Tavernier Back From Loan – Perch Should Be Banned – Nonsense!

James Tavernier, who is well thought of at Newcastle,  has returned from his loan spell at MK Dons, and he goes straight into the squad for the Good Friday game at Swansea City.

James Tavernier – 20 year-old back from loan spell at MK Dons

James has gained a lot of experience over the last 14 months or so on loan at Gateshead (18), Carlisle  United (17), Sheffield Wednesday (8) and MK Dons (6) where he has played a total of 49 games.

And when he returned from Sheffield Wednesday in February, James was very impressive in training,  and manager Alan Pardew said he looked as good as current first choice right-back Danny Simpson.

It seems that Alan Pardew wants to have a look at the lad,  and see how good Tavernier is,  and we expect him to make some sub appearances over the last 7 games of the season.

And it could be that he could become the replacement for Danny Simpson next season, if the former Manchester United player refuses to sign his new deal before the summer, although we expect at least one new left-footed full-back to be drafted in the summer – probably Erik Pieters of PSV.

This is what James said on the Newcastle web-site today about his loan spell:

“It was very beneficial for me,” “It was another loan spell which allowed me to go out and play games, which is what I need, and I really enjoyed it.”

“A knee injury stopped me from playing a few games but I still enjoyed it and hopefully they can go on and get promotion.”  “I hope they get to Wembley in the play-offs and go up.”

“I’d have loved to have had the chance to play at Wembley so it’s disappointing in some ways that I won’t be able to now, but it’s great being called back.”

“And now I might be involved in the last few games of the season for Newcastle, which is exciting. Hopefully that can happen but we’ll wait and see.”

And there has been a lot of nonsense written about the Pepe Reina – James Perch incident on Sunday, and we see a number of Liverpool’s current and former players have chipped in.

Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson tweeted this a couple of day ago:

“What have I just seen? Is Perch for real?! Joke,”

Was it also a joke that Reina butted James Perch and totally lost his control – it’s not James’ fault that Reina now misses three games and the semi-final against Everton, and we noticed there was no appeal of the red card made by Liverpool.

And why do these footballers get involved with these things – they are not supposed to comment on the incidents in games.

And former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore had this to say today:

“Not many suggesting punishments for diving, so is it now with us for good? I say give Carroll/Perch three game bans. They won’t do it again.”

Do what again for Perch?

James was head-butted by the Liverpool goalkeeper – we suppose he wanted James sent off and Pepe slapped on the back for head-butting Perch.

As we said earlier, there’s  been some utter nonsense written since Sunday about that incident,  after Newcastle walloped Liverpool 2-0 and were the better side and are now 11 points clear of Liverpool.

We know Liverpool fans and Liverpool players are not in the best of spirits at the moment – the side has lost six of their last seven league games – but they should look at their own players and not the opposition for where the problem lies.

Liverpool’s revival has to start with their players  starting to step up to the plate,  which they haven’t done this year in the league,  having gained a paltry 8 points from their last 12 games, and 3 of those points were against a badly weakened Everton side.

And so as not to embarrass the Liverpool management, we are not even going to mention that Kenny Dalglish has spent close to £120M on new players in the last 15 months.

Comments welcome.

Isn’t Tav just back from injury too?
He hasn’t been tried at this level
One thing goin for him is that he’s played games.
Kadar is at least tried at this level and showed great potential.
Again he musta done something ridiculous to piss AP off so much to not get a look in even when we’re struggling

I think that Tavernier can do a job for us this season and moving forward he has a future anywhere along the back 4

Sorry Ed but I completely disagree. Diving/ feigning injury should get a 1 match ban, however not this time for Perch as you cannot suddenly start this- it should be made official from next season.

    Also-
“we suppose he wanted James sent off and Pepe slapped on the back for head-butting Perch.”
That’s ludicrous. Criticising Perch is not the same as supporting/ acquitting Reina nor is this a sectarian club issue. It was pathetic, showed a complete lack of class, integrity and dignity and tainted what I thought was a MotM performance from Perch.

Thats a very good question, Back when liverpool won the champions league and finished 5th, they got a place in the qualification rounds of the champions league, alongside everton who had finished 4th, but as for the rules now, im not sure, and as to were that would leave newcastle 😐 hmmm

I know it’s absolute rubbish liverpool are talking , but I don’t like to tempt fate , I don’t want to see them suddenly have a good turn round in fortune and do us for Europe at the last and break our hearts , I’m so sick of that sort of thing happening to us, let’s not put the commentator’s curse on them, haway the lads

You have to understand why many Liverpool supporters and players don’t like us and wanting us to fail. It’s because they spent a lot of money for our players and turned out to be utter rubbish for them, they feel being cheated by us 😛
When you are doing unxepectedly well, a lot of people want to see fall.

    off topic:
Emerson (Benfica) looks good, he is LB/CB. Strong and quick. I think he is better than Pieters, Pieters is inconsistent imo especially England vs Holland game, he got beaten easily.
Btw I watched Bolton last few games, Ryo Miyachi also looks very good. He is good on the ball, very qucik, very very good crosser and good dead ball specialist. He is much better crosser than any of our wingers and consistent.

To all those whining about perch feigning injury, a few points!!
First of all reina showed intent! OFF
Secondly if perch had done it to him, would he have stood up and took it? NOPE
If you were to send players off for feigning injury you would have have minimal players on the park!! FACT
Thirdly, why has no one mentioned the Cabaye incident? Suarez didn’t touch him but he hit the deck quicker than perch saying Suarez had kicked him off the ball?
My last point proving sending players off for feigning injury would ruin the game just as equally as the act itself!!!
So stop the f*****g whining and look forward! Reina deserves to go whether he butted perch or not! The intent was there!!
Bet it was the same f11ckers on here who feign when Williamson and collo got a ban for elbowing an butting Bolton players last season…… Oh but that’s all forgot now and Rooney escaping punishment for elbowing some frigga in the dish!!
Have a realistic view man folks not some tunnel visioned wank!

@Les Grossman – For the last F***ckin time- criticising Perch is not absolving Reina!!

Surely you need to stop being an apologist and say that act is not acceptable regardless of relativising it to other players and acts.

I am a Newcastle fan and him being a Newcastle player does NOT make it acceptable. I want to see the team play with dignity.
