direction.

Comment #6Ba is not the focal point of our attack now and Cisse is. Ba is doing a fantastic job playing in that flank. Working very hard and he IS getting into very good position. He is playing in a different role now for the team and we all appreciate what he has done this season.
It’s just a matter of time before he adds to his 16 goal tally.
AND
There’s no way we should let Papiss go in the summer whatever the price. A player of his finishing instinct is extremely hard to find. Most of his goals have come out of nothing and when i least expect the striker to score. Simply Outstanding!

Been thinking along the same lines.
It is crucial for the run in to be at top form – unlike the bin dippers 🙂 and our last three games have boosted morale and confidence no end. I’d have been happy with 5pts from these three games a few weeks back. If the silver fox can keep the lads going then we could get 64pts if we win 3, draw 2, lose 2.
The 4-3-3 is going like a dream.

We CAN win all 7, but will we? I reckon, especially the last 3 games, will be tough for us.
I have confidence in our next 3 tho, but u never know in football.
But we’re on a roll, our confidence is sky high, several players are hitting form now cause they haven’t played a full season. Such as Perch and HBA.
Yet another reason to use more young fresh legs aswell.

Comment #10Against Swansea, probably the 2nd best footballing team in the league behind Spurs. They play wonderful football. So we must be mentally prepared to see Swansea having large possession, which is the norm if you have been watching most of their games.
But i think 3 points is very possible with Cisse banging in goals.

I reckon the reason we have lost some games this season is that we have had too much respect to really go at the “bigger” teams.
In the last two games we’ve been devestatingly clinical and effective, and as Pardew says, it’s allot down to our top 3,4 players. We’re also getting used to the 4-3-3, we haven’t played it much at all. Still a work in progress, but it’s improving fast.

Great win yesterday obviously but made even better by Liverpool making an absolute fool of themselves! Oh how the mighty fall!
HBA fast turning into one of the best around, I firmly believe we will have to reject some massive bids if he keeps on the way he’s goin
As for Cisse what a buy! Fab when u have 2 lethal strikers as they don’t BOTH have to be banging them in at the same time
May these brilliant times continue

At the same time, they’re predictable, cause they don’t vary their system.
We broke them down completely last time, and in our form now, i think we will do so again.

Comment #14New system, new striker, a few other players in their first season with us. We’re looking good for next season.
I wonder where the pundits will predict us for next season? Will this have been a lucky “honeymoon” season for us or are we seen as a team seriously on the up?

This is not a ‘honeymoon’ season for us for sure. Other clubs who has done this before like Ipswich in the past is labelled as ”honeymoon” because they overachieved with mediocre players.
In our ranks we have, Krul, Colo, Cabaye, Tiote, Hba, Ba, Cisse(1 of the most in-form striker in Europe atm). 7/11 players on the pitch who walk into any Top European sides in the world.

Comment #16Ilovetoon…That’s not what I think, more of a question of what do you think the pundits will say in the prep for next season.
I honestly thought we’d do ok this season, not as well as we have mind you. We’ve got a good squad (although it lacks in depth). Great to see them doing so well so quickly 🙂

Comment #17Yesterday Ben arfa was fantastic again. Up against in my opinion the best left back at the moment in the premiership he gave Enrique probably the hardest game he’s had all season so i think benny boy deserved man of the match but perch and cisse were unbelievable. Demba ba on the wing is quality but I just hope he doesn’t get down at the fact he’s no in the limelight scoring all the goals because he ain’t getting as many chances

Comment #18i want ba to hit 20 goals this season imagine if he never left for the acon he would probalbly have 25-30 goals by now. because cisse is playing as the target man he is getting more goals and ba is on the LW. but Ba is contributing alot. i think at swansea we should rotate our strikers play ba first then cisse second. do you think we shud give colo a break at swansea should we let perchino start?????????

Comment #19We’re probably more dangerous away.
Playing this 433 system means we are great at counter-attacking.
Swansea might play right into our hands.

Comment #20These last few games I’d like to see Cabaye get the form back that he had before Christmas. I’m not saying he’s been playing crap or anything but since the man united game I think he’s lost form abit and needs to start pulling the trigger more

Comment #21Spuds showed how to play the Swans, get in their faces and stop them playing, its the only way. It must be high intensity or they will pick us apart. We must be first to every ball and run them off the park, its the only way.

Comment #22I just gotta give BA a shout out..
BA was marvelous on Sunday. He never stopped taking people on and his work rate was tremendous. Have to say all the players work rate was good tho really great to see them fighting for europe together
