Alan Pardew’s BBC Interview After Tough Defeat – Video

Here is Alan Pardew’s BBC interview after the diappointing defeat against manchseter City this afternoon.

Alan is right when he says he couldn’t have asked any more from his players, who gave their all today.

Here’s the interview – it’s a good one for Newcastle fans to watch – and don’t forget we could still end up in 3rd place. 😀

We were unlucky today, 1-0 would have probably been a fair reflection on the whole, or a 2-1.

I placed £10 on use to finish top four at 40/1 back in Jan, but I’d happily pay that to see us get there!

I actually think we are in a better position than we could have hoped for at the start of the weekend, what with both Arsenal and Spurs dropping 2 points they were expected to get.

    Howay the lads! 😀

I’m going to be controversial here and go against the grain.

What a great season with many outstanding memories but today we were truly awful. We looked sluggish, lacked quality and our goal threat was non existent.

I am not trying to dampen a great season but I beg to differ from the general ‘we tried’ consensus.

That was a mid table performance at best and we showed a real ck of character today. It goes to show we are crying out for more players who can make a difference.

Willo was poor, Perch was decent but got done a lot, Tiote looked concussed, Cabaye had a torrid time, Benny was average, Ba was sloppy and erm Cisse didn’t turn up.

Like I said though 1 game shouldnt over shadow a terrific season. I am proud of the players for the year we’ve had but not proud of the players for today.

Yes City are ‘world class’ but we are the same nufc that stuffed Man Ure and there was a lack of similar ferocity today.

I may get lambasted for my opinion but I hope you can appreciate the honesty in my appraisal and wonder if anyone else feels the same?!

Ok just going back home through gateshead now, just got out of players lounge! Got pics of loads of players with my young lad. 🙂

Yes very jammy. Simmo has a velcro boot on so his injury is very real. Nice to see Peter Lovenkrands there too. I was a bit disturbed that Nikos Dabizas walked through a crowd of fans and no-one seemed to notice him!

What a day, shame about the loss but what did we really expect against a team that costs more than a reasonably – sized nation?

Beattie – I think we paid the price of battering chelski and looked a bit tired and ragged while city were in top form. Ref was a bit harsh on us but like – said tired legs with half a step in pace missing makes for poor timing. On a regular week I think they wouldn’t have had us.

Whatever Happens I’ll Be Very Happy.

1- We have beaten the Champions off the park.

2- We’ve shocked the Champions League Finalists.

3- We’ve matched probable League Champions for most of the match.

4- We’ve secured the Europa League after years without European football.

5- We’re within touching distance of at Top 4 finish in our last game!

6- We have undoubtedly one of the most dangerous attacking forces in the league and are the envy of most teams around Europe as our team is packed with fully committed, young and talented professionals that will only get better.

7- We have a great manager that was even tipped to become the new England manager at some point and has transformed our team into a hard working, quality side from the mess it was in.

8- We have surprised everyone with our tremendous run in the league this season and broken all sorts of records.

9- We now have a worthy bearer of the famous Number 9 shirt who is making us all very proud an is probably the signing of he season.

Amazing Season and Pardew, Ashley, the backroom staff and the lads deserve all the plaudits for what has been a truly unbelievable season.

You’ve all made me proud and I am looking forward to what exciting new signings will be coming our way in the summer ahead.

It was a case of the better team on paper defeating the lesser team on paper. It happened against Arsenal and it happened today.
The lads gave it their all, thats clear. Maybe one or two was below par, but that is o be expected in every game.

We have one last shot for CL away against Everton. Lets grab the win, and let the other teams play their game.

yea bit gutted we got beat the way we did. just didnt show enough drive going forward at all

we had a few chances though and i felt we defended well at times. that first goal was always gunna be the clincher

a few of our players had nightmares today . tiotes passing in the first half was awful and ben arfa didnt look like he even wanted the ball.

cracking season will be nicely rounded off with an away win next weekend though haha

    Wor Shearer – Thank you.

Last Season we proved our worth in the league to come just short of a top 10 finish.

This season we’ve stepped toe to toe with the big boys right to the very end and disrupting the usual Top 4 in style.

Next Season: Only God knows but if we keep improving at this rate we could become a top 4 team for years to come!

Really looking forward to our last game with Champions League still up for grabs! (amazing I know)

After that who knows what European adventure we will be playing and it will be a really exciting summer as far as transfers are concerned. We also have the chance to see Cabaye and possibly HBA’s value increase with good displays in the European Championships. It’s all good and I love it! 🙂

we were trying right until the finish today things did not come off for us but man city had to do some pretty hard defending at the end of that game, the extra bit of quality they have at the moment told, on another note i cannot remember a completed pass that cisse and ba have had together with each other, the odd header on but i cant remember a single time when they have completed a pass to one another.

A little harsh there beattie, we were clearly tired after having played an extremely tough game on Wednesday and won despite being battered in the second half, and here we were playing the champions elect and a far better team, give the lads a break eh? until the first goal went in they didnt really look like breaking us down.

Here we have beautiful ladies, sunny weather and mostly ManUre, Chelski, Liverfool, Barca and Real Madrid fans.

Hardly any Newcastle Fans. I used to catch most matches in the pub along with a few Newcastle supporters but now more often than not I prefer to see it here at home and get the match banter with all you great fans on Ed’s terrific blog.

Yes I know this season has exceeded expections but I thought today our tactics were rubbish.
I firmly believe that team was sent out to simply “not get beat” which I think deplorable.
City were there for the taking if we had only “attacked” instead of showing them unnecessary respect.
Jonas was terrible and should have been taken off after twenty minutes.
If we had attacked the ball instead of standing back and letting them come at us we could have got a win.
It was the last home game of the season and I think we deserved a better performance than that.

ronjohno – I don’t think you realize we did try our best. Sadly our best wasn’t good enough today against the probable Champions. We were probably knackered anyway as Indian Magpie has mentioned. Pardew’s tactics you say? He just played the same team in the same manner as our last game that we beat Chelsea 2-0. He brought in Fergurson to spice things up, brought off HBA who wasn’t at his sharpest today and brought on Shola to try and spice it up-and tbf he nearly scored if it hadn’t been clocked for a corner.
I even voted Gutierrez our man of the match just before Santon in my opinion as he was our best outlet from midfield today and Man City couldn’t handle him. Our defense also played well and Ba had a better game even though he hardly had a sniff.

Negative fans like you do my head in. HAVE YOU SEEN THE TABLE!??

i thought we played very well tonight, although looked a bit tired against a city team that seemed to want it more. on another note, being english i can’t believe some peoples command of the english language, on this blog people still write ‘loose’ should that not be ‘lose’ when we don’t win ? ‘loose’ means, not tight fitting

we didn’t go out to not get beat, where would the sense be in that considering we have nothing to lose.
We went to keep it tight and how one of golden boys up top could nick a goal, we are playing the richest team in the world, jesus some expect way too much.

I think to say we went to not lose is ridiculous. Once we’d conceded the goal which was great goal btw, and was hard to defend much better against, we were camped in their half. The amount of blocks they threw in was immense, shola had a chance blocked that would’ve definately gone in. On top of that Hart had a great game, so anything that did get past them didn’t go in. It was really a game of few chances and once their one went in we had to press and unfortunately they got a good breakaway with some bad luck from cabaye. That said i agree a few players weren’t quite on cue, Ben Arfa didn’t look his usual self but still….we’ll bounce back against everton and then we’ll see where we are!
