Will Dan Gosling Get His Chance Tomorrow In Place Of Guthrie?

Danny Guthrie is definitely out of tomorrow’s game at Swansea and on Monday against Bolton at home.

Dan Gosling – could get his chance tomorrow

And it’s not clear who will get the nod tomorrow in Danny’s place, although unfortunately 19 year-old Haris Vuckic is also out with a knee injury for the next couple of games.

This is what Alan said about Guthrie today:

“We’ve lost Danny for the two games.” “But obviously we’ve got able replacements in there.”

“We’re in good spirits and it has been about recovering rather than putting in work on the training ground because we have two big games against Swansea and Bolton.”

“It’s just about getting to Friday now. Then we get that out the away and we prepare ourselves for Bolton.”

“It’s a blow for Danny.” “He has had a great season and it’s a blow for the team because he’s done well.”

Haris Vuckic or Mehdi Abeid could be potential replacements for Danny Guthrie, but Haris is out for two games with a knee problem:

“Haris has taken a little bit of a knock so it might be that he’s struggling for the two games.” “Everybody else is hopefully OK.”

And James Perch is also a doubt, but we think he will play,  and of course Perchinio could have replaced Danny Guthrie,  but he’s needed at center-back alongside his friend Mike Williamson.

It just shows that James will get a lot of games given his flexibility,  and the fact he seems to be able to get the job done for Newcastle in multiple different positions on the field.

Of course the person who came on for Guthrie on Sunday is Dan Gosling, and we have to think the 22 year-old could possibly get his big chance at Swansea, and it will be an important opportunity for Dan to show Pardew what he can do, if he gets the nod.

Dan has only 14 appearances for Newcastle this season, although we suppose Ryan Taylor could also get the nod in one of the three midfield positions or even come back in at left-back.

That’s if  Newcastle continue to play in a 4-3-3 formation and they could switch to 4-4-2 and bring Ryan in at left back and put Gutierrez back on the left wing, and the team could be:

Krul
Simpson Perchinio Williamson Taylor (R)
Ben Arfa Cabaye Tiote Gutierrez (c)
Ba Cisse

That’s not bad team at all,  and would mean that Gosling would not get his chance at a start, and Pardew may well go for experience tomorrow.

What do you think?

Personally, I would love to see Shane Ferguson play.

More than likely he will go woith Gosling, but that boy is addicted to red cards!!

Sorry that this is off topic and may have been looked at already but worth looking at…

    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/04/05/stats-show-danny-simpson-is-league-s-top-right-back-72703-30698212/

Just think that Danny is not going to be replaced by anybody that can do a better job than him and is worth a much better contract than what he is on?

    Ollieh51,

I like Simmo because he is always fit, always tries, and for the most part has had a good season. When you look at the Premier league, other than 4 or 5 obvious ones, there aren’t many better then Simmo. I would say he is in the league’s top 6 RB’s, and we are a top 6 team, so hope he stays.

    @ SirToon – I have always 100% agreed!

    Sagna
    Ivanovic
    Richards
    Walker

I’m struggling to see another RB that we could get in that does as good a job as Simo does for less than maybe around £7million?

Waste of money in my opinion.

Offer him a bigger package, he’ll play week in week out and do a bloody good job.

He’s not amazing going forwards but his crossing is decent.

His 1st job is a defensive one and he’s done that better than any others in the league this season.

There appears to be some confusion in the media this morning, is Perch fit for tomorrow or not? Hope so, would be a tough one for Tav to stroll straight into.

As for Simpson, I think he deserves a new contract. He’s a decent, hardworking, unspectacular defender. That’s what we need.

Thanks for the Ollie. May be a chance for those who view Simmo in a negative light to see the reality. Every player can be frustrating, but he is a great team player and certainly deserves a place in our growing squad. Unless Carr and Pardew have an amazing plan in place, we need to get him signed up. Let’s just hope fan abuse isn’t one of the reasons he’s delaying signing it!

Agree mate. We need to try and get one or two contracts sorted out. Our squad is 3 or 4 light of being well covered as it stands. If we lose a couple then we will need to bring in 5 or 6, not sure if we will do that, plus, if we do, will they settle in or knock us back a little?

Fingers crossed everyone stays and we add 3 to 4 players in the Summer.

Simmo and Perchino are much maligned but both solid and hardworking players with good work ethic.
We really do need these guys, especially if we have a Eurpean campaign next season. The mid level squad players have really come on under the silver fox, his team are good motivators and confidence builders. I’d say they are all of good (not average) EPL standard now.

@ CODARM – Can’t imagine it’s to do with the negativity.

Statistically this season he has been class but then remember back to last year too and he was brilliant for us then as well.

I ithink he just wants some more money and as long as it’s not a massive amount, I would take a look at it. He’s well worth it.

We’re gunning for Europa football next season. Our season starts earlier, has more games in it and then we have a thin squad too.

Tav is coming along and would play in domestic cup games maybe but he’s not going to be able to just step up to the PL without some gentle introduction.

We can’t afford to spend £7 million because w edon;t want to offer Simo Maybve £15,000 a week more?

Technically, he’s as important as Demba but because he’s not scoring, we don’t see it and we would all offer the money to Demba!

I reckon it’ll be RTaylor or Santon LB and Jonas in Midfield for sure. I’d say RTaylor at left back is the most likely for his experience and defensive qualities. It’ll be interesting to see how we get on against a side who move the ball so well. We’ll see counter attacking football from our lads, and if it works as well as it did against the Tbaggers then we should edge it.

    Totally off topic.

As Rangers will be disqualified from Europe next season, then the 4th ranked SPL finisher may well end up in the Europa League. The way its going it could easily be St Johnstone or Dundee United.

Perhaps we should play our second 11 in the SPL if European football is available to teams of this standard..

(I’m not slagging St Johnstone or the tangerines here they have done incredible things with few resources)

Sirtoon…3 – 4 in with no outgoings and I’ll be one happy guy.

I think we’ll see a lot of youth arriving too (On top of the “Squad” players coming in. We are apparently releasing quite a few of the current youth team, who will be replaced

@11 Vask. I agree with you. Jonas in midfield, with Raylor/Santon left back. Ferguson is a possibility too. I’d probably go with Santon, depending on Raylors fitness.
