Sochaux are currently bottom of the French league and it could well be that they will be relegated.
Marvin Martin – Sochaux central midfielder
And one of their top players is 23 year-old midfielder Marvin Martin, who has played 9 times for France with two goals, and previously had 10 appearances in the France U21 team.
And he seemed to be the player to replace Cabaye in the French side, when the Newcastle midfielder was withdrawn in the second half of the French games over the last year, and he is an attacking central midfielder like Yohan.
If Sochaux do get relegated then it could be that Martin will be available in a cut-price deal, and of course Newcastle are always on the look-out for a good deal, and he would fit right in on Tyneside, with the rest of the French contingent currently at the club.
Marvin has been at Sochaux all his career and started at their Youth Academy, and he made his first team debut in August of 2008, when he was 20, and appeared as a substitute in the 2–1 league defeat to Marseilles.
Since then he has appeared 143 times for Sochaux, with 11 goals and 30 assists and he made his senior international debut in June of 2010 in the team’s friendly match against the Ukraine, when he appeared as a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw.
The Paris-born player stands 5’7″ tall and is right footed, and a very skillful player. Sochaux are bottom of the French league with 33 points from 35 games, and are 2 points from safety and they have 3 games to play – although that’s really 3 points from safety because of their poor goal difference of -24.
At the time of writing this article, Sochaux are drawing 0-0 at half time, in their home game with AS Nancy Lorraine, in what is a full fixture list tonight in the French league.
But play-maker Marvin Martin is banned from playing, after collecting three yellow cards in fewer than 10 games.
That will not help Sochaux tonight.
What do you think?
Here’s some video of the play-maker

Comment #47Luuk would cost £12-13 mill. If u were Pardew or MA, would u consider that value for money, considering we got Cisse for £8 mill?

Comment #4812 mill is out of our price range I reckon specially when the lad is very much in the public eye wouldnt mind him though but we have more than just striker position to fill. Think we will get a young striker in rather than a established one….hopefully English for me
Wouldnt mind Blackburns LB Olsson is it?

Comment #49there has been alot of hype about this player and as we all know we dont often sign players who have alot of teams wanting them as it ups the price. that said we dont often go in to the last game of the season with a chance of getting 3rd!

Comment #55I can’t see the owners turning it around tbh, they promised top 4 and big signings. I feel sorry for Kean because of the situation he was put in. They should never have sacked allardyce, he may play Sh**e football but he would keep them up comfortably.

Comment #58Ironic that the teams already relegated had failed assistants take them down . Connor and Kean
Kinda shows how imprtant having good ownership is , those two teams really messed up in terms of finding the right person to steer them away from trouble
Reminds me of our sorry situation when we went down .. Glad Ashley and co. have steadied the ship since though

Comment #59Yeah I dont see the Venky’s fixing the club, I dont think they have any interest in fixing it but I have very little knowledge on whats going on in that club so I dont have much to back that up.
Kean is a poor manager but he, like the Wolves manager, didnt really want the job but they both gave there best
Just a sad thing to see a former champion team relegated

Comment #61One from bolton and QPR to go Down, QPR will lose man city next week. Bolton have to win at stoke, hard place to go but not as hard as pervious seasons. I think Bolton will go down. It’s a shame because Bolton and Blackburn have been in the pl for a few years. Just goes to show how far we’ve come in three years.

Comment #63Wwjbd – strong on the ball , good in the tackle , plays the simple passes very well .
Under Pardew and next to tiote he could be really good . We could retain the ball with tiote and Diame and release cabaye Ben Arfa etc to do damage :p

Same, don’t see all the hype with him, he barely starts for Wigan and they are 16th. Speaking of Wigan how is it that they always start to win games at the end of the season and scrape through every season. Once Martinez leaves I think their time will be up.

Comment #65What we need in our 3 man midfield is a yaya toure type of player. Now we’ll probably not get anyone who is remotely as good as yaya toure. But we have Tiote who breaks up play and starts moves, cabaye who sprays his passes around the park and then we need someone who will run straight through opponents, someone like Moussa sissoko (a few posted about that we should sign him before ) .

Hmmm maybe but he barely ever starts for Wigan and they arent near us in the league. Everytime I have seen him he has looked ok but nothing more imo…maybe I am just missing something with the lad
super magpie
Yeah thats what I dont get as well he gets a lot of blog time (I dont know what else to call it) saying we should get him but he cant get a start for a relegation threatened club. Its jsut not a good sign to me
Anyway different topic standard vulture time
Jarvis, Hennessey and Fletcher from Wolves
Holiett(maybe), Olsson (lb) and Formica from Blackburn
Holden and Lee from Bolton
Any advances on these ‘targets’ 😉

Comment #67Think Martinez will be offered the West Brom job, then will have a long hard think about whether he wants to lose some of his better players with Wigan again, have to rebuild and have another wearisome season. or finally move on.
I think he’ll finally realise he has to move on, departing for the Brummies. Had a fiver on it at 33/1. 😛

Comment #68Diame is a good player, but players like him and unfortunately even Hoilett wouldnt guarantee that next season we will in the same position we are in right now (challenging for champions league)
i think we would need to target much better players that will literally upgrade our already good squad .
Hoilett and Diame are good but not better than any other players we already have

As an attacking LM Hoilett is better than all our players , Ben Arfa plays on the right so doesn’t count …

Comment #70Has anybody else seen this? I know former Toon ace Emre got into trouble for his racist remarks recently – unforgivable behaviour and went down in my estimation – but this is brutal revenge by Zokora.

Is this how you kick racism out of football?

Comment #71OH PLEASE GOD!!! Marvin Martin is THE player I want this summer and I’ve been pestering everyone raving about him. He would fit in perfectly with Ben Arfa, Marveaux and Cabaye.
Please buy Martin and his mate Ryad Boudebouz also and we have an amazing attacking flair all round with cover in case of injuries or drop of form. It would scare the hell out of any team playing against us.
PLEASE SIGN HIM UP NOW!!
