With Everton dropping two points at Old Trafford this afternoon it means that Everton cannot now catch Newcastle.
Alex Ferguson today – looks like Red Devils didn’t do very well
Everton twice came back from two goals deficits to draw with Manchester United 4-4, and the Red Devils dropped two vital home points, that could even cost them the Premier League title this season.
Manchester City tweaked a 2-0 win at Wolves, but were hardly very convincing, as Wolves were relegated, but they are now just 3 points behind Manchester United and have gained 5 points on them in the last three league games.
In 10 games the new Wolves manager Terry Connor has been in charge, he has picked up points only at Sunderland and Newcastle, and has eight losses and only two points.
The Manchester teams play each other a week tomorrow at the Etihad Stadium, and a City win to go with the 6-1 thrashing of United last year, will see them take over leadership of the Premier League on goal difference.
With Everton’s well earned draw today, they are on 48 points but are now a full 14 points behind Newcastle, who have 62 points in 4th place, with just four games to go.
And that means that Newcastle will at least finish in 6th place in the league and will definitely get a Europa League position.
And even if Manchester City beat Manchester United in eight days time, their next game will be at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United on the following Sunday, 6th May.
And the expensive and overpaid Manchester City players will need to play a lot better than they did today at Wolves, to get anything out of a resurgent Newcastle side.
It will also be Newcastle’s final home game of the season, and they will want to do extra well in that final game, so they can then take the plaudits from the Geordie fans after the match, for what has been an absolutely amazingly successful season.
So as well as Newcastle potentially qualifying for a Champions League for next season, the Magpies could also determine who becomes the Premier League Champions this season.
We have a feeling that Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini isn’t exactly looking forward to bringing his team to St. James’ Park in two weeks time.
And one last thing, Liverpool managed to lose 1-0 at home to West Brom today, and those expensive strikers again failed to score, and it could be Liverpool’s American owners bring in a new manager over the summer, and move Kenny Dalglish upstairs.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #2I am absolutely delighted by our results, ecstatic. Unlike some supporters I’m not going to turn around and thank Ashley or Llambias, with open arms for the clubs achievements; although in the long turn it has (up until now) worked out, I don’t believe we had to go through all that turmoil when he first took over.
I believe most of the work is down to the players, and the wiz who decided that we didn’t need overrated, overpaid aged English players, but instead we needed some fresh hungry younger players has totally worked out.
I actually BELIEVE we can make it into the CL, if you consider us to Tottenham who are completely hopeless at the moment, and to a stuttering Chelsea who are almost lucky to claw through their results, we are the team in form.
I’ve seen us play every single game this season, and we have improved massively, to a team who at the start of the season clawed out results to now a team who confidently dominated and commands nearly every game.

Comment #4Love how Mancini said “Manchester don’t have any more hard games, we have one.”
So who’s that ‘one’?
Yup, you guessed it!
Damn right i’ll be a hard game for him! HWL.

Comment #5Grinding out results while gelling new players together – Pardew has done an awesome job.
Not much talk of hoofball anymore but I’m sure if needed we can mix it up – that is what makes us a difficult proposition to play against. Arsenal and Liverpool play the same way every game and teams know how to cope with that.
It wont just be champagne football from know on and we should appreciate the tactical qualities needed to play different ways and get results when your having an off day.

Comment #7Anybody else know that tomorrow may see a new Premier League hat-trick record being set by Roy Hodgson.
His team have beaten Wolves, Chelsea & Liverpool this season and as a result Mick McCarthy & Andre Villas-Boas were sacked following those losses.
All eyes on Kenny Dalglish tomorrow then…

Comment #10I think the hunger of the players will get the job done to secure champions league footy. Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Colo, Krul, Cissé and Ba are desperate to ply their trade in th CL it’s where I belive they belong as players, hopefully they get there as Newcasle players. These are exciting times for Newcastle and long may it continue.

Comment #13Final thought of the night:
Scott Parker – 0 goals, 1 assist – candidate for player of the year.
Dreamboat – 5 goals, 9 assists, most tackles made in the league and most distance covered – completely overlooked.

Comment #21As much as i’ll be over the moon when we beat man city at st james and pay them back for our defeat at there hands earlier in the season, which will also all but cement our place in the champions league. i will be a little dissapointed if we are the reason man utd win the league again. its a weired situation to help ourself we have to help my second most hated team after the mackems aaaahhggg!!

Comment #22Hmmmm! Interesting! If i had to choose who i want to win the League between Manure and Shitty?
Its a difficult decision to make but i think my preference goes out to Manure! Shitty are all about Multi-Millionaire Deals for players who are only out to make as much money as they can!
You could argue that Shitty deserve the Titel but that argument just does,nt wash with me! The Club is,nt relly about Football its just about the Money that they,ve got and can spend on Transfers! Was,nt it Shitty who bid 120 Mil for Messi not so long ago!
All the news this morning is about this Manchester Derby next week deciding the Title ! We play Shitty at home and i want to absolutely thrash them ! And in so doing maybe end up getting Manure the title !
We just need to concentrate on Winning our games which may be obvious but if we carry on winning and the rest keep dropping points ( Re- the Gooners and Chelski Saturday )!
The Spuds lost too and Liverfool Too!
One game at a time lads, results went our way again this week!
Don,t know where this is going but we could even Pinch Third!
By the way the list of players nominated for the PFA awards was a total joke and not really representative of the League at the moment!
Krul should have been on that list together with Collo!
And van Persie is one player who has gone down in my estimations over the last few months!

If we win our outstanding game and come level on Points with them! They only need to slip up once and aThird is up for grabs!
Should,nt get so carried away really but results in the last few weeks have all gone our way!
We could conceivably drop points too in our last few matches!

Comment #26Never rated Scott Parker. He is overrated and doesn’t do enough in games from what I can see. If Spurs had Tiote in the team, they’d be in a top four position now.
