Pardew – Papiss Cisse Brilliant – We Were Flat Today

Alan Pardew gave praise to Newcastle’s new number 9 Papiss Cisse for two brilliant opportunist goals that were enough to get Newcastle all 3 points.

Papiss Cisse congratulated after scoring after just 5 minutes

But Newcastle struggled at times today against a good Swansea side who had most of the possession all game but a solid defensive display today allowed Newcastle to take all 3 points.

This is what Alan said immediately after the game today:.

“He was our best player today.”  “Of all our flair players he looked the one that was really on it.”  “He’s got fantastic pedigree though.”

“This is a boy that’s scored goals in the Bundesliga, he’s not a mystery.”  “He was the difference between the sides.” “We were flat,”

“Some of our flair players looked like they needed energy. Maybe the early goal affected us.”  “We sacrificed possession today.”

“We know the way they play at home is superb with some of their movement. You’ve got to be patient.”  “But we knew if we could win it back in certain areas they’d be vulnerable.”

“That was the away win we needed and our home games now can see us through to 5th or 6th.”  And maybe the early goal affected us.”

“But the discipline and camaraderie we have in the group was great.”

Papiss Cisse now has 9 goals in his 8 appearances for Newcastle United, and Demba Ba again came up black, but Cisse is the one playing in the center up front, and he is the one getting most of the chances.

And the way this lad it putting half chances in the back of the net, he will stay in the center too,  as Newcastle move into 5th place in the league with 56 points from 32 games.

That’s a full 10 points better than we managed in all of last season.

Brilliant result today by Newcastle and six more wins and we could even be in the European Champions League next season.

Howay The Lads!!

repost as it goes well with this page
wether ba is happy or annoyed i don’t think we have too much to worry about because if ba doesn’t score another goal this season then most big teams will not fancy him that much as he will show more signs of wanting to be the main forward than a forward that helps the rest of the team.
manure have rooney as there main forward
    arsenal have van persie
    city have sergio
    spur have adebyor
that leave only two big teams which are liverpool and chelsea. if i was ba after what has happened to torres and carrolls goal scoring ability i don’t think i would go to them

How can you give santon a 5 and krul a 7 when he hardly had anything to do? Also ba wasn’t as bad as a 3

    Krul 6
    Simpson 7
    Willo 8
    Perch 7
    Santon 9
    Cabaye 9 gosling 6
    Tiote 6 Raylor 5
    Guti 7
    HBA 7
    Cisse 10
    Ba 5 fergie 6

Brilliant resilience showed once again and who would’ve thought we would keep 2 clean sheets while colo was injured? I didn’t 🙂

    – Cisse is magnificent, and to think Torres was 50m??!!?!
    – Great to see Arfa doing well yes again, 433 really suites him
    – Santon played the whole game and did a great job
    – Perch and Willo were solid enough at the back

I’d love Ba to get a goal in our next two home games. We have to keep his confidence up as if Cisse is injured then what.

You dont get a 5 just for beeing at the pitch… But OK 3 was a really unfair rating… But 9 for Cabaye?? Thats INSANE!!! And a 7 is a fair raiting for Krul, he did all good, although he didnt had so much to do..

Any nuggets who think Cisse’s second goal was a fluke ain’t ever played up front the man is one of the most natural finishers i jave seen in nearly 40 years of watching the toon for any side in world football bar none

those assists won us the game… on the 1st goal he demonstrated vision that scholes and xavi only have and then 2 nd goal alot of players would shoot but cabaye has that eye only the great players have when making those types of passes.

er also what can u do when the team you play only play from defence to midfield to defence to midfiedld and then bck to goal keeper. cabaye done well keeping the teams shape.

if u gave him 6 fair enough i think he would be alot higher

And what??? Santon a 9? Thats a funny one. Max. a 7! When we are giving a rating we have to be neutral… But this is just my opinion. But people cant disagree with Cisse, Perch and Williamson all been outstanding today!

2 match winning assists are worthy of at least an 8. Santon was worth a 9 and Papisto was worth 9 too. Defensively Demba Ba was at least worth 5/6 was a bit lethargic and had to be taken off. Krul worth a 6 for doing the little he had to do. Perch/Willo/Simmo all deserve 7s for their excellent defending all game long. I am feeling rather optimistic that I would be inclined to even give them 8 😉 Tiote and Guti were solid and deserve a 6 for their work-rate and Raylor, Gosling and Fergie were solid when they came on, so a 6 for each of them 😀

I don’t believe Ba is unhappy but what could perhaps upset Ba is the constant singing of Papiss Cisse in the stands. As much as I love to hear it Ba also deserves his name chanted around St James’.

All the players are doing tremendously so let’s sing their praises too and keep them all happy as they will all feel loved.

To be fair to Jail for Ashley he has been completely won over by Pardew and is even warming ever so slightly to Mike Ashley. His jokes about the things that are “too good for Ashley” are just jokes now, he doesn’t really mean it.

the rest of the games this season i would put in these ways
bolton stoke winnable without the need of tiote colo guthrie ba
everton wigan could get a draw but might struggle to win if tiote and ba are missing, as for colo and guthrie i don’t think they as much of a vital two from what i have seen from perch and willo recently
as for the city and chelsea game well colo tiote and ba are a must with them i could see us getting a win vs city and might just sneak a draw against chelsea or even steal it

Fantastic 3points today I’m over the moon. Don’t mean to put a dampener on everyones party but I honestly am getting worried I cannot see demba ba playing for us next season. I did not look happy at all today. Caught a glimpse of him sat on the bench in the background when cisse got his 2nd and he didn’t even crack a smile or move off his seat!

neutral , not cruel in the ratings, at least realistic, it does take alot to get a 9 i think, like 4 goals or something.

Kris you’re losing this one mate give up now, especially as you didn’t have the steel to keep your Cabaye score down, your own score is now close to zero – on the credibility scale that is. 🙂

Our team shape was by design today so I don’t agree with the article title entirely as it sound like we were under the cosh with no answer. I’d say we were a bit like an Ikea Kitchen – packed flat and economical. ha ha see what I did ok never mind.. Good tactics, energy saved for Monday, Bolton will be feeling their legs on day 2 after their game so bring em on I say!

Kris – Are you being serious? we played sh*t football when we played 4-4-2 and since weve changed to 4-3-3 weve won 4 out of 4 and had 3 clean sheets and scored 8 goals.. we cant change the way we should be playing just to get someone happy :s its ridiculous he should be happy being on the pitch he would of been no where without us

Is it just me, or are Swansea overated? Yes they can pass the ball round in their half and in the middle of the pitch. If they only had that quality further up. I think they also need to be more direct. That type of play may work well in Spain where its hotter and fatigue may set in. In England its rarely hot at all. Look at the stats the action zones. 24% in our defensive third and 20% in theirs, now thats pretty even to me.

Demba is perhaps just disappointed with his own performance, any player that is happy to be substituted is not hungry enough. Maybe he isn’t as settled wide left as the commentators are making out but he knows it is all about the team and not indivdual plaudits, but it must be a re-adjustment not being the big cheese anymore

nico – Its not that they over-rated its more because they dont have an end product if they had someone like Ba or Cisse upfront they’d be up there with the top 6 easily.. midfield is solid and defence isnt too bad but never gets tested whoever they play.. so a lethal finisher is all they need

A think it all depends how chelsea do in the first leg against Barcelona because if they do good then they’ll go for the 2nd leg more and might rest a few key players.. Chelsea are on form now under Di Matteo
