The stars could be aligning for Newcastle this season.
Grant Holt – after putting Norwich ahead in first half
In a tense game at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon, Arsenal managed to drop 2 valuable points against Norwich City, as the game ended in a 3-3- draw, after Norwich had been leading 2-1 for much of the game.
And that, after it seemed initially like it was going to be a cake-walk for Arsenal, with Yossi Benayoun scoring after just 65 seconds.
But Norwich were up for this game, and they amazingly came right back into the game in that first half, and they were ahead by the break, with goals from Wesley Hoolahan and Grant Holt, who hit his 14th Premier League goal of the season.
In the second half, things were still fairly even, but Arsenal were coming more into the game, but both sides missed good opportunities to score.
But it was Robin van Persie after 72 minutes who got one back for the Gunners, and then the Arsenal captain seemed to have done the job on 80 minutes, when he put Arsenal ahead 3-2.
But then it was Steve Morrison, who put the cat among the pigeons again, when he equalized for Norwich City with a beautiful goal on 85 minutes, and the game finally ended 3-3, and Arsenal had dropped two precious points.
Arsenal went close a few times in the last few minutes, but it was not to be, and the Gunners shot themselves in the foot, and not for the first time this season.
The Arsenal defense again looked hopeless today, with the goalkeeper Wojciech Szcz?sny culpable for the first goal which hit him, before going into the net, and it’s a shot he really should have saved easily.
What this means could be huge for Newcastle, since Arsenal are now only 2 points ahead of Newcastle, and if Newcastle win tomorrow against Manchester City at home, we will go one point above the Gunners.
Indeed it really puts Newcastle in the driver’s seat, because if Newcastle win their last two games of the season they will finish above Arsenal in the league table, and in at least 4th place.
Nobody could have dreamed up an ending like this one to the Premier League this season, and it’s now up to Newcastle tomorrow to show us what they are made of.

Comment #5Wow! what a result? Now tomorrow we should really go for win and there in no doubt we can do that. After all we haven’t lost at home in 2012. If we win tomorrow last day of the season is really gonna get nervy for both North London clubs: Arsenal and Spurs. So 3rd place is up for grabs for our Toon Army.
Simply Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment #8Cracking result for Norwich, more importantly important result for us.. If only we had of atleast drew at Wigan eh, nevermind.. So ‘IF’ we win tomorrow and Villa nab a draw at home to Spurs we’ll be a point clear in 3rd and 2 points ahead of Spurs in 5th.. going into the Everton game which will be so so so hard and probably one of our hardest games of the season they wont be resting anyone but weve got a good record down there against them so going into the final game of the season automatic qualification to europes elite league competition would be in our own hands which is the best way!!

Comment #13So, we win our next 2 and 4th is the worst we’ll do, don’t even need Spurs to drop points now if we get 6 points (Which wont be easy I know), although if they do, we would get 3rd.
Thanks Norwich! Now it’s in our hands…

Two more wins, and we’re back in the CL adventure. And getting through the group stages, think of the money…

Comment #15Pardew has said he can’t stop Tiote from playing even if he wants. And player himself has admitted this is gonna be the biggest game in his Newcastle career.
Hmmm…… It means Tiote is really charging himself for some heavy tackles against Nigel de Jong and Yaya Toure…

WE FINISH AHEAD OF THEM IF:
We beat City and Everton
We beat City and lose to Everton if Arsenal lose to WBA
We beat Everton and Lose to City if Arsneal lose to WBA
We draw to City and beat Everton if Arsenal dont beat WBA
We beat City and draw to Everton if Arsneal dont beat WBA

Comment #17Ideal situation would be for Us to beat Citey tomoz & for the Spurts to draw or lose, then we just need the Toffee’s to beat Wolves & Cessepool to draw with Chelski on Wednesday nite, that way, when we play the Toffee’s next Sunday, they don’t have to win because they’ll be safe in 7th, with Cessepool 5pts behind them & wont need to put up a fight to destoy our chances of getting 3rd because they’ll not catch Chelski in 6th 🙂
Now that would be a dream come true 🙂

Comment #21I can’t take this rollercoaster anymore. Going to put myself in a coma until next Sunday night and accept the final standings and celebrate a wonderful season regardless of our position – WHICH COULD BE AS HIGH AS THIRD!

Comment #28Gotta credit Norwich too, no hanging back for a draw, they should have had 2 penalties and 2 Arsenal players sent off, Im sick of referees this season not giving penalties to lower teams (heres a clue to all referees , if its a foul and a free kick outside the box, then its a foul and a penalty inside the box).
Also, if you book a player for a foul in the 1st half and they do the same foul in the second half, then its another yellow and then a red, not one last warning(to players from the big 4 teams).
I understand the referee is there to manage an event rather than referee the game but, the game will continue just the same if you send a player off.
It could easily have been 3 points to Norwich and I can understand if their manager whinges about the decisions, after all those let offs for Arsenal could cost Norwich 1 0r 2 positions in the league and the extra revenue that brings.
As well as that, the extra point Arsenal got could benefit them by 20 mil.
Rant over, looking forward to the game tomorrow, I may leave a little earlier so I can take in the new statues and get some photies.

Comment #30Fancy us to score 4 or more v shity. We haven’t scored more than 3 in the league this season, so we are over due giving oot a hammering. If we can get an early goal and shity have to chase the game the gaps will open for us to exploit. Cisse and Ba doubled with 4 5 and 6 will be a good bet in my opinion. Also Cisse 40/1 and Ba 80/1 for hat-tricks look good wii Ba saving up his goals and Cisse scoring when he wants.
Drogba to score 1st and sink Liverfool in the final.

Comment #31anticipation is overwhelming… just need to be 100% solid first 15 minutes.. the back 4 and Tiote and Cabaye don’t roam too far forward…
can’t afford to give up an early goal as we haven’t been good chasers this season

cos players will be willing to stay if we can maybe meet them halfway on wage increases

Comment #37Win tomorrow and we ensure 5th place, forget CL for a second but two years ago we fighting to be promoted and Chelsea were being crowned Champions, win and we’ll finish above them. Remarkable, then consider Liverpool and their hand picking of our stars.
We have 19 more points at this stage of the season than last year. Thats unbelievable, even if we’re smashed 5-0 tomorrow I hope everyone in SJP stays behind to clap the lads around the pitch on what has been our best season since 2002/03.
That said I think we’ll win 4-3 ! HWTL

Yes if we score first : 85% Chance for Win
10% Draw
5% Loss
If we concede first game could be done and dusted by the end of first half.
