Santon In For Guthrie Is Only Newcastle Change

Davide Santon returns to starting eleven for Newcastle’s game with Swansea this afternoon.

And Santon coming in for Danny Guthrie is the only change from the side that beat Liverpool 2-0 last Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Taylor remains on the bench and Davide gets his first start in a few games, and the 21 year-old Italian must have been impressive in training this week.

As expected, 20 year-old  James Tavernier is on the bench,  and it looks like Jonas Gutierrez will play on the left side of midfield, after playing the last couple of games at left back.

Newcastle will probably play in a 4-3- formation,  but could switch to a 4-4-2 formation at any time.

For Swansea,  Gateshead-born striker Danny Graham is on the bench and Luke Moore is preferred up front, and former Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge is in the starting line-up.

Steven Calker,  the Tottenham and England U21 center-back, who is  on loan at Swansea, has been linked with Newcastle and  is in the side at center-back.

Neil Taylor, whom Newcastle were close to signing last summer, starts for the Swans at left back, and has had a solid first season in the Premier League.

We have to hope the lads are as good as they were in the last couple of games, and a win is what we are looking for at the Liberty Stadium today.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Swansea: Michel Vorm, Angel Rangel, Steven Caulker, Ashley Williams (c), Neil Taylor, Leon Britton, Joe Allen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Nathan Dyer, Wayne Routledge, Luke Moore.
Subs: Gerhard Tremmel, Alan Tate, Garry Monk, Josh McEachran, Mark Gower, Scott Sinclair, Danny Graham.

Newcastle (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, James Perch, Mike Williamson, Davide Santon; Yohan Cabaye, Cheick Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez (c); Hatem Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba
Subs: Rob Elliot, James Tavernier, Shane Ferguson, Ryan Taylor, Mehdi Abeid, Dan Gosling, Shola Ameobi

    Good lineup
Exactly what I wanted to see
People who were saying Raylor for lb were probably the ones crying out for santon at the start of the season, but honestly santon who is supposed to be a lb or Raylor who is rm/RB? There’s only one answer for me and pardew has chosen correctly.

nufc_fans reckon Ba is playing through the middle today to try and crab another hattrick, been so long since he’s had one 😛

    @WWJBD
Lol, have to agree with u on the previous comment on Perch, thinking about Perchs prior performances before his recent hit of super form, hell must surely have frozen over. I’m just waiting on the flying pigs now, lol.

Well done pards, he has done his bit, now its up to the players.

Glad Ben Arfa is starting, get scared sometimes that Pardew’s gonna leave him out, which in my opinion is fatal.

I am going to analyse every single thing simpson and santon do today and giv a scouting report to the blog at full time, i swear it will not be biased due to my concern at simpsons ability and also my biased view that santon is going to be a world beater.

I promise everything will be a totally unemotional critique.

Fancy us for a win or a score draw, certainly should hav enough to beat them, however they have turned over man city and arsenal at their place. Here goes.

Haha just shows what confidence can do for a lad eh? Man of the match touts for 3 different positions and filling one of our best players boots with ease who would of thought that! The kid who went to the reserves pre season doing that….football is a mental game!

Have to say I am chuffed Graham and Sinclair are on the bench

Dannyo -actually to say we’ve got a thin squad, why does our bench look pretty cool (ahem well the goalie..)? Never thought I’d say that. Bet they wouldn’t mind it. though.

obatoyou – this is a squad built for one purpose. No compromises here. We will win. We will. 🙂

No doubt the guy has seemed to flourish since Dyer got injured, and it says a lot about Rodger’s belief in the guy that he is starting him over Scott Sinclair. He seems to have found a team where his style of play suits, where he didn’t really fit into our system last year.

Seen him at QPR and at Spurs when he was there and always thought he was decent, actually thought he was very good. Was excited when he got here but just didn’t make it.

He will be pumped today but I think he will choke, he isn’t a big game player and against his former club he will be desperate to put in a good performance, but he won’t. That isn’t to say he can’t….but he won’t 😛

    Lol, well put.
Yarp, Graham and Sinclair on the bench is good for us. We don’t need a Gateshead/Geordie lad coming back to haunt us.
Looks like Swans are running a 4-3-3 aswell, but i can’t say i’m phased by a front 3 consisting of Wayne Routledge – Luke Moore – Nathan Dyer.
They have 10 goals between them. Why on earth would u start with your biggest goal threat on the bench when u know chances will be hard to come by anyway?
Odd choice, but good for us.
