a bit cheesy i know but if anyone can come up with something better than that for our dynamic duo im welcome…

i fullly support daffy and sunderland tomorrow in beating totenham. whoops, its just for that game ok

  • 16 GHOSD (The poster formerly known as Ruddy Marveaux-lous) // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:06 PM

Didn’t realise that Chelsea and Arsenal still have to play before we play Chelsea…a draw between those 2 would be brilliant, and as long as we keep up the pressure by beating Bolton, Stoke and Wigan we’d be flying :D

  • 17 MagpiesFlyHigh // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:08 PM

Funny how Pardiola is damping expectations with the ‘we wuz flat today’. He knows the Toon rollercoaster already ! Got to keep the guys grounded and focussed.
Reckon he’s a great man manager and will keep Demba No 19 happy – he knows exactly what to do.

  • 18 Klatoon // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:08 PM

Tomorrow i’ll try to imagine its Athletic Bilbao’s 3rd reserve team playing Tottenham….and i’ll support them

(Well only as long as they’re playing a team above us)

    :)

  • 21 toonking // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:12 PM

the rest of the game we have this season in terms of difficulty easiest to hardest i would put like this
1.stoke- mid table just battling for position now so might not play at there best result 2-0W
2.bolton-home advantage plus we have had an extra days rest result 2-1W
    3. wigan do have a relegation battle on ther hands but providing we have ba and tiote available i think we will be too strong for there defence 3-1W
4.everton this game could be either hard or easy because everton will be desperate to finish above liverpool but also might want to rest players if they reach the final of the fa cup so result i think will go two ways 2-1W( if fa cup final) 1-1 (if not in fa cup)
5city fairly obvious really have a title race so will put a real effort in although they might have lost the chance by then 2-2
6 chelsea the ultimate difficulty this game will determine our ability with europe next season, without tiote ba and colo we will loose but if them 3 are available we might get a draw 1-1

  • 22 niafron // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:13 PM

    Got to go lads.

    Bonne soirée.

  • 23 KevinHann // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:14 PM

To be realistic, I think unless Arsenal suffer a bad patch of form, they will take big advantage of their fixture list and move safely away with the third spot. Tottenham are a bit risky and might drop points here or there. Sadly, it seems that Chelsea are the most likely team to lose ground, their fixtures are monstrous, can’t see them playing three cup ties without their league form dropping a bit. Though it would be nice if they can steal a point off Arsenal!

It might very well be that we are close to Tottenham/Arsenal and a bit above Chelsea when we go to the Bridge.

  • 24 shay Robson // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:17 PM

i think i pity sunderland and hate totenham at the moment, which is worse?

  • 25 JP...from The Rock // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:17 PM

Demba 1, Demba 2 they’re both shooting missiles at you, Newcastle Come on Newcastle!!!

    How about that one?

  • 26 loztoon // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:19 PM

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Tiote…

  • 27 Deanes212 // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:19 PM

Holy FOOOOKKKKK, Cisse’s second goal was an absolute gem. That was something from a whole other level!

  • 28 KevinHann // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:21 PM

Of course I’ll be all for Sunderland tomorrow, how could a defeat damage them? It’s not like they have anything to lose at the moment. Realistic challenge for 4th and Champions League next season opposed to a few hours of satisfaction that the rivals slipped to a strong team? Hmm… tough choice… not.

  • 29 JTOONJ // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:22 PM

when Cisse scored did anyone else notice the only player not to celebrate is Ba?

  • 30 eaststandgeordie1982 // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:23 PM

i hear micky horseshite doesnt think cisse’s 2nd goal wasnt all that what a bellend that was an amazing finish up there for goal of the season along with one against norwich

  • 31 shay Robson // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:24 PM

Kevin, I think we can get 4th. If not well, we gave it a go.

  • 32 MagpiesFlyHigh // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:25 PM

If we can hold 5th we’ll have done quite well this season.

The advantage of the CL is it’ll help keep the squad intact even of we drop into the Europa after the group stages.

To be realistic we need 69 pts to be sure – 4 wins and a draw – including the win at Stamford Bridge.

  • 33 KevinHann // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:25 PM

Not too troubled with Ba’s bad mood. Pardew managed to handle Ben Arfa so I’ll let him worry for that one, and even if he can’t, I still trust Carr to discover a proper replacement.

Ba had an excellent chance to score today and he didn’t take it. Cisse had the same chance in the 5th minute and found the net. After all we did switch Ba to spearhead our attacks at one point in the first half, he can’t say he hasn’t been given an opportunity.

  • 34 Klatoon // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:26 PM

Cabaye today showed what he’s all about, that 1st time through pass for Cisse’s opener was class!

  • 35 toonking // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:26 PM

the big question will be who should we support between arsenal and chelsea when they meet
if by the time that happens we are still 2 points behind them and level on games played
should we support arsenal and take the safe option of finishing above chelsea who look to have the hardest run of games should we support chelsea for the chance to finish in top 4 or should we have the draw

  • 36 WWJBD // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:27 PM

Well how about that eh! What happened to Tiote though? Off at HT? Injury?

  • 37 MagpiesFlyHigh // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:27 PM

By the way. Everyone slagging Angry has got him wrong. He just loves the Toon and wants the best for us.
    Maybe he’s having a rethink – I certainly am.

  • 38 rich_toonfan // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:27 PM

I think Ba is not unhappy with his role in the team just unhappy he hasn’t scored. Ba seems a very proud person and will want to do the bets for the team but also himself.

Ba played out left in Germany so he is used to it.

And I think the not celebrating thing could easily be down to disappointment about not being on the pitch….sure he was brought off to be rested not so much for his performance.

And also Ba did have a good 30 mins playing through the middle today….I think he is happy.

  • 39 MagpiesFlyHigh // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:28 PM

    KevinHann

    Regarding Ba…
    In Pardiola we trust :-)

  • 40 MagpiesFlyHigh // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:29 PM

Anybody know the last time we got 12/12 in the EPL ?

  • 41 KevinHann // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:30 PM

I fully believe we can achieve 6 wins out of 6 (depending on injuries). Not saying we will, but we are capable.

If we keep going, Chelsea will fall behind. Their fixtures are impossible, especially with their current squad.

One of Tottenham and Arsenal might slip a bit, but if we keep firing on all cylinders, it might come right to the final day of the season!

And by the way I am concerned that should we finish 4th, Chelsea will somehow squeeze through to the final and win the bloody CL.

  • 44 rich_toonfan // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:30 PM

I think Pardew got the tactics spot on today.

It was a bit like Mohammed Ali’s rope a dope….just let them pass around the front of us, stop them if they get too close then catch them on the break.

The only thing what stopped it working as well was that once we got the ball we let ourselves down with sloppy passing…other than that it was very good.

  • 45 JTOONJ // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:31 PM

I’m just worried that he ain’t happy because the reason Cisse is such a goal threat is partially Ba’s fault because, he drags players away from Cisse as Ba is a known scorer. Also sorry to be a neggar but i can see a big club taking them both from us.

  • 46 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:32 PM

Newcastle’s best season since I’ve been a fan, and that would still be the case so long as we get one or two wins out of last 7, which we will.
And with Newcastle playing the way they are, they’re likely to get a few more than that, and in for a Champions League place, we’d be up for a good summer of transfers, I’m sure whatever happens we’ll be signing some good players now to push further.

  • 47 rich_toonfan // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:33 PM

not sure when we last got 4 wins but our record consecutive premier league wins is 7 between may 94 and september 94.

we have 4 now and with bolton, stoke and wigan next we could match that.

  • 50 Dannyo // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:33 PM

Just watched the NUFCtv interview with AP.
Guthrie and Obertan will not be ready for Bolton. Tiote has hamstring issues so he’s a doubt, but AP wouldn’t say anything on Collo.

Have a feeling we might be changing it up a bit against Bolton selection wise. We’ll see.

  • 51 Toon Tang // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:34 PM

who’d have thunk 2 clean sheets with willo and perchy at the back eh . class performances

  • 52 toonking // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:35 PM

    @40 sorry misread you
we have never won 12 out of 12 games in the league our longest is 11 which was in 1992

  • 53 Toon Tang // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:35 PM

ba looked peeved . he just needs a goal doesn’t he

  • 54 Toon Tang // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:36 PM

cisse absolute superb quality goals today again . some stat says hes got best goals to game ratio of anyone in that amount of games i think it was

  • 55 Toon Tang // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:39 PM

to be honest , of swanseas 75% possesion or whatever it was, 3 quarters of it is the defense fannying around passing between themselves . really boring to watch they are until they are passing in danger areas and penetrating

  • 56 Dannyo // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:40 PM

    @ToonTang
Cisse currently has the best minutes/goal ratio in PREMIER LEAGUE HISTORY.
    A goal every 66 minutes.

  • 57 Toon Tang // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:41 PM

id take our way of playing and winning 2 nil with a nice clean sheet over swanseas way all day long tbh . cant win games on just passing the ball round the defense and occasionally having a shot from distance

  • 58 rich_toonfan // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:41 PM

I genuinely can’t wait to see this team (with summer additions) after a full pre season together. It could be something special we are building….there is no reason we cant do what spurs have done.

The sold their top centre forward for 30mil (berbatov to man utd) and used that money to build a champs league side.

We could be doing the very same…not look spurs can turn down offers for players like modric and still keep him fairly happy….if we improve in the summer i’m sure we can do the same.

  • 59 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:41 PM

@54 there’s one person who’s done better I think it said on skysports. I think he looks great for taking us forward, and we won’t be letting him go like we did Caroll, not unless a club wants to give us about 60 mill.

  • 60 Toon Tang // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:42 PM

dannyo , very true . what a stat that is mate. well chuffed for the lad

  • 61 Toon Tang // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:44 PM

jamie , theyll also have to go through me to prize him away from us . it aint gunna happen haha

  • 62 Dannyo // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:47 PM

    @rich
Agreed, it’s mindblowing to think that we could compete for CL next season. I don’t quite belive it, lol. What if it all goes tits up?
    I mean, we haven’t played anyone yet…

  • 63 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:48 PM

I think everyone would say that. Cisse is a legend in the making.

  • 64 rich_toonfan // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:56 PM

    @dannyo

yeh I know, we have come on leaps and bounds.

Our scouting network has to be thanked massively for this for identifying a lot of this talent and Pardew for gelling it together so quickly.
