Previous Post Shocking Show By Newcastle - Restore That Geordie Pride Quickly
It was an embarrassing display by Newcastle United today, a shocking display in fact, and they were 4-0 down against 4th bottom Wigan Athletic at the half. Victor Moses – after scoring second goal after 15 minutes today…

Next Post We Couldn't Match Wigan's Intensity And Were In Big Trouble
Alan Pardew got it right after the game, when he said that Newcastle just couldn’t match Wigan’s intensity today, especially in the first half. Wigan players celebrating Di Santo’s superb goal just before half time Wigan started this…

Comment #1For me to improve next season we need to bring in top players to play the follwoing position:
CB -staylor had an outstanding start but still need the top class cover
RB simmo is average to poor prem rb
CM – jonas works his socks off and i like him but need another quality cm to take his place. Another cabaye please lol.
LW – BA does not cut it out on the left and need someone in the HBA mould that can beat people at will. Hoillet anyone?
Get these positions in then we would have a very strong team and squad.

Comment #3Who’s going to actually watch these lowlights? I certainly am not.
Anyway, I think Wednesday’s game against Chelsea will be a pivotal game for Ba, if he wants to remain at this club he needs to play with passion, and above all he needs to look interested… Again, it’s not his fault we’ve lost, but as a paying fan I expect 100% effort, and if I don’t see that then I’m going to be disgruntled.
Anyway, we can take great satisfaction from HBA and Santon, two fantastic players in the making.
Simpson, is an average PL RB, better suited to a team like Villa, and Willo should be playing in a team like Wolves not NUFC… we’re going to need to replace these deadwood who’ve been brought in by previous regimes if we are to achieve CL football, anytime again in our life time.
Pardew must act.

Comment #5nufc 83 add to the list a forward just for the sake of protecting shola from abuse because if cisse is not available and we use shola i hate to think how much abuse others give him even though he desrve credit

Comment #6Yes, I am being harsher than usual; but that’s what £100 down and a long journey back to Newcastle does to you.

Comment #9i still don’t put this down as as bad a defeat as fulham was let’s face it wigan in recent weeks have won against manure arsenal liverpool and should have beaten chelsea, therefore we weren’t expect an easy game that’s for sure.

Comment #12toonking i would still play the 433 and have the new LW start with BA as the cover on the bench. Shola turns in perofmances when he needs to and does a job off the bench. Play him week in week out and he is shocking as he gets comfortable.

Comment #14Well. I’ve been in Inverary castle and no signal. Get out and it appears the wheels have fallen off. I’m giving up the prediction business before – go bankrupt.
I will get home and watch the highlights on sky before passing judgement and condemnation. I would hazard a guess and say simmo upfield again but I know nothing at this stage. Later.

Comment #16what can i say that was shocking. were we too laid back now that the pressure was off? probably. wigan played us of the park completley dominated. that dents a hole in the cl dream. why wigan? its embarrsing to all the 4500 geordies tht went there. i expect an apology from pards and the team. we need to regroup all guns blzing for chealsea… thts all i can say really credit to martinez got his tactics spot on

Comment #18Wigan played very, very well in the first half, it must be said. A little lucky, but they were quick passing the ball…and newcastle’s defense was caught out of place time and time again.
It was the fulham game all over again. Newcastle players were playing too far forward after the first goal & we were exposed to counterattacks.
It didnt help that Ben Arfa, Ba and Jonas had poor games. Santon didnt play bad…neither did Cisse (although he was offsides half the game)

wigan’s intesity was a shock to all of our team. they shudve known what they were up against but sadly looked blown away by it. unable to respond until signs of life in the 2nd half but too little to late. we need to regroup for chelsea

Comment #20Willo beat in the air for first one or beat for strength anyway, Collo poor clearance and unluckily came straight back out for Moses, Simmo got skinned for the last one ball watching, and FINALLY a world class strike from Di Santo – no one would have stopped that. I thought Moses was unplayable at times today.
We had a couple off the bar and wide, could have gone in on another day but we were simply outplayed and outfought by a team who are very good on their day – they’ve taken some big scalps at home.
So it’s a bad day at the office. Willo and Simmo aren’t world class, but they’re not as bad as some are making out. Yes we need to strengthen in those positions but you can’t win em all!!
We have europa if we dont get 4th. I’m still chuffed with the season! Why am I positive – because I manage my expectations, today was never going to be a given how some fans have been talking, like we’re going to win the remaining 4 games – come on! We’re not that good yet.

was wigans 3-4-3 formation simular to what barcalona play because if so then could you have seen us get a result if we went 4-5-1 like chelsea did against barca

Comment #25hmm he was too much yes but thats what happens when you have great movement and make runs in behind like he does. He had 3 excellent chances and a good chance to score today and he was v unlucky. I would be happy if teams continue to play the high line tbh as they will get stung by cisse on most days.

i guess so we didnt exactly adapt to this style and cisse was not going to be aware about this. chealsea had 9 men in the box and torres running around chasing anything hit long. i doubt we would do what chelsea did but i think we were two open playing 4 3 2 1

Comment #32i think it will be too much of a risk starting santon at LB if we want to win the last 3 games. the differance with last week was stoke were not desperate for a result therefore santon was ok doing what he likes doing.
but if we want cabaye jonas cisse ba and HBA all to keep going forward then i would say perch is who i would put as the LB

Comment #33Will Ba be dropped from the starting lineup?
Based on his performance in the past two months, I think he should be.
Style of play does not suit him. Hard to say exactly what his role is even. He’s not a winger. He just seems to wander around lost. He reminds me of that kid who you played with, as a boy, who just stood in front of goal and waited for the ball to drop to him.
His work rate is shocking.
He tried passing the ball once in the second half and it just slowly rolled toward a Wigan defender…Ba just stood there watching, seemingly confused.
