Newcastle Midfielder Our Man Of The Match Against Stoke

It’s hardly surprising that Yohan Cabaye has received 79% of the votes for our Man of the Match.

Yohan Cabaye and Papiss Cisse after Newcastle’s second goal yesterday

The French International was the man who dismantled Stoke’s defense yesterday, and he scored two goals, his 4th and 5th goals for Newcastle this season, and he made Papiss Cisse’s goal with a perfectly weighted through ball,  that split the Stoke defense wide open.

And only  a few minutes after he scored his second goal after 57 minutes, Yohan Cabaye was taken off to roars of  approval and appreciation from the sold-out Geordie crowd,  and on came local lad Shola Aemobi.

Davide Santon, who is continuing to improve big time in a Newcastle United shirt, and Ben Arfa, the maker of that first goal yesterday, are next in the voting.

Now’s the chance to register your vote – if you haven’t already voted.

I said a while back that Cabaye would be on the score sheet soon – he’s got such a good engine and get’s into the box a lot since we changed our shape and he plays more forward.

He’s gonna be instrumental player for us – he reminds me of Carrick, but I think he has a better engine and is harder in the tackle.

    Just another great newcastle player!!!

I recon we’ll get per season:

    25+ goals from Cisse
    15+ from Ba
    10+ from HBA
    10+ from Cabaye

What a forward line!! And with Tiote and Jonas behind them we are rock solid. They were everywhere yesterday covering. Love the Jonas/Santon Combo on the left – looks solid. Pards has really come up with a magic formula for this team which allows the front lads to really express themselves.

We literally just need a CB and RB to have top quality in all positions in the first 11! Then we look to cover and rotation and pick out a few young gems – go Carr!!

Tiote’s first shot yesterday, oh my!!! That would have gone through the net and out the stadium if that went in. Santon was outstanding and i think that Ba looked better than he has in the last few games. He needs that goal though!

With regards to our defence let’s not forget Stephen Taylor will be back next season, and providing he is able to play as well as he could before his injury he’ll be able to slot in defence quite easily and he’s a quality player.

Also people are saying we need some better defenders, let’s not forget we’ve kept 5 clean sheets in 6 games and the only goal we did concede was due to a stupid mix up.

Also, Cisse can still make the top ten goalscorers this year and is currently 11th! Not bad, considering he gave everyone else a 6/7 month headstart! Robin Who?

My my my, I was over the moon when we were still “in with a chance” of Europe. Battling it out with, ermmm…what are they called again? Liverpool?

    Wasn’t that long ago 🙂

CL is our’s for the taking, although we do have some tough games coming up, which we shouldn’t underestimate. We completely outclassed Stoke yesterday (from my 15 minutes of highlights footage – No, I’m not Dennis Wise 🙂 ) – a performance of a team going places. Can’t wait to see some of that on the European stage…this is going to be one long summer guys! HWTL!

Garreth@8 the problem with staylor is that he cant play a full sesaon the poor lad is almost a woodgate mk2! So i think we do need a cb who could be a starter and worst case him and styalor can battle for first team

Yeah I guess you’re right #12. He is very injury prone, but when he’s back he’ll be incredible cover for the European and cup games.

I know we’re always looking to just the next game, but after yesterdays results is anyone else getting a little excited?

The skill in passing and retaining the ball yesterday would have been excellent on a warm sunny day.

Considering the conditions – peeing down – the control and passing was immense.

I have to say that from just before the first goal through to half time, we would have beaten anyone yesterday. We looked superb. Cabaye, as some of us predicted, looks brilliant with quality forwards to give the ball to. It was obvious earlier in the season that when he was looking for a pass, Leon Best, Obertan and others were playing musical statues.

Now we have a front 3 that are constantly on the move, Jonas and Cheick always available and 2 full backs who are getting involved. We always have options and every time we go forward you think something might happen. The blend is perfect.

There is no doubt though that the second goal was top class, Cabaye looked up and Cisse was off, he knew where to run, Cabs knew where to put it.

Cisse’s first touch is as good as any striker in the Prem, he is a genius, and his smile is infectious. I love watching him, HBA, Demba, and others having a good time and clearly enjoying being here.

Roll on Saturday, we can win again.

Cant believe these idiots get paid to do this!

got to laugh when people say we have a tough run in, every game is a hard one in the pl, i,d rather be playing everton who won,t have anything to play for and hopefully city won,t than play a team fighting to stay up, these are the teams that are causing all the upsets just now, lets hope we can go to chelsea with a 4 point gap, i think its between us and chelsea now for 4th, spuds are looking very disjointed with no confidence and they look tired, i,d love to beat chelsea but i think a draw would be good enough for us if we can beat wigan next week
