    great great win,

however Raylor was poor, i dont know if it was rust or what.

dont want to take anything from win though

    great win

    Rodney Demba CIIIIIIISSEEEEEEE!!!!

  • 4 GHOSD (The poster formerly known as Ruddy Marveaux-lous) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:02 PM

Cissé got 2 amazing goals but I thought I would go with a different choice and gave my vote to Davide Santon. The guy was dropped for a number of games and that would obviously have dented his confidence. He has went out and listened to his manager and re-earned his place in the side. He then went on to reward Pards’ faith in him by putting in an incredibly disciplined display of defending.

    I salute you Davide :D

    wow what a good friday

  • 6 Indian Magpie // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:02 PM

    i voted for cisse,

pity could not vote for Davide Santon

  • 7 Wor Shearer // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:03 PM

It’s not about individual performances at this stage of the season, it’s about grinding out results…and what a great example of that today!

  • 8 Tiote4PM // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:03 PM

    Accepted Oleg

    Great result today.

Beating Liverpool and coming above them feels amazing. Anymore than that would be incredible.

My life is better now that Pardew is in town.

  • 9 shearer 9 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:03 PM

They were all good 2day every 1 worked hard and all did there jobs but cisse will get all the praise ba was the only player that didn’t like that gr8 I can c him leaving in the summer for sure and personally wud love him to stay but do we really need him if we got a new left winger and young striker

  • 10 Oleg G // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:03 PM

    Injuries? Ba? Cabaye? Tiote??????

  • 11 nufc786 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:04 PM

great stuff from perchy and willo our last form of defence has turned out to be our best one!!!!!

  • 12 blissna // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:04 PM

Voted Cabaye but Cisse was an obvious choice too.

  • 13 Indian Magpie // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:05 PM

    12 clean sheets

  • 14 ArchieDog // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:05 PM

Hope Ba’s ok, he did not look happy when Cisse scored his second. Hopefully he’ll get a bit of time through the middle in the next game.

  • 15 super magpie // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:06 PM

Got to be cisse, he scored 2 goals and tracked back really well, I actually laughed so much when he scored his 2nd, just the way he dinked it off balance and how he managed to get it over vorm( although he was well off his line) was too funny :D
Can we make it 5 in a row?

  • 16 Tsunki // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:06 PM

Ruddy – great minds – obvious choice would be cisse not just for goals but for his defensive work (?!) but my vote was for Santon because he looked today for the first time close to the finished article of a classy LB.

We could add Cabaye for his wearing the grass out and 2 assists, and even a special mention for young Fergy what a great little worker. Good, Good friday alright.

  • 17 ilovetoon8788 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:06 PM

Cisse. His quality of finishing was the difference. And his 2nd goal.. Was quite, simply out of this world. If it was scored by rooney or persie the tabloids would be waxing lyrical. It was amazing. Only a handful of strikers on the planet is capable of producing a finish like that.

    Motm without doubt. Cisse. Period.

  • 18 Wor Shearer // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:06 PM

Some ppl on here are nuts. Just because Ba got subbed off doesn’t mean he’ll be shipped out in the summer!

    Perspective people!

  • 19 2_goal_tino // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:06 PM

It’s quite frankly embarrassing that Cisse hasn’t scored a hat-trick in any of the last three games – must improve …

  • 20 tarie4 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:07 PM

santon for me…great performance. people see ben arfa tracking back and winning tackles…next season is his season.
anyway heard sir alex was at the liberty?? watching cabaye or tiote?? hope he was just checking up on the swans..they play them soon right?

  • 21 tarie4 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:08 PM

got this off bbc website…people take note!!!

“Mike Ashley, I wish he was Villa’s chairman and I am sure some other fans of other clubs will think the same. Good management appointments in the end and great signings. A good job now surely Newcastle fans?”

  • 22 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:08 PM

Hopefully Cabaye and Tiote were just brought off for a tactical reason, and they’ll be fine to play on monday. And Coloccini coming back is a boost, now depending on oposition Perch might be able to do a job as DM, which I think we might need against Chelsea when the time comes. Hopefully Ba will get a bit more luck support wise when he’s the one in the middle, but he went several games without scoring at the start of the season then scored a hat-trick, so i’m not too worried. Demba should get off the mark against Bolton.

  • 23 ilovetoon8788 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:08 PM

Yeah from now if cisse scores one goal in a game I would definitely consider it a very poor performance from him.

  • 24 toonking // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:09 PM

it was hard to choose as they were out played in the game so my decision is base more on the fact he has did so well scoring 6 goals in 3 games 9-8 games overall so deserves it in that respect

  • 25 Tommyy // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:09 PM

Great defensive display. Got to say Simmo and Santon were particularly good today. A bit disappointed Jonas and Cabaye couldn’t get on the ball more but two excellent assists from Cabaye, exactly what we bought him for, top vision.
Thought HBA was excellent also, defended and covered Simmo superbly, as well as finding the energy to run at their back line on a few occasions.
Only negative from today for me was Ba acting a bit immaturely, when being the only one not to celebrate when Cisse scored his second. I think Pardew will revert to 4 4 2 v Bolton or switch Ba and Cisse around.

  • 26 tarie4 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:10 PM

liverpool fan on bbc saying forget newcastle players..instead buy their scouts…hahaha

  • 27 Adssy Mccc // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:12 PM

    Three words…..

    Great team performance

    Roll on Monday

  • 28 super magpie // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:12 PM

    @ tatie

Man u play Swansea when we play man city I think, but he can **** off if he wants cabaye or/ and Tiote, no no no, big clubs can not come and pluck our players. Not anymore. The lowest price I would sell either is £30 million, if he wants both £70million because that’s two CM. But cabaye and Tiote have both come out today and said they want to stay so I’m confident we can keep them.

  • 29 GHOSD (The poster formerly known as Ruddy Marveaux-lous) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:13 PM

It was a very disciplined performance from our boys, they were outplayed in terms of possession but kept believing what they were doing. You guys may think I love Pardew too much but it really is a testament to how he sets his team out, and how much they believe in him and his tactics.

These are truly exciting times ahead of us lads! :D

  • 30 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:13 PM

@20 yea Man Utd play Swansea the 6th of next month. I don’t think Man Utd will sign any Newcastle players, they’d much rather sign somebody with a big name from Europe.

  • 31 super magpie // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:13 PM

Tarie * even, spell check :/

  • 32 niafron // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:14 PM

    There’s a game on Monday?

  • 33 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:14 PM

I did read again that Man City were willing to bid 80 million and between 400,000 and 500,000 a week to sign Ronaldo, as Man City need improving in the wide positions.

  • 34 Dannyo // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:14 PM

We play Bolton at home mate ;)

  • 35 Tommyy // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:15 PM

I hope Ba takes a step back and realises he can’t always be Mr Newcastle, I’ve no doubts he will score again soon. Even without the goals he has played well. Just needs to keep working, he’ll play through the middle against Bolton I reckon.

  • 36 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Yea Newcastle play Bolton on monday, but Bolton play tomorrow aswell so they’ll be tired themselves. Bolton will only have one day rest so that could be decisive.

  • 37 GHOSD (The poster formerly known as Ruddy Marveaux-lous) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Yeah Niafron, Bolton at home :D

  • 38 Tsunki // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Dunno about being outplayed today like. I know that sounds like a flame-inviting comment but basically we set ourselves up to toy with their flowery yet ineffectual approach play, knowing we could soak it up, and all without getting unduly tired for the next game. Subs for the main stars were clinically introduced. The plan was virtually perfect in form and execution. Step forward the ‘Pardew is tactically inept’ crowd please, and bend over.

  • 39 super magpie // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Why don’t we say it’s cabaye and give them Alan smith in disguise instead? :)

  • 40 nufc786 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:16 PM

i think bolton will be a tough test becoz they have started winning and the thought of fabrice muamba will only spur them on we need to not take bolton lightly

that being said i thought simmo was really solid today. the thing that seperates a good full back from a world class full back is the attacking runs that a full back makes. but i wouldnt have that becoz god has blessed simmo at being at the right place at the right time with his goal line clearances. grear game for him today

  • 41 nufc786 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:16 PM

    super magpie
    i like that idea :)

  • 42 p // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:16 PM

On Ba, I think he playing a different role in the side now Cisse is on the scene.

I thought he was a little of the pace today but the last few games he had been excellent even though he had not scored.

Make no mistake, if Ba gets the opportunity he is likely to score but right now, Cisse is the centre piece to our attacking line. He is after all the number 9.

  • 43 Tsunki // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:17 PM

@32 ha ha ha yes it’s that quick mon ami :)

  • 44 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:17 PM

And what Demba needs to remember before he gets too frustrated, is that Newcastle snapped him up when other clubs weren’t willing to take a chance on him, and he’s still playing every game pretty much. Against Bolton he should get a chance to come across into the middle, and hopefully relieve his stress.

  • 45 niafron // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:17 PM

Who are Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal’s opponents in their next two games?

  • 46 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:19 PM

Cabaye needs to plays a mora CAM role….his passes up front are hideously good…

    what a legend win

  • 47 p // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:19 PM

@38 I agree, there was a game plan here, it was intentional.

If we had lost then, yes we would have been outplayed but we didn’t.

If we had gone 1 down though, I think you would have seen a more assertive Newcastle side

  • 48 nufc786 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:20 PM

    tottenham- sunderland arsenal-man city

  • 49 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:21 PM

what a game Cisse finishing is SUBLIME…

its as if he is trying to finish the unfinishable :D HAHAHAHA

  • 50 super magpie // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:21 PM

Your right, I don’t think we got outplayed, they never cut us open or got behind our defence once, while we did twice and scored twice :) like i’ve said a few times now Swansea are way overhyped. They pass it about well and keep possession but never look like threatening at all, I honestly couldn’t care less if they 77% possession and 18shots to our 5, as long as we won. all their shots were from distance so they didn’t really trouble us at all, I think they’re getting found out now, teams know how set up against them, because us,Everton and spurs have done this in recent weeks.

  • 51 5Danny94 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:21 PM

Perch and Williamson didn’t put a foot wrong all game. If it hadn’t been for a small mix-up against West Brom, we’d have scored 8 in our last 4 games, with 4 clean sheets.

  • 52 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:22 PM

Two of the three next to us could quite possibly drop points in their next game. I don’t see Wigan beating Chelsea, who have just seen Benfica off, but anything can happen.

  • 53 GHOSD (The poster formerly known as Ruddy Marveaux-lous) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:22 PM

Ok ok Tsunki if you want to be pedantic about semantics then fine :P

I didn’t mean outplayed as to say they were the better side, moreso that they had more of the ball. Usually more possession correlates to being the better side but in this instance it perhaps doesn’t. There can be no doubt that the way we set out was a deliberate ploy to try and win the game but also keep one eye on the game on Monday.

  • 54 Dannyo // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:23 PM

We got Bolton home, Stoke home, Wigan away.
All games winnable on paper, it remains to be seen if we can get them aswell.
One game at a time, one game at a time…

  • 55 toonking // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:23 PM

when it comes to demba ba i think his best chance will come from periods when cisse has missed so perhaps he should do a role simular to nolan had. of course he did have a chance against west brom but got fouled. cisse himself also i think is a lot faster when it comes to getting in the box too.

  • 56 tarie4 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:24 PM

    super magpie
sorry mate…just super excited that’s all… I mean we could be fourth by Monday if results go our way… cooooommmmmmoooon the toooooooooon

  • 57 nufc786 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:25 PM

i think ba thinks he still has a chance to win the golden boot. i think he misses it when rooney and aguero wre not in his league at the time. only him and RVP and to be fair if he didnt go to ACON i think ba would have 25 goals by now

  • 58 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:26 PM

I must admit too Willo and Perch are like different ppl last few games…..even though Willo had some sh*te moments but Perchino is a different player…our most improved player for sure…

  • 59 GHOSD (The poster formerly known as Ruddy Marveaux-lous) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:26 PM

Today lads was about taking the few chances we managed to create, and boy didn’t we just do that!

We now have a CF who, even if we are under the cosh for 80% of the game, can come up and take his chance when it comes. His goals per shot ratio would be a very interesting stat if someone could get a hold of it. He has very rarely missed

  • 60 Pigott93 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:27 PM

It was between cabaye and santon for me as dey were everywhere but those 2 assiss made me pick cabaye.. cisse was deadly in front of goal as always he is a real poacher and does not need to be asked twic to put the ball in the back of the net!

  • 61 niafron // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:27 PM

If man city could get one point out of the emirates, we would be bloody close.

And guess what? I see alot of fellow magpies hidding in their room with the volume of the tv at the lowest level to watch the mackems against the spurs!

  • 62 Robby Bobson // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:27 PM

I think the whole unit shows what a good manager Pardew is. Its absolutely ridiculous the stick he gets on here.

We have Simpson, Williamson, Perch all at the back, all very very average players and they always in the right place, covered by everyone else and they didnt really have a chance that wasn’t 20 yards out.

I think there centre halves were more tired with all their one twos around the imaginary man, whilst ours were just chilling in our half.

  • 63 Slank // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:28 PM

I was very impressed (again) with Ben Arfa. He’s really putting in a shift tracking back and tackling something he hasn’t done before the last few games. He was always a threat.

But Cisse was my MOTM. Not only because of his wonderful goals but his work rate for the team.

Santon was good which hopefully will have given him more confidence.

I didn’t think I would be saying this at the beginning of the season but Perch was is usual excellent self.

Great win by a great team effort. And tactically Pardew got it right.

  • 64 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:28 PM

Seeing also his goals so far have been EXTRAORDINARY….all difficult and amazing finishes…

  • 65 Kris // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:28 PM

    Williamson – 7
    Perch – 7
    Santon – 5
    Cabaye – 6
    Tiote – 6
    Gutierrez – 5
    Ben Arfa – 5
    Cisse – 8

where are the people who say that pardew has not got a clue about tactics, perch should be given away and ashley should be in jail ? I would enjoy those comments again (comicly, i need a good laugh) I have never given up belief or hope in any player, or owner. i did not like ardilles, gullit, souness or dogleash though.

  • 70 Tsunki // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Ruddy – ha ha sorry mate I did kinda scan your post you did in fact say “outplayed in terms of possession” so I will retreat from my nitpicking beancounting lol :)

It was actually mesmerisingly entertaining stuff today, we had virtually no part in the game, bit like a cat watching a fish tank full of pretty little tropical floaters, then occasionally dipping in to pick out one of the hapless little critters. I say hand on heart that I never felt we were under threat and even their odd forays and shots on were greeted with much more calm than say when Wolves came back at us when we were up against them. I felt today that at 2-0 it was job done.

  • 71 Klatoon // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:30 PM

mate give credit where cradit is due..

I WAS as many other fans out there, was unhappy with the 442 formation it was stale..

ever since Pardew changed it and plays us in 4:3:3 it has changed the outlook of the team especially with 3 man midfield…

    with 442 we looked flat….

it good now that 433 can become 451 as well..

Honestly lads what a talent the boy is ! He’s absolutely brilliant, Demba is maybe feeling bit jealous as they proberly have a little riverly that is unspoken – I know I would want to beat one of my mates in scoring (secretly) Demba to notch one on Monday hopefully

  • 81 Spuggy // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:32 PM

To be fair to Ben Arfa I thought his tracking back for the most part was excellent today – he was one of the most aggressive players!

  • 82 geordiejamie89 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:33 PM

Williams should have went off for pulling Cisse back when he was last man and through on goal, nevermind two yellows. It would have been harsh however, and Newcastle have enough not to need something like that to win, unlike Liverpool, who are hoping other teams let them win.

  • 83 Pecorino ( will let you figure it out) // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:33 PM

No fan can slag off Pards now, they got little change from us when they did it beforehand and now that 95% of the fans (random made up figure before someone slags me for it) support Pardew they would be greeted with hysteria.

wether ba is happy or annoyed i don’t think we have too much to worry about because if ba doesn’t score another goal this season then most big teams will not fancy him that much as he will show more signs of wanting to be the main forward than a forward that helps the rest of the team.
manure have rooney as there main forward
    arsenal have van persie
    city have sergio
    spur have adebyor
that leave only two big teams which are liverpool and chelsea. if i was ba after what has happened to torres and carrolls goal scoring ability i don’t think i would go to them

Great result for me, i think it is unlikely that we will win our next 3, as 7 on the trot is hard for any team in the world. Wigan away won’t be as easy as it seems as well.

    Indian Magpie @ # 2
Wohy do you have to detract from the win by complaining about a player????????????

It was a totally needless but of criticism.

    Absolutely and totally needless.

I refer to Super Magpie’s post, it covers it all really.

Great win, defended like lions!!perch realy good again, Swansea could be still playing now and they wud not score!! Cisse a born finisher!! Only thing for me was jonas, don’t like him in midfield, don’t get me wrong works hard but I just think if we cud get another cm player of the standard of cabaye and tiote we wud be flying, new left and cover cb,not looking bad at all

  • 101 Tsunki // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:39 PM

@72 if it was his first he would have got yellow for arm to throat, Webb knew he was on a yellow but let it go.

@85 – ‘Cabaye didnt anything else than give us two great assist’ ha ha what the hell are we doing with this useless donkey in the team? get him dropped I say! Good grief man have an opinion but don’t re-edit his game, you obviously couldn’t see him properly with the grainy internet feed. :)

  • 102 nufc786 // Apr 6, 2012 at 7:39 PM

those assists won us the game… on the 1st goal he demonstrated vision that scholes and xavi only have and then 2 nd goal alot of players would shoot but cabaye has that eye only the great players have when making those types of passes.

er also what can u do when the team you play only play from defence to midfield to defence to midfiedld and then bck to goal keeper. cabaye done well keeping the teams shape.

if u gave him 6 fair enough i think he would be alot higher

Smart bit of management today stay in our half and make them play through us. Not the nicest game to watch exept for 2 world class goals. I think Pardews going to the bolton game tomorrow Let hope he finds a way to get an emphatic win our goal difference could get us into europe. Pardiola I salute you.

I have voted for Cisse, but I thought the back 4 played well, ben arfa tracked all game and tore taylor apart when he went at him, Think Cabaye was taken off to rest him. A positive for Ba though is he still getting chances. Had one today where it deflected for a corner after he went through the middle. Think if he had the confidence he did before he went to the africans nations cup, that would have been back of the net, but looks like he has picked up a knock hence why he looked unhappy.

Jail for Ashley is a regular poster and has admitted that he may have been a bit hasty in his judgment he has had several helpings of humble pie and has been big enough to start to rephrase his “to good for Ashley’s” comments.

As for angry fan or as I call him “miffed man the somewhat irritated fan” I think he has vanished up his very own irritated anal orifice.

Excellent there Niafron nice one and I am sure you will be picking up more and more gems like that over time.

Cabaye was everywhere today – the amount of pressuring he does off the ball at both ends of the pitch help us out majorly, especially when facing a passing team like Swansea, which didn’t play to tiote’s strengths really as he never had a chance to get close enough to muscle players off the ball etc

  • 108 stestickle // Apr 6, 2012 at 8:09 PM

Has to be cisse MOTM cabaye close secound looks more effective in attacking midfield position and loving pardew was a bit critical 4-5 weeks ago but now proving me wrong not quite sir bobby love but getting there in pardew i trust

Lets not forget the lads who kept a clean sheet along with Cisse’s brace. Must have been very satisfying for Krul to put one over on his Dutch rival with another zero this season.

Will Simmo be out of Bolton game picked upa 5th yellow thats one game suspension i believe if so,pray Collo is back

Blog 72 couldnt agree more definitely a dangerous takle took Gosling out and almost chopped him in the throat at the same time should have been a red card

  • 113 Owldman // Apr 7, 2012 at 10:46 AM

Above blog should have read “Dangerous tackle.
