Newcastle are being linked with Grasshoppers full-back Bruno Bertucci, according to Sky Sports.
Bruno Bertucci – Zurich Grasshoppers left-back
The 21 year-old Brazilian left-back moved to Switzerland last year, when he joined the Zurich club from his home-town club, Corinthians, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
While at Corinthians he also played on loan at São Caetano, Eski?ehirspor and Bragantino, and the defender has looked good this season in the Swiss Super League, and is now firmly established as the first-choice left-back at Grasshoppers.
There are a number of clubs said to be interested in the player, according to Sky Sports, and they include Aston Villa, Sunderland, Stoke and QPR, as well as Newcastle, but of those clubs Newcastle seem to be the most attractive, if indeed the Magpies are interested.
And yes, there could possibly be just a little bit of bias in that opinion.
Bruno Bertucci has played around 20 times for Grasshoppers this season, and other clubs in Europe are also said to be interested in the 5’9″ tall defender, who is naturally left-footed.
Bertucci’s British representative Chris Nathaniel has told Sky Sports there is significant interest in his client, and especially from some English clubs:
“Bruno has performed at a very high level since moving to Europe, and this has not gone unnoticed.”
“We know of a number of clubs throughout Europe, but particularly in England, who are taking a keen interest.”
Newcastle have been linked with a number of defenders in the last few months, and it is thought the Tyneside club, who are pushing for European qualification this season, will bring in a top center-back and a left-footed left-back – at a minimum this summer.
Newcastle will be bolstering their defense, as well as other positions, as they attempt to improve their squad and increase the size of it for next season, after over-achieving in the English Premier League this term.
Newcastle are also expected to bring in at least one top young defender over the summer.
Here is some video of the youngster in action:

Comment #2He looks good. Tricky choice between him and Erik Pieters. Erik Pieters probably edging it as he’s been following Newcastle and is good friends with Tim Krul, which might be a deciding factor. Pieters has to be favourite, but it’s good to know there’s other options should the deal fall through.

Comment #4Would be great to sign both. Imagine having two LB’s. Then holding onto Danny Simpson and Santon fighting for RB is good competition. Then Coloccini and Steven Taylor, and somebody like Douglas, with Williamson as backup for CB. Gives us better options, with Ryan Taylor in the squad too.

Comment #6Prefer Erik pieter still. With his dutch teammate in goal it will be easier to communicate in defenceman and he can settle in faster. Defenders and goalie with common language is extremely useful for understanding.

Comment #7First of all, South Americans find it hard to settle in the premier league, and especially Brazilians so i think it would be a risk. I would prefer Erik Pieters, he is a proven dutch international, Erik played in both the europa & champions league with PSV, so that what we need. experienced and young and could get for cheap

This entirely off subject, but listen carefully
If you want to use the word “lose” as in
“I hope Chelsea lose”
The word only has ONE “o”
It is not “Loose”
“Loose” is used like this
“I wish I had learned the language better before I was set loose on the blogs”.
By the way Ed, hope all is well, that NUFC’s form is encouraging you in the fight.
Keep smiling.
Sorry for the rant, but it drives me round the proverbial.

On topic, we’e gonna be linked with alot of people and gawd knows who we’ll end up with start of next season, I just hope we keep hold of some (if not all) of our better players.
We should expect 3 points Monday, let’s hope our 3 forwards kick on and get them for us.If all the injuries are true it’ll be all hands to the pumps, fingers crossed…..

Comment #14Watching that clip excites me about the player, but u don’t see him doing much defending.
However, the things he does at such a great pace is a terrific to see, and require proper skill.
Seems a good one, obviously has a good rep aswell.
It remains to be seen. Coming from Grasshoppers i can’t see him cost much more than the £5 mill mark.

Comment #19I’m brazilian and I saw him many times…
He’s very good, is attacker, has a powerful shot, fast…
He didn’t make sucess in Corinthians ’cause Roberto Carlos was there, so he didn’t got his chance.
