Papiss Cisse – scored another two tremendous goals today
Here is Alan Pardew’s Sky Sports interview immediately after today’s great Papiss Cisse inspired 2-0 win at Swansea.
Now all that matters is to get 3 points on Monday against Bolton at home, and then the lads have 12 days of rest before we entertain Stoke City at St. James Park on 21st April.

where do you think Rogers will go?
cant see a top club touching his as they always go for proven names or unproven foreign managers.

Comment #44forget about the differance in money between champ and europa, forget about the league form from being in europa league, no matter how much risk we might suffer the europa league still has got one very important factor and that is the ability to hold onto our key players esspecially when you have two big spending teams show desperate need for decent players and both those teams will have europe if we fail

Comment #45Oh, you can’t qualify for the CL before being in LE a couple of seasons, otherwise you’d…?
Please, remind me, how many times did Sir Bobby Robson get us to UEFA Cup before we broke in the CL? Did we or did we not still challenge for the title in the next season?
And did we or did we not barely survive the relegation struggle in the season before he got us there?
Were they or were they not the most cherished memories a Newcastle fan has from this millennium (bar the Joe Kinnear speach and the exquisite flirts with the ball of a certain Titus Bramble)?

Comment #47It’s all about avoiding 2nd season syndrome for Swans next season. I don’t think they should think further than surviving again next year. Then perhaps re-assess after Christmas.
I’m unsure about them surviving, but could do allot better by getting that top striker.

I said Chelsea ages ago.
He was reserve team/Youth team manager there for a good few years.
Spurs apparently want him if Redknapp goes.

Comment #49According to that article knocking around, comparing our fiscal situation with others, you make £5m off Europa off TV rights alone, for making the last 16 (can’t remember who the 2 clubs were, Spurs and Liverpool?), then there’s the prize money, which is of course a pittance compared with CL, but you can still net around £2m for progressing beyond the group stages, additional gate receipts and matchday takings factored in, you’re probably talking about £10m from a decent Europa stretch. That’s just the direct financial side – it’s definitely ‘worth it’.

It was different then, we spent a lot of money with Shepherd
Like I say on our budget and the fact there are 5 teams who will definitely compete with us for the spot as well as possibly liverpool if they get it right.
Its much harder now as we are up against established teams and much richer teams too.

Comment #52I would much rather get champions league footy than Europa league. Group stage min payout is £10mil no matter if you qualify and it would give good experience to the lads. Also the Europa league has far too many games, bit of a poisoned chalice if you ask me.

chelsea will do as they always do and appoint a foreign manager who is flavour of the month.
and spurs will be looking a big named European manager too, they know they need a big name in charge to keep the players there, cant see modric being happy to stay unless they have a top guy there.

Comment #55The money isn’t even the important bit.
The important bit is the chance to – if we qualify from the group – watch our lads turn out against the likes of Inter, Roma, Napoli, Lazio, Atheltic Bilbao, Athletico Madrid, Olympiakos, Ajax, PSV, Galatasary…
THAT is what I want. Some good old fashioned European nights at St James’, and some incredible away trips!!

Comment #56I would love us to have European place, be that Europa or CL. We don’t have to try hard in either competition, we can just focus upon the league and cementing our place in the top 6. Look at Spurs, they didn’t exactly go for it whenever they’ve been in the Europa league, they focused on building a squad capable of challenging for a top 4 spot year on year and look at them now! considering where we are now i am so proud of our squad, who wouldn’t have taken 6th at the start of the season? and now i’m hearing CL or nothing in regards to Europe! Absolute tosh, if we go about it in the right way then any european football is a blessing. It will expand the newcastle brand, increase revenues, tv money, overseas support and expose us as an exciting up and coming team to players, fans and the world. Also, any benefit be it 2m or 2p, the europa league is certainly worth it!

Comment #58@rich, regarding Liverpool – if they sack Dalglish, I’d be really worried. They are a massive club. If he stays as manager, I’m fine with them.
We faced the greatest sides I’ve ever seen of Manchester United and Arsenal back then, as well as big spenders Leeds, and a spectacular Chelsea and a much, much better Liverpool. It might seem the current top 5 are more established today, but it’s a matter of perspective.

Comment #59For the last four games on this blog I’ve forecast a Toon win. And I’ve been TOTALLY confident in that forecast.
I don’t think I’ve EVER felt so confident about a Toon side, not even during the great Keegan years.
We are a proper team, with a proper manager, a proper coaching and scouting staff amd … most of alll … a PROPER OWNER AND BOARD.
Get ya scarfes out … get ya rattles out … get ya vocal chords tuned … get ya Toon shirts on … WA GANNA WIN SOMETHIN SOON … OH YES WE ARE !!!!

Comment #6152 there won’t be much differance between no. of europa league games and no. of CL games for us because one thing i think certainly won’t happen is we finish 3rd so therefore we will still go through a qualifing stage and i dout we will get through a group stage of the CL as we will be in a low ranked pot so will end up in the europa league knock out stage which is just 2 more than champions league

Comment #64Neggers are a funny ( not funny humorous more funny odd or funny stupid) group of anal sphincters.
They were slagging the board until after the teething mistakes were rectified and the board appeared to be getting it right, then they were slagging AP and his tactics until it appeared that AP had the tactics and man management just right.
Now short of imploding we are in Europe and they are now banging on about how hard that is going to be, ohhh we don’t want to be in the Europa there’s good teams in the Europa and we might get embarrassed said one, ohhh we don’t want to be in the Europa it will be too taxing and our league form will suffer says another.
P**s off and support another club that has no hope of playing in Europe I say, that way you will not have to worry about success being too taxing.
We qualify for Europe and our owner will be even more encouraged to invest to secure the squad depth we will need to be competitive.
We will raise our profile in the football world it will make us harder for current players to leave and make us more attractive to other players that we might be looking at bringing in. It will increase our watchability so increase tv monies, It will increase our fan base so increase club value and revenue
etc etc.
Stop looking only at how much a European football run brings in directly, but open your bloody eyes and look at the intangibles that it brings in.
God why the hell do neggers even bother breathing,
you really shouldn’t do it as you might catch something.

Let’s have a real good gloat shall we and try to wind up those of us who have had and maybe still have serious doubts about the Ashley model.
If we lose 4-5 starting 11 players to higher wage playing clubs this summer then we’ll be back to square one, so despite the gains we’ve made, it’s a bit early to crow.
IMO the credit goes to Pardiola and his team, not the owner who gambled on AP – it looks a good call and we’ll all be happy if he stays another five years and give us European football every year.
Toon fans are naturally suspicious so don’t rub it in. Leave that till September…Hope yer right tho…

What on earth makes you think we could lose 4-5 of our starters?????
MA has shown he is a very bad seller of good players in fact I used to think floppy chops was the worst as he always demanded stupid money for any player another team showed interest in but MA appears to be in a class of his own.
Outside of BA all our best players are on long contracts and you can guarantee there will be some funny money asked for from any interested parties and MA is in the driving seat because of the contract lengths.
As I said in a previous post if you are negative enough and worried enough to type outlandish scenarios like that why do you bother breathing, there are lots of bugs in the air and you should be more worried about breathing one of those in.
Stop searching for what might never happen and just enjoy what is happening.
When you stop looking for the black cloud behind every silver lining you will be amazed how good life can be.

Well it appears we both want the same thing and seeing as I was at the 1955 FA cup game I would say I do not have a lot of time left.
The difference I think between you and I is I embrace the direction we are going in but you appear to be scared of it. I am enjoying the current situation and what may come, but you appear to be scared and more concerned we will do a Stoke.
“football is littered with well meaning failures” it is also full of successes that grasped the nettle with both hands and went for it.
We will not do a Stoke we have a completely different type of squad, a lot of our squad are proven winners both in silverware and in attitude.
I want the club to go for it you want to play it safe.
As I have already said be careful the next breath may have a bug in it play it safe don’t breath.

Comment #80I didn’t know Berbatov is a Newcastle United fan! That’s interesting, going into the summer transfers. Berba the magician playing with the Papiss Ba strikeforce. Berbatov and Jay Rodriguez, Douglas and Pieters, and Corgnet. That, and Alan Pardew’s man management, would be enough to take us to Champions League next season, and i’d even go as far as saying a title chase, insane.
