Alan Pardew is keen to keep his players concentrating on how they can get 3 points at Everton on Sunday – and that will not be easy – getting the 3 points that is.
Alan Pardew – after game on Sunday afternoon
But 3 points could mean that Newcastle get into a top four place by Sunday night, depending on how Tottenham fare at home to Fulham and how Arsenal do at West Brom, in what will be Roy Hodgson’s last game in charge, before he takes over the England manager position.
The likelihood at the moment is Newcastle will finish in 5th place, although Chelsea can still catch us if they get 4 points out of their last two games.
Their make-up game is at Liverpool tonight, and a Liverpool win tonight – for a change – will guarantee Newcastle at least 5th place in the league, seven places better than last season.
Alan will not review anything about this season, until after Sunday, and he had this to say to the local press today:
““We’ll review the season when it’s over and it isn’t over yet.” “But of course I’m proud of them. “It has been a significant season for us.” “We’ve had players who have earned new Premier League reputations.”
“Next year they will have to prove it wasn’t a one-year wonder.” “But I don’t think I’m going to have a problem with that.” “I know they are good players.” “It will be my job to make sure we are as motivated as we are.”
“But I’m very, very happy with my players.” “They have done everything they can.” “We just have to win and do everything we can to get it.”
Newcastle will begin their transfer business next week, and the first thing is to decide who they don’t want of the current squad.
And it seems almost certain that fringe players Alan Smith, Peter Lovenkrands, Fraser Forster, Tamas Kadar, Xisco, Leon Best and Nile ranger will all be leaving the club in the summer.
And there are still question marks over Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson, but we hope both will sign new deals and stay on Tyneside, and they may not be starters next season, but we also need a strong squad.
The clear-out will then open it up for up to five top players to come into the club, and we can also expect some top youngsters, at least five, to be drafted in for the Development squad.
But Newcastle will try to get some of the bigger wage earners off their books first – Smith is on £60K/week and Xisco is on £50K/week – so there will be some room to bring top players in over the summer months.
Sounds good – in fact it sounds great to us.
Comments welcome.

Wherever u are atm mate, do keep us updated on any potential news u come across from inside the club. No reveal of source necessary, most of us know it 😉
If i got it right, Lowensky has the size and imposing threat that equals that of Samba. If he has the skills to go with that remains to be seen.
Would love it if we got Hoilety, just love it. Far better than Moses, as Moses has poor end product.

Comment #6As i mentioned on a previous post we need RB/LB, CB, LWM and Striker with pace.
Maicon, Baines, Vidic, Messi and Neymar should do it.

Comment #8WWJBD….I know, it’s too much for the stomach to handle. Got to be done though, Chelsea lose and EL automatic qualification secured with a game to go…worth the pain of wanting a liverpool win – sort of 😮

Its better to just check the result when its done and say nothing if it goes in our favour. Just keep it quiet. A silent gasp if the bindippers win is enough.

Comment #12I personally think we have seen Danny Simpson play in NUFC colours for the last time , dont expect him to be back next season unless he dramatically re-signs on Ashley and Llambias’ terms

Comment #13Lewytoon….Kinda see what you’re saying, but don’t agree. Get as high as we can, it’s more money, more exposure and means finishing about Spurs or Arsenal (as well as Chelsea and Liverpool). I’d take that any day

I think this guy would be amazing for us on the left wing, he is a much better player than Hoilett and lets not forget a full dutch international .. I was really hopeful we were going to sign him in Jan since we were being linked left right and center with him, didnt turn out to be true though

Pacey and tricky with a mild attitude from what I have read on them and I dont think either offer consistant end product yet

its that time of the season again
Transfer rumour mill going bananas! Most of the rumours going round the blogs and media seem great – Would love to see any of the following:
Marvin Martin
Luuk de Jong
Douglas
Jan Vertonghen
Not so sure about Pieters – anyone seen him play? Is he worthy?
And who are the other wing back/fullbacks we’re targeting?
And why isn’t anyone even mentioing Alan Dzagoev?????? Out of contract at CSKA in December… honestly he is brilliant, easily on par with HBA, different style, but deffo born with a round ball at his feet
How great it would be to win at everton and end in 3rd… dreams 🙂

he’s great – no game time at Juve… he only signed for them in summer last year tho. They want to recoup cost for him so we’d have to outlay at least prolly 8mil… with a few decent wingers out of contract or on the cheap, he might not be a realistic target

Drenthe showed up to a Everton training session drunk and that was the end of his career there last I heard. Sounds a massive bellend and when we played Wigan at home he spent the entire game diving then moaning to the ref
Wouldnt touch him with a barge pole
