Newcastle Unchanged For Huge Manchester City Game

As expected,  Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has named an unchanged side from the team that beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in mid-week, for this afternoon’s huge game against Manchester City.

We expect Alan Pardew to play both Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse up front, in something like a 4-4-2 formation, as last Wednesday they were a handful for the Chelsea defense.

Let’s hope our lads can bring home the bacon today with a fantastic 3 points.

The subs bench is also unchanged from Wednesday night, and Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux, who have just returned form injury, are both subs this afternoon.

Manchester City are also unchanged from the side that beat Manchester United 1-0 last time out. and former Newcastle winger James Milner is on the bench.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul; James Perch, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon: Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Jonas Gutierrez; Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, Ryan Taylor, Dan Gosling, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Shola Ameobi

Manchester City: Joe Hart; Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany (c), Joleon Lescott, Gael Clichy; Gareth Barry, Yaya Toure; Samir Nasri, Carlos Tevez, David Silva; Sergio Aguero
Substitutes: Costel Pantilimon, Micah Richards, Aleksandar Kolarov, Nigel De Jong, James Milner, Adam Johnson, Edin Dzeko

Hope we can boss the centre of the park with the 3 in there.

Ed, do you prepare a page for each scenario or something? Very quick off the mark..

if the formation is 4-2-3-1 does it sound like a defence tactic or aggressive one

Would be fantastic if we can beat City but if we dont I hope that wont detract from a fantastic season we have had,
If at the beginning of the season some said ` Will you accept Europa Cup football?` I think the majority of fans would have snapped that hand off. However the squad have put in such a fantastic finish to the season I just wish them all well and hope Lady Luck smiles down on us if and when we need her.

I’ve done another tactical preview of the game here: http://one-touch-passing.blogspot.co.uk/ if anyone is interested. Hope to follow it up with analysis, later today/tomorrow. The 4-4-2 we play with our players is so fluid it can change to 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 whenever Pardew clicks his fingers. Good chance today, 2-1 Newcastle!

hh… you see my comments there? hh…

Well, yeah. I wouldn’t mind if that will be the headline, but Newcastle don’t get the respect they deserve this season, but our media is too small to understand the change, and they are still writing only about Liverpool, Man U, City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

By the way, have you seen the article in Calcalist about Newcastle?

And it is ok here. Why, where are you from?

i feel really nervous with this game knowing that we can go above arsenal if we win. my biggest worry will be how upset/annoyed i will be if we loose because so many things are against the chance of us loosing
    1. last home game of the season
2.should be full of confidience after chelsea result
3.i think we have only lost twice at home all season

the best thing i can see in favour of accepting a defeat is city have such a good forwardline so it will be tough concidering we having to use willo (don’t mean this negatively)
even if i do sound annoyed with defeat, the bigger picture is that i’ll be glad with this team in the season as a whole and will just think of the bad results as ways pardew can learn what is still missing from creating a champions league team

Damn Ed you’re quick! lol What a blogger, what a machine!

This could go either way today. I am a bit worried about the quality Man City have in their team hopefully will match or better them on today’s performance.

CL is a huge carrot for the players, it will be interesting to see how determined they are to get us there today. I think they will play out of their skins and shock Man City.

Either way Pardew and the lads deserve a standing ovation after the match.

This is a powerful man city side. We need to keep things tight at the back. Tiote and Cabaye will need to play the game of their lives Lets hope HBA rises to the occassion this afternoon. HTL

we need to attack from the start, very high tempo get at em try and get early goal, if man city go behind they have to attack, if they attack they will leave spaces in behind for Cisse Hatem to attack and we could tear em apart, but if we go behind i think Man city would more than likely shut up shop and play the counter.

4-4-2 mean Pard now really trust the defensive work rate of Beny.

Im very happy about how newcastle are progressing as a club i like the players that we brought in everyone has played there part except obertan who i feel will never be a newcastle player and should be sold off in the summer.

After the norwich game i told people that perch wasnt premiership material i just saw him as a very average fill in and need to get rid however since that game he has literally become one of my new heros for newcastle he has been utter class and im so glad he stays in the team today and in my view is much better than simpson at right back and the right back spot in future should go to perchino

also cisse what can you say about this guy its like he aint even human nearly every goal has been just world class when he scored that 2nd goal against swansea i just laughed i just couldnt belive how ridicilous the goal was he seems to score in every angle even the 1st goal against liverpool

i dont know if we can win this game today but hope we can i got cisse to score 1st goal at 7-1 i think those are very generous odds indeed

just 1 downpoint i like to mention

dl came out today and said we need to sel l the stadium rights so we can pay for another yohan cabaye

i might been abit selfish but i just dont understand why mike ashley bought this football club if all he wants to do is generate money from the club and not put a penny in himself as transfers

i think its a great business idea but since he is a billionaire then i dont get why he cant give us lets say a 20 million spending cash spree every summer out of his own pocket at the end of day he bought the club so you would think he would iwant to spend some money in it.

he even wants his loan money back whenever the time is right i guess

but example at chelsea and man city or even liverpool if they wanted there money back from all the transfers they payed for the club then all those 3 clubs would be bankrupt

we are a sensible business club but it would be nice if ashley could put extra funds into the club as well as been good bringing players for good value

he obviously is an extremly tight man with money guess thats why he is so rich

Gorgonzola – they will be up for it mate so I hope no suicide tactics and high line like at wigan. We need to make their midfield quiet and cut their supply line. It won’t take Tevez long to get a card when its not going his way.

But look at Arsenal talk about tight…most of their players where budget young players with a budget like that makes Mike look like Abramovich
