Yohan Cabaye Could Miss The Game Today

Both of Newcastle’s central midfielders Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote could be missing this afternoon, in the vital home game against Bolton Wanderers.

Yohan Cabaye – playmaker could miss the game today

Cheick is almost certainly out after a recurrence of his hamstring,  and he was replaced by Ryan Taylor for the second half  in the 2-0 win at Swansea.

Yohan Cabaye was also withdrawn after 74 minutes, after setting up the two Papiss Cisse goals with two excellent first time though balls – and it takes some skill to do that.

Dan Gosling replaced Yohan and looked to be in decent form, as Newcastle held on well to their two goal lead.

We hope that Yohan’s withdrawal was a safety first move, and that he can start today, although with Alan Pardew saying there are seven or eight players in the treatment room,  there could be a few surprises when the team is announced around 2:00 pm today.

This is what Alan had to say this morning:

“It is part of having a great squad and a great ethic in the team.” “It was a great victory at Swansea and we want to get through the Bolton game.”

“I would take a draw if I am honest but we want to get through and be ready for Stoke.” “The problem for Bolton is they only have a two-day turnaround.”

“That is going to be tough on them after they had a very difficult game.” “Hopefully, we will be slight favourites.”

It will be difficult for Bolton to recover from their knocks with only one day to recover, and we could see one or two of their players sit out the game.

But it’s a vital game for Bolton , as they try to avoid relegation,  and it is also vital for Newcastle,  who are trying to qualify for Europe.

We have to hope that French International  Yohan Cabaye, Newcastle’s  number one play-maker,  is available today so he can provide the bullets for Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba, who we hope can notch his 17th goal for Newcastle this afternoon.

In fact it would be good to see both Senegal strikers on the score-sheet after the game and Ben Arfa too.

Howay The Lads!!

I think people are getting a little overconfident for this game, I’ve seen 4-0s. 4-1 5-0s and even a 7-1 . Remember wolves? I’d be happy with a 1-0 but this is banana skin game so anything could happen, they could come here and sit back the whole game.which would frustrate us like we did to Swansea on Friday.

Take a draw? Nonsense. AP is just been sheepish lately, doing his best to dim the ever brighter spotlight on us. I fully expect Cabaye to play and I think we’re just starting to see his true capabilities in this 4-3-3.

Agreed, as soon as we get cocky we end up being taught a lesson!

I’d take 1-0 win, with a smile and a handshake!

I’d take a narrow win too. That’s all that matters today, a win. Then we have a chance to regroup and freshen up for the Potters in 12 days.

Definite banana skin day, but if we hold it together then I’m more than confident of a win.
Really wanna see ba #1 get amongst the goals!
We really should be too much for bolton with our forward line, whatever side pardiola puts out I’ve got faith in : D

You cant under estimate anyone in this league, it would be foolish to go into this match thinking it will be easy. If Tiote and Cabaye are both out as well as Guthrie still missing that is a game changer. I think it will be very tough today.

Davies certainly does look a good player, and he’s young. I think He could quite easily fit into our squad if we went for a rotation system.

He has a nice passing game to him, a bit like Cabaye with less fire, but he seems to like attacking more than Cabaye. If the price is right then I would take him.

As for today, I think super magpie is right, Bolton is a team we have always found difficult wouldnt get too cocky. Hopefully Fulham game has worn them out and halted their momentum but they are a team that has the ability to out class most (just dont understand what has happened to them this season)

Also, Agree again with Super Magpie’s formation.

If Cabaye is out, i’d like to see Vuckic or Abeid in his place, someone with a bit of pace and young spirit in them.

I think Abeid is a much more creative player than people give him credit for. He is far more than a young Tiote, I think he’s more of a younger hybrid of Cabaye with a tiny bit of HBA’s magic to him.

Really hope Ba can grab a goal today, as much as I love Cisse it cant be nice for Ba to have been our main man only for all the spotlight to suddenly focus on Cisse.

But Ba’s hold up play has been great in recent games (maybe not Swansea, according to what I’ve heard)

Even if we are a bit thin in midfield it’s not going to be too bad, it’ll be good to see gosling or abeid getting a proper run out. Bolton will be looking to bounce back after Saturday and we won’t create as many chances from midfield, but I’m sure the front three will provide ample compensation. HTL!!!

Bolton are currently playing on pure adrenaline and determination after what happened in the FA cup, they cannot be underestimated and will come to play, not sit and defend, we’ll have to be at it to win today.

There are rarely any easy games in the prem, and Bolton are fighting for their survival. Let’s hope our desire for a European spot proves the necessary counter incentive.
I’m off to St James’ Park now ta ra.
