Papiss Cisse seems very down to earth, after his amazing efforts of yesterday in South Wales.
Papiss Cisee assaulted by Shane Ferguson after great second goal
And that’s good because the last thing we want from any Newcastle player is to get too carried away with their success.
But the two Senegal lads, Cisse and Demba Ba are both humble people, and that’s good when you are a striker.
Papiss wants to play in Europe next season, but he says we cannot get too far ahead of ourselves:
“Sure they can dream, and it’s their right – but for us we must stay focused, that’s pretty much our duty.” “That’s exactly what we plan to do.”
“But I’m delighted for our fans, they made so much noise and traveled such a long way.” “They deserve to be in Europe.”
“We can’t think about Europe yet. We must take it match by match.” “We hope to play in Europe next season, but we can’t look beyond the next game.”
“It is fantastic to play for these supporters – it’s a pleasure. I was happy for them.” “My first goal was thanks to Yohan Cabaye.” “His pass was superb, and he made it easy for me.”
“I was very pleased with the second goal.” “The manager has confidence in me, and this gives me the confidence to score goals like that.”
“Confidence is so important for a striker, and when you’re scoring goals, you are always confident you can score more in the next game.” “I just have to keep working hard.
“Fortunately, I’m scoring goals, and my confidence couldn’t be higher.”
Even the Newcastle fans are not getting too carried away with things at the moment (kind of), and a few years back we’d be saying all kinds of daft things.
But it’s possible Newcastle can make the Europa League, and that would be a huge unexpected bonus for the Newcastle club, and we could see the squad both strengthened in skill and numbers in the summer.
A place in Europe may also see Newcastle offer players like Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson improved contracts, to get them to stay on Tyneside.
But all that matters now is to win against Bolton on Monday afternoon, and anything but 3 points will dim the exploits of yesterday in South Wales.
It’s got to be another three points on Monday.
Comments welcome.

Comment #42toonking actually don’t know whether his off-field antics affected him, but he wasn’t that great on the pitch either imo. Missed a few corkers he did last time out. Was always a decent physical presence though, but I suppose you should be if you’re a propa gangsta boi 😉

Comment #48although a spuds win will be worse a draw i think will mean we won’t stand a chance of catching them be because the will need a loss and another draw prviding we win all our games because GD is too high with them

Comment #49I don’t think we’ve got much of a chance getting in the top 4. Our last 3 games are against, Chelsea, City and Everton, we’ll probably lose a few points there. If we could get 5th place it would already be extraordinary and I’d be danmed please with 6th also. What a season we’re having!

Comment #50Our squad is startin to look thin now
If Collo isn’t back then Perchy will have to be at Cb
Cabaye hopefully is ok but Tiote is out
Vukcic is again missing his chance, poor guy.
Abeid can defo play in there but didn’t feel confident with Rayls in there when he came on.
Great awareness by AP yesterday with tactics,
I for one gave him stick for some of the games where he got em very wrong so credit Ap where it’s due
Great team effort throughout the squad and a plus for us is those coming off the bench seem almost as good as those injured and a sign of a good squad although a lill thin

although they are hard on paper i think we can still achieve something from everton and city because as i said yesterday with everton if they get into the final there mind will be elsewhere when we play them while city someone else said by the time we play them they might have lost the title so will just be playing for pride as they won’t drop down to 3rd as fore chelsea well who knows they might feel a bit tired with the CL

Comment #56I dunno – spuds struggled today and I think they are regretting not taking all three points – I would feel vulnerable now if I was old sack face. They have some dodgy looking encounters with relegation battlers as well as chelsea in the cup. Interesting.

Obviously we will, we are talking of the CPL.
I suppose you suggest Pard could make some tactical changes.
Well, this 4-3-3 is already a very offensive formation, so we will probably continue like that.
Maybe will Pard make some more audacious choice to finish the games in case of Draw.

Comment #68draw was a decent result, but honestly sunderland, they are horrile to watch, every time i watch them they play some horrible stuff, all they do is sit back for the whole game and only attack from set pieces or in the last 10minutes.

Comment #72The unwashed are indeed a dire mob. They even sucked the interesting out of the spuds. I am hoping that Bolton bust a gut against fulham they desperately need points. Their legs should be like jelly day after tomorrow.

the reasons for that is quite obvious
1. schools focus too much english and maths so lack pe
2.health and safety ban things like sports day
3.children are more interested in computer games
4 councils have limited the amount of access children have to play football
5.it gets more dangerous for children every year to go outside
6. teenagers seem to be more interested in things like drugs alchol and other forms of crime which they probably get off footballers
There is lots more reasons TBH
but england in general is getting more poor every year with its football

Comment #74Watched that Scumderland vs Spurs game and as a lot of you have already said, it was a terrible game of football. Spurs had most of the game and never even came close to breaking them down, aside from when Lennon played VDV in behind the defence once in the second half. I can see this Spurs team dropping a lot more away points between now and the end of the season…we could make a real push for CL if we win our next 2 home games. Those are must win games…cannot believe we have a realistic chance of Champo League footy! 😀

Comment #80Niafron…With the way Cisse is scoring he must stay where he is. How amazing would it be if he keeps this form up until the end of the season? What a signing
