With Tottenham being beaten 1-0 tonight at QPR, Newcastle are now clear in 4th place in the Premier League on 62 points from 34 games.
Alan Pardew – been magnificent for Newcastle this season
QPR were reduced to 10 men late in the game when they were 1-0 up through a great Taarabt first half free-kick, when Taarabt was sent off for a dubious second yellow card for kicking the ball away after 78 minutes.
But QPR held out and moved to 5th bottom of the league with 34 points, and Tottenham seemed to lack conviction and even fight, against their London neighbors.
It was another dubious decision by referee Mark Clattenburg, which seemed again to be in favor of one of the top teams, and another poor decision by the referee.
But Newcastle are now 3 points clear of Tottenham and 4 points clear of Chelsea, after easily beating Stoke 3-0 this afternoon at St. James’ Park, and only 3 points behind Arsenal with a game in hand.
Newcastle have a terrific chance now of making the Champions League, and with four games to go, they may need only a couple of wins to do that.
In their six game winning streak, the lads have kept five clean sheets – and only conceded one goal while scoring 13 – astonishing.
Howay The Lads!!

fav player of the seasons for me is perch, simply because i never rated him and then he went and proved me wrong with some really impressive performances
12 magpie6699 // Apr 21, 2012 at 7:54 PM
Those people who were criticising Cabaye a few weeks ago – remember, form is temporary, class is permanent.
13 keeleytoon // Apr 21, 2012 at 7:55 PM
Pretty good choice really tom, any one else agree that perch’s passing and speed of his passing is actually quite good? actually quite accurate as well….
14 Robby Bobson // Apr 21, 2012 at 7:58 PM
Pardew said some nice words about Harper today..so glad.
Hope he doenst leave the club through the back door. Been a great servant for us and so loyal.
Pardew also requested the fans to buy all the home tickets at wigan as well!

the transition is huge in him and the team.

Perch even tried a flick or two today, spending a lotta time with the French n Argies will do that to ya
Think Collo has been so composed this season.
Willo was crap for a few games after injury but since has been top notch, diving header in defence today was magic.

@tiote4pm A better chance will come our way next season when our team is strengthened in the summer and we have Stephen Harper back in our goal.

Lads I am so proud!!!!! We are starting to play like daemons
21 Minato // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:10 PM
Yeh right now we are the team to beat and it couldnt have come at a better time. Enjoy what has been the best possible day and then we just have to get our feet on the ground and look to the wigan game. For me ranked as probably the most dominant overall performance all season (only missed one game) . Not a foot wrong by anyone today..fantastic team performance and that pleases me more than anything.

Gotta give Pards credit for getting the best out of his players. They look happy!
26 geordiesteve520 // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:14 PM
The only pass I have seen this season that can rival Cabaye’s was his own for Cisse’s against West Brom, simply stunning!

No doubt results went our way again but talk of CL is a little premature. I can see us beating Wigan but Chelsea, Man City and Everton are really tough. On today’s game Yohan had his best game for a while but Cisse is really impressing. His work rate, holding the ball up and feeding back to midfielders was top notch. We have a top top striker on our hands. The three key buys for next year are Centre Back, Right Back and Left Midfield, over to you Mr Carr
41 donno78 // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:31 PM

Liked the form table until I noticed we still have to play 3 out of the top 5. Having said that I bet everyone is dreading playing us at the mo.
aside from Cabaye I thought Ben arfa was Awsome today. He is the key as he is constantly stretching the opposition and drawing plays to him creating gaps in behind.
42 Indian Magpie // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:31 PM

43 donno78 // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:35 PM
Hotdog is marveaux not a left mid? Perhaps a right mid would be better although I still have hopes for Obertan. Defo need a right back that can go forward as well as defend. Every other position we are really either building squad depth or improving a good player with a very good player. Personally would love fellaini in our Center 3.
44 hotdog // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:36 PM
Jesus – Just heard Pulis, how exactly is Cabaye’s goal a “Bad Goal” Sometimes you hold your hands up, nowt you could do against that quality, Pr**k!
45 SmileyFace // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:38 PM
@41 Agree mate, but as you say, people don’t want to come near us with a 10ft barge pole ! There’s a reason we are a form team, and i’m a little bit glad (ish) we have a tough run in. If we still make it, it shows because of class and skill, not because of an easy run in ! Let’s batter the so called big boys and enjoy nights in Milan and Madrid once more !!
46 donno78 // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:38 PM
Would love stoke relegated next season. Not good to watch and can’t stand pullis. Wouldn’t mind villa joining them with qpr
47 hotdog // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:39 PM
donno78 – Aye sorry Marveaux agree but give up on Obertan had enough chances he just isnt a player. We should never ever sign another player from man utd ever

its a season, where every team plays other team 2wice what r u going on abt run in

50 Indian Magpie // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:42 PM

51 SmileyFace // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Aha, the focal point of jibes from Indian Magpie. Splendid !
Your point is completely 100% true. Well done.
Regardless of that fact, a generic term for the last few games of the season is called the run in.
Playing teams above you or close to you, would deem it a tough run in.
Playing teams below you, near the relegation zone, could be classed as an easy run in.
Doesn’t always work out on paper though – but hey, hope this helps !
52 hotdog // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Hoilett is on a free at end of season and id love to see him in toon colours. We might get mock up in tomorrow’s Sunday papers
53 Indian Magpie // Apr 21, 2012 at 8:48 PM
smiley face,
its not a jibe, you mean to say that if spuds have won the race it was bcoz of their easier run in
54 geordiejamie89 // Apr 21, 2012 at 9:36 PM
Wow. What a group of players. 4th a real possibility now. And that money could fund some great signings. Would be great to be here again next season, and with a bit more depth it will be possible even with Europa.
