Papiss Cisse Appreciative Of Fans’ Love And Respect

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse is keen to repay the Newcastle fans,  with everything he has got on the football pitch.

Papiss Cisse – scoring that great second goal at Swansea

Newcastle are currently in an amazing 4th place in the Premier League above Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool.

And it’s certainly true that Papiss Cisse’s  11 goals in just 10 games, since he made his debut in early February against Aston Villa, wearing that famous number 9 shirt,  has had a lot to do with Newcastle’s surge up the league table this year.

Papiss is fast becoming a folk hero on Tyneside,  and when he went for a (quiet) haircut in Gateshead last week, word soon got around,  and he was mobbed by 50 young fans when he left the barber’s shop – such is the passion for football on Tyneside.

And of course they just love their footballers at Newcastle –  that’s for sure.

Newcastle still have four games to play this season, and there’s a possibility Newcastle can even make the Champions League for next season.

But Papiss isn’t taking anything for granted – although he admits he has been the recipient of  much  love and respect from the fans.

This is what he told Sky Sports News this afternoon:

“The fans of Newcastle show me a lot of love and respect. It is important I return that respect by giving my all for them on the football field.”

“The attention off the field is nice, but my focus is football. It is the right thing for us not to get ahead of ourselves.”

“It is a bit of a cliche, but we really are just taking each game as it comes and we will see where we finish at the end of the season.”

“But, of course, the Champions League would be nice.”

The goal is obviously now the Champions League – since Newcastle have already qualified for the Europa League.

The Magpies will even have a chance of doing that if a certain Papiss Cisse keeps banging in those goals,  from the half chances he gets.

Howay The Lads!!

Our players have been fighting criticism all season and have been labled underdogs since the start.

With confidence and the plaudits they deserve we must be able to really kick on now.

That is why well shall stuff Wigan.

Confidence is a quality unrivalled by any other mental state in sport.

I was out in Leeds last night and when I went to the toilet a load of Leeds lads were singing the Cisse song. It was so random but it just shows that everyone loves him and are routing for us in the league. Well, apart from scum and the smogs. Good to finally see us put a statue up of Sir bob as well, hopefully Shearer will have one made.

Well it’s been another pleasurable session boys. Some super stats, much reading between the lines, some foul mouthing and some good football banter along the way to.

    Until next time

I feel with Cisse, Tiote and Benny in the team we can take on anybody, i really do believe something unrivalled in premier league history could happen and we could just blow everybody away until the end of season and take 3rd, with these boys giving 100% anything could happen, a truly super exciting end to the season.

tarie4 – super little read that, loves the place clearly and obviously in awe of Ben10’s ability, gotta say the team has been transformed since the introduction of them both, Cisse has been magnificent but Ben Arfa has been just unreal and for me is chiefly responsible for our great run.

Suspended Terry can lift trophy, say Uefa.

Not sure why Bayern Munich would want him joining in their celebration?

Wouldn’t write off Chelsea, I said they’d get crushed by Barca and they went through :(. Although I hope bayern is a step too far for them, plus bayern are in their own stadium so they get an advantage.

If any of our players Benny/Cisse/Dreamboat dont get player of the month i will go down to Premier League headquarters and burn it down. I really believe next year if he stays fit Benny will be a possible for Player of the Year he is that good, a supremely gifted kid.

Big pappa, never got into it, love boxing but find the UFC a bit brutal, understand the lads train hard and are skilful but its all about maximum punishment to their opponent, doesnt seem the seem mutual respect between rivals as boxing. Top boys im sure are very professional but some of these cage fighting shows are pretty much weekend warriors and bullies getting their violence fix.

    Big PC

I remember seeing a documentary about UFC a while back (not my idea). I can’t remember it’s name though.. maybe you’ve seen some of those? I think it’s a pretty “famous” docu. It might have been MMA though…

This was from the time when there were no rules or something. So I remember the main “character” that they followed said something like this. “If I ever had a chance to gouge someones eye out, would I do it? Definitely.”

It was just horrible stuff really. It was very hard to watch and me and my friend only saw half of it..

    That’s my sole experience with MMA/UFC. 😛

Boxing is amazing to watch….the heavy weight division has 2 of the most skilled fighters ever…..shame they have no competition.

And other weight divisions are brilliant….look at mayweather, paquiou, not to mention the amount of really talented british fighters coming through, Tyson Fury, David Price, Amir Khan, Nathan Cleverly, (haye was always good to watch and a great cruiser weight)…there is a lot out there.

And anyway….back to football…..I posted a comment on an arsenal site today saying if they had ben arfa and tiote in there team they would be up with the two manchester clubs (providing they had a fit defence)

They all laughed it off saying ben arfa is not good enough for them and song is a better tackler…….i hte the arrogance of the so called ‘big clubs’ fans….think there players are so much better yet they are only 3 points ahead of us…possibly level if we win our game in hand.

And spurs bang on aabout modric….good stat for you…..he has less goals and assists this season than charlie adam.
