In the interview Alan Pardew gave to talkSPORT recently, Alan mentioned that Demba Ba wasn’t happy at Newcastle at the moment, or to be more accurate – he’s been happier.
Demba Ba – stuck on 16 goals
With the news coming through that PSG will move for the Newcastle striker in the summer, we are waiting for news that Demba Ba has signed a new deal to stay on Tyneside, but nothing yet.
The club have offered him new terms, which are much better than what he was on, and the new contract will not have that £7M release clause in it, but of course Demba Ba must sign it, otherwise he can leave for a measly £7M in the summer.
During the talkSPORT interview Alan gave with Richard Keys and Andy Gray earlier in the week, this is some of what Alan said towards the end of that interview:
“The one thing I have got at the moment of course is everybody is motivated and everybody wants to play for Newcastle.”
“Demba Ba looks happy, although he’s been happier because I’ve asked him to do a chore on the left at the minute.”
“I can keep him happy because I’ll put him back through the middle soon and that will cheer him up.”
There were laughs all round when Alan said that last line.
Demba Ba has been on 16 Premier League goals since he last scored at home to Aston Villa in the 2-1 win on 5th February, so that’s seven games and two calendar months without a goal from Ba.
But at the beginning of the season, he went the first five league games without scoring, before he notched that great hat-track against Blackburn Rovers, so we are not too worried.
Maybe playing on the left hand side of a three pronged attack with Papiss Cisse and Ben Arfa may not have helped, but Ba’s still paying very well, and as long as Newcastle keep wining that’s all that matters.
Whether the news about PSG is true or not, we don’t know, but we’d like to see him sign a new deal so that if he does go – Mike Ashley can get a ridiculous sum from rich PSG for the striker.
We hope Demba Ba stays on Tyneside, and we think he will stay – and we hope Alan Pardew makes him happy – well at least happier. :D.

Comment #3I don’t think Ba is the type of character to get jealous or that, i say he’s just not happy because he isn’t scoring!
On a different note, there’s been a lot of talk lately about people who have moved on from Newcastle not doing well…..with one exception….Hughtoon! Ironically I think we are all happy that he is doing well tho!

Comment #4Hard to see how this will all work out, even next season, the 433 is clearly our strongest formation but getting Ba in the central role is a big conundrum for AP.

I think it’s about just rotating the front three a bit.
HBA is left footed, he can go on the LM, Cisse is right footed, he can probs do a job on RM (he’s got a wonderful cross too btw), stick Ba in the middle.
I don’t think it’d be an issue tbh.

Comment #7I think its just because he’s not in and amongst the goals at the moment. I think he will stay this summer, he will see the partnership he has with Cisse and want to keep it.
@1 Krul, shes not amazingly attractive, just sounds like she has a massive ego!

Comment #8Would anyone go for Sessongon?? His at loan with the scums. Has had a great season with a number of goals and assists. Definetly a better buy than hoilet and jarvis.

Comment #9@Dannyo – the thing that has been making Ben Arfa so deadly though is his ability to cut back inside against left footed left backs (bin dippers game prime example). Stick him on the left, and he is less likely to cut back inside.

Comment #10if Ba does infact move on. If we remove the release clause and get “silly” money for him. Marveux could slot into that wide left/forward role, we could invest the “silly” money in newer recruits and move forward. We have seen that when losing our vital players (Carroll, Nolan, Jose, Barton etc…) that not all is lost.
I obviously want him to stay, but if he moves on not all will be lost.
If we diodnt have Cisse on board, and with Benny finding his form/place then i would be dreading losing Ba. But if it happens I feel we will be okay. And if we get 30-40M for him, even better.

Comment #12Since everyone are on the topic of how to place BA in the middle, did anyone notice that during the liverpool game, there was a period when cisse moved to the left and BA played up top?? I think this is not an issue and our top 3 can interchange positions among themselves.

Ye, ofc there’s that, but i think HBA thrives so much in a number 10 role, that even on the wing, he’ll drift inside.
He’s a genius of a footballer, he has vision to do whatever he thinks gives us the best chance for goal.
Both Cisse and Ba are beyond capable headers, so a few more crosses wouldn’t make a difference to our goal chances imo.
Especially coming from HBA.

Lol, funny thing is, if u watch Cisses goals in the last 2 matches, Ba is position more straight infront of goal than Cisse ever is.
I think Ba goes there to catch a possible return or simply wants to get to the ball first 😛

Comment #23Demba Ba is without doubt happy at Newcastle. And when he gets offered an extra 20k a week, and we are in Europe, he will be thanking Papiss, never mind being unsettled.
But lets be honest, if one was to leave in the Summer, who would you pick? Because based on the last 4 years, Cisse is a relentless goalscorer, and for £8 million, it’s the bargain of the season. You pay a premium for goalscorers and we got 23 goals so far for under £10 million. Add HBA into the mix and you have 3 players that will (with a full season each) bag us 40 goals between them. I am sure Demba will stay but if not, then he will be replaced by Mr Carr.
Being honest, I think Demba will sign a new contract, and if he ever does leave it will be for big big money

Comment #26roe – yes good point, the role that Ba is playing would fit Kalou.
Marveux obviously a player on our books that could fill this possition, and as iv always said will be like a new signing next season.
But yes: Kalou, Hoillett, Drenthe, Adam Johnson (Toon Fan) all worthy replacements for half the price/free???
I dont want to turn this into “I want Ba to leave to reinvest” as this is not the case. Simply stating that we would not fall to bits if he moved on.
If we lost Tiote, this would be a massive loss. Same as Benny or Krul.

Comment #27Dannyo@ Agreed. Actually for most of cisse’s goals, I have realised he is not directly involved in the build up play. BA somehow is the decoy for defenders. Cisse on the other hand some how ghosts into the box in the final moments of a move and bangs it in!!
roe997@ Kalou is a brillaint shout. But the downside is he will be gone in the ACON. Cant afford that personally. Rather have SESSONGON. This guy has been mint this season.

Comment #28Woah.. Stop and listen to yourselves. Remember a lot of the reason of where we are is from Demba’s goals and suddenly we have Cisse and you lot think we are rosey and will let him go?
Backup strikers are always needed and bare in mind if we were to revert back to a 4-4-2 remember demba would be a starter and ben arfa a winger. We need to expand the squad not just do a swap and get someone else.
Demba is very important to us and he must be retained at all costs if possible

Comment #29@iamnufc – yeah i noticed it, and i noticed that Cisse was hobbling a bit and struggling to run, he told Demba to cover his position while he recovered (it was obvious by the way he was pointing to Demba) and Ba just ignored him and walked away, leaving us exposed on the left where Cisse was limping and Bellamy was trying to get at us. Maybe Demba feels as though he should be the main man at NUFC, but for the first time in ages, our manager is the top dog.And if any player rules the roost, it’s Captain Colo, who the rest love and respect.
Pardew is insisting on 100% teamwork and commitment, anyone not on board will be moved on.

Comment #33Its funny but its stupid headlines like this ome ED that get the crap-loids all hot under the collar & started posting stupid stories aboput everybody & their dog wanting to sign out players……
Now I’d understand another teams fans coming up with stoires like this to annoy the crap out of us Tooon fans but for one of our own to be doing it is rediculous fella….
So do us all a favour when yer posting these stories, please try to not wind everyone up with OTT headlines & pathetic stories that donlt actually exsist yeah…
As for him not being happy at playing on the left, the fact is probably because he’s not getting the goals he would like & the extra bonus that comes with them, after all, from what I’ve heard, he gets 5k/goal & as already got 16 of them so wants more & who wouldn’t but since Cisse’s arrival, he’s not scored. so is missing out on a lot of extra money but I doubt its something he’s gonna leave teh club over is it now!!!!

Comment #36Vukic, ferguson n sammi cud also play out on the left of a front 3 with marveux we’ve plenty options not mention we will sign new forwards or wingers in summer, IMO ba will stay unless psg really want him it’s his hometown team who he supports but IMO psg money they will hav bigger targets than ba that’s sure
Exciting summer ahead Douglas n petiers will b a great start

Comment #37iamnufc as everybody seems to have ignored your question I’ll answer it. Yes I think sesignon (I can never spell it) would be a good addition but not sure what kind of money he’d cost. Hopefully if he did come he could kiss & make up with Mr T. Only down side is he might have to go to the ACON too although I think his team are quite minor so may not qualify.

Comment #38I don’t think anyone is wishing Demba either out of the team or out of the club???
As NUFC fans though we are realists. Realistically a player will leave in the Summer or at some point, but hopefully the club will be both proactive and reactive in every window.
Also, I have said it a few times, we may well need a keeper brought in, as I am far from convinced about Elliot. Hope I am wrong but the drop in class from Krul to him looks massive.

Comment #40If Ba wants to leave then let him, Id understand why he would want to return to Paris and he’d be on better wages than we could offer and Champions League next year.
Ba is a very good centre forward but only a good left winger.
We’ve proved this season that anyone is replaceable with the scouting team we have and with Cisse already here I think we would be even more dangerous with someone like Hoilett or Sessegnon playing that left wing role. Imagine either of those 2 with HBA playing behind Cisse, he’d get 40-50 goals on his own next season!
