Close Run Thing Between Ben Arfa And Papiss Cisse Goals

We held a poll to see what Newcastle fans thought was the better goal between Ben Arfa’s Blackburn thriller, and the magnificent goal scored by Papiss Cisse at Chelsea last week – the second one that is. 😀

Papiss Cisse and Ben Arfa

At the time of writing there was 21 votes in it, with over 1100 votes caset – and Papiss Cisse narrowly  in the lead.

Here are the results of the poll so far, and it’s  still open if you haven’t yet voted.

about Gourcuff tho, he’s known in france for being really detrimental to team spirit! He was credited with causing problems at Milan, and was a large part of the problem in Frances 2010 world cup squad! Remember seeing a thing with the national team saying he wasn’t on speaking terms with any of the other players and refused to partake in team building morale boosting activities, sat on his own with books in the canteen etc…

    From last post

    My summer predictions.

Man U will not over spend, in recent years they have made 1 or 2 big signings. They will continue this. Ferguson has belief in the young players he ahd who will likely be much better next season.

Man City I’m not sure on. Think it will be similar to Utd. One or 2 big players but nothing compared to past. They have to start balancing books and they cant really improve that squad much more.

Arsenal will open the checkbook and spend about £50-£60m. But I dont know who will leave other than Chamakh and Arshavin. and Mertesacker.

Chelsea will spend massive amounts in order to get to the top. Abramovich has no value for money, with his wealth he doens tneed to. and will not be happy having gone from double, to second to this year.

Liverpool will spend around £40m-£50m. The owners have spent too much to let the club slip into mediocrity. But will they be good buys?

Spurs will make one or 2 again. I think they had their big spend a few years back and now will only buy 1 or 2 for around £40m to improve.

Newcastle, you cant predict. Will we manage another goo window?

Guthrie will leave as he will not be happy with being dropped after some good performances. Simmo is rumoured to leave (sod him, his heart isnt in it, he’s only ever wanted to be a Man U player and will never).

Best will probably want to move, and Toon will allow as he is half decent but is not near a starting place atm.

As for the big guns, not sure who would leave. Cabaye I think is committed to the cause here. HBA is our star and indebted to us for our handling of him. Krul appears a geordie through and through (academy product).

Tiote seems determined to stay, but who knows when the big offers come in. You cant begrudge a player going to Man U for big money and to play for Man U. Even though I hate them, You just cant.

Cisse will stay, he only arrived 6 months ago, reports are we have helped him settle greatly.

Ba? who knows, no clarity on the clause and whether it exists. He has always wanted to play for PSG. Can’t see who he would go to in this league that has a need for him like we do. Maybe Liverpool will offer him huge wages and that may be enough but given their season I think we are safe from Liverpool this year.

OUt of all of them, the only one I can see leaving for money is Tiote. And not because he is greedy at all. Because I know he supports a large family back home. But he already turned down Chelsea.

These french, or french colony players are a different breed. They carry pride unlike many english players. They do it for the love and art not money.

As for young Nile. Well, I spoke with a Wednesday fan other night and they said he had recently come decent their after a tough start. They were surprised by his attitude when I told him of his past.

I reckon we loan him out to Championship for a whole season. Maybe Wed again? You do a lot of growing up in his years and then reassess him.

Joey may still be a gobssssshhhhh. But he did reform as a character on Tyneside. His only problem was his short temper. Nile doenst have this. he jsut has a lack of motivation. But maybe some time at a club performing will improve that. We tried Loven as a mentor. Why not someone like Perchino who can be an inspiration in terms of breaking through into the team.

That’s probably only because he knew they had no chance without HBA in the squad 😀

    Also Re: Nile

Joey was let go because he was impacting on the dressing room. Nile’s problems were different. He may have brought bad press to the club through his off field antics. But inside the club it appeared the issue was not acting out. But showing a lack of intent (not participating and working hard enough). It could be different if he returned to the current state of things where the dressing room appears to be very harmonious.

The again, you have to wonder if the guy can assimilate into our dressing room because he seems worlds away. Look at all the english players we kept apart from maybe Best (not knocking him). But they are all very well mannered and laid back. Far fromt he tough guy attitude Ranger appears to have.

    Wow went o long there.

On Cisse. We paid £9m. We wont sell for anything less than £40 for sure. Plus I really think Ashley and Pards will have a huge intent to keep him. He will finally be our replacement to Shearer. Truly a player that can take us forward

Would love Martin, but where exactly would he play? he’s similar to Cabaye only quicker and more of a goal scorer so unless were planning on dropping Cabaye back into the role alongside Tiote so Martin can push on then a dont know… All i know is we wont spend £8million on a player to be cover

    ——————Krul
    Santon-Douglas-Colo-Pieters/Beilesen
    ——Cabaye–Tiote–Martin
    Ben Arfa———————Marveaux/Hoillet
    ——————Cisse/Ba

someone on the last article said that real has the next global superstar in morata, yet im sure we were linked with him a month or two ago.

id love if we signed martin marvin, hes a class playmaker and alongside cabaye and the other french lads would settle in well. hes meant to be a bit like xavi so would fit into our team perfecty with 3 in the middle. however we should also get affalimiato of whatever according to reports. im sure ive also read many articles on we’ve signed douglas hence why he hasnt been linked with any other clubs. id love to sign hoillett or drenthe, would be perfect to play as another attacking forward. i dont know why but i would be really suprised if ba was here next season, i think he’ll leave. Another signing id like to see would be Pieters as lb, so we can put santon rb.

i think arsenal will be class next season, already making moves and showing theyre intent with huge signing for big money aswell.

tottenham will be linked with everyone and waste moneym i can see them dropping away next season.

man utd will just sign a player or two

man city will do the same

    liverpool, god knows, haha

chelsea will spend big and fill theyre squad according to reports to get 2nd or first.

    i hope we sign:
    DOUGLAS
    PIETERS
    HOILLETT/ DRENTHE
    AFFALIMATO
    MARVIN
THE YOUNG SWEEDISH STRIKER FROM CITY

My INS with our strict and good financial department:

    Luuk De Jong – £10million
    Marvin Martin – £6million
    Eric Pieters – £5million
    Douglas – £3million
    Junior Hoillet – Nominal Fee
    Morgan Amalfitano – Nominal Fee
    Jacob Butterfield – Nominal Fee
Few more youngsters for the reserves

    OUT:
    Peter Lovenkrands – Released saving 20k p/w
    Alan Smith – Released saving 50k p/w
    Danny Guthrie – Released saving 25k p/w
    Danny Simpson – £2million plus saving 15k p/w
    Nile Ranger – £1million saving 10k p/w
    Leon Best – £2million saving 15k p/w
Steve Harper – Hired as coach saves 25k p/w

Spending of £19million on 7 players who would make a massive difference next season to our squad and help us challenge like this season again

£19million on 7 players is an average of £2.71million per player, bargain because they all young and will only increase in value

Would love marvin martin, but its really likely he’ll end up at PSG! he’s parisian and a lifelong fan, said a while ago it was his dream to play for them! Reckon we’ll go back in for Maiga at a cut price, 3m or so, he can play that left side of the front 3 and should be available for very little now! Boudebouz looks to be moving also! From montpellier, Belhanda would be immense, very passionate, bit like benny in that respect, personally think hes twice the player of Giroud! 1 player no1’s mention from france is Freddy Bulot! Keep an eye on this lad, 21, gonna be immense, hes at caen atm but tipped for much bigger things! Also thorgan hazard at RC Lens, 18, meants to be by all accounts more potential than his older brother at that age, would be worth investment if thats the case! R.C Lens have an amazing youth set up also and have 5 or 6 future stars coming through their ranks!

We wont sign Maiga we pulled out of that to sign Cisse.. plus if we did that means everyone of our strikers will be going away to the ACON which would leave us with Ben Arfa leading the line with Shola and that wont happen mayaswel hand in our notice to the league

Why on earth do we want to sign Pieters. He has the kind of injury that can impact his career long term. He’s had his foot in plaster twice in the last 6 months, and has already informed the Dutch that he won’t be fit for the Euros – leave well alone!

Just think lads things could have been oh so different now if we had of signed Bryan Ruiz on that deadline day. I think if we had there would have been no signing of Cisse this January. Not when he would have already spent 10mill on Ruiz. I’m so glad he went to Fulham instead. We would probably still be battling for a top half finish still if things had gone the other way

I’m hopeing that most of these players we are linked with are nothing but smoke and mirrors to keep other clubs eyes off our real targets. don’t get me wrong we are being linked with some great players- but most of them are gonna want big wages to go with there big reputations, and as we know that’s not how we do things. plus we seem to be bringing in players of similar quality to the big wage players these days and for a lot less. Im gonna be honest I knew nothing about cisse when we signed him other than he’s senagalese and a striker ( and rumours that the mackems where weighing up a bid for him not knowing we had allready signed him lol) but he’s in my opinion the best signing in recent history and we didn’t know he was even on the nufc radar untill he was in a nufc shirt. I’m really glad we kept that bit of business quiet otherwise we would of had some competition trying to sign him, especially from liverfool who seem to love going for almost every player we are linked with, to such a point that its almost like they don’t have a scout but instead just watch the players we are watching.
I’ve just had a brain wave, we should. make it look like we are going in for some medeocre players that are overpriced ( liverfool and other big clubs seem to think expensive means great player which clearly isn’t always the case. carrol/suares) and then whilst the big clubs are busy out bidding each other we can concentrate on our real targets and do it on the sly and on the cheap. I know this sounds silly but I’m just makeing the point that everyone knows how good our scouting system is and I’m worried that every player we go in for the big clubs will go in for too just to stop us progressing further next season.

I still cant see why people put formations and player up on here. It’s fantasy stuff. I’d take Messi in a swap deal for Leon Best, Bring in Maicon with the profits from the Simpson/Real Madrid sale and Vidic on a free.

I’m not going to speculate on who we are going to bring in, mainly because after the Summer and winter windows we’ve just passed i have 100% faith in our scouting system.

We do need a Right back, Central Defender, Left Winger and a Striker with genuine pace in order to push in the Europa League. The right squad investment could see us do pretty well in Europe and keep us in the top 6 in the League too.
