Great News – Pardew Is Premier League Manager Of The Season

6:29 pm, Friday, May 11th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 332 Comments

Really great news today that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has been named Barclays Manager of the Season.

Alan Pardew - magnificent first season on Tyenside

It’s the very first time that a Newcastle manager has ever received the award, and it’s a wonderful achievement by the Newcastle manager, who has guided the Magpies to 5th place in the league and only 2 points out of 3rd place.

Nobody would have thought that Newcastle would be anywhere near the top five this season, and some were even thinking we may be fighting relegation, after we had lost Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, Jose Enrique and Joey Barton last year, four of Newcastle’s best players.

Alan Pardew has worked hard to bring in some top players for Newcastle, since he arrived in December of 2010, and they include Ben Arfa, Demba Ba, Davide Santon, Yohan Cabaye and Papiss Cisse, all of whom are first team starters for the Magpies and have been terrific buys.

And Pardew, who is a workaholic in his planning and leaves nothing to chance, seems to have brought the very best out of his players, and the way he has coached Ben Arfa back from a terrible injury to to his mercurial best,  has been brilliant man-management by the Wimbledon-born coach.

Alan has also brought 21 year-old Davide Santon along excellently in his first season in England, and the Italian International is now a regular starter and showing what a great player he can become on Tyneside.

And Pardew has even brought out the very best in Brazilian Perchinho, better known as James Perch who in fact - believe it or not – was born in Mansfield.

It’s a tremendous achievement and honor for Alan Pardew to win this award, and it also reflects so well on Newcastle United, and the way the club has surged back to a top club in England this season.

And it will no doubt help Newcastle in their transfer business this summer, as good players will want to come to Newcastle even more now.

This is even more upbeat and positive news for Newcastle, and we’re not sure just how much more we can take. :D

    Well done Alan Pardew and his Black and White Army.
    Glad u proved all the doubters SO, SO wrong at the beginning.
    And glad u managed to shut up those who wanted you out.

  • 12 09nufc09 // May 11, 2012 at 6:53 PM

    Fully deserved! Got the best out of the players, changed formation atleast 3 times during the season, man-management of players has been spot on, subs have been at the right time, and his transfers have been the best i can ever remember!

  • 17 Tsunki // May 11, 2012 at 6:56 PM

    While we are back on footy related I just want to add that one thing that qualifies him for Manager of the Season is the fact we didn’t want him to be the manager in the first place. Kudos for being able to convert the Geordie faithful. We are a picky lot, harder to turn around than a fat lass at a free buffet.

  • 18 LewSpi // May 11, 2012 at 6:57 PM

    Fantastic news, although we all knew/expected it was going to happen, he’s had a tremendous season, all the hard work and attention to detail really showing through.

    On a different subject, I’ve always heard that Tiote sends a lot of his pay packet back to his family in Africa, and I never doubted it. But today I was in lloyds tsb in Jesmond and saw Cheick. He discreetly said to the Clerk, “I want to withdraw 89,000 from this account to take to my country” to which she said “in cash?” and he said “yes, I want it all in cash”.

    Nice bloke.

    Indian – a warm welcome to the blog my boy. Hope you like Shola. Not Sholay, that was a great movie. Shola, the super sub striker is what I’m talking about. :-)

    I noticed that too, Indian.

  • 44 Indian Magpie // May 11, 2012 at 7:13 PM

    bye bye guthrie

  • 45 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 7:13 PM

    Fair play on the answers from AP on Simmo and Guthrie.
    Guthrie gone for sure, and Simmo may go to.

  • 46 indian // May 11, 2012 at 7:14 PM

    Shola is a super sub. I was reading bout yakubu today,u think we need a striker like that? Big like shola but can score goals consistently? Blackburn are relegated so could be a good punt?

  • 47 Garreth // May 11, 2012 at 7:15 PM

    Guthrie is definitely gone, and I can understand from his point of view why he is leaving.

    If Simpson leaves then it’s down to his own greed.

  • 48 nufc786 // May 11, 2012 at 7:16 PM

    cud be but weve got two world class strikers at the minute and shola is ssbut if ba goes to psg why not why not?

  • 50 Pardew's fist pump // May 11, 2012 at 7:16 PM

    Exactly what I suspected on both Simpson and Guthrie. One wants first-team footy, the other is money motivated.

  • 54 wynsleap // May 11, 2012 at 7:21 PM

    Sincere congratulations to Alan Pardew on a magnificent personal achievement not only for himself but for the whole of Newcastle United too.
    He has been tremendous this season and has presided over a team that has silenced the critics and won national.acclaim
    I have to admit that like many others I was not convinced at his appointment but boy have I been proved wrong (along with thousands of others I suspect).
    You’ve put this club on the map again Alan – same again next year please.
    Finally, Mike – you have the Manager of the Year working for you – give him the backing and we can go to even higher levels.

  • 55 Pardew's fist pump // May 11, 2012 at 7:21 PM

    Huh? That’s exactly what I said.

  • 56 Thump // May 11, 2012 at 7:21 PM

    Bringing somebody in for set plays? I’m starting to get excited.

    lol was Pards about to say “Steven Taylor hasn’t scored”?

  • 57 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 7:23 PM

    So we’ll be getting in a player who’s a force on set plays. On the head especially.
    Douglas?

    Brilliant interview so far. Loving what I’m hearing, strengthening defence and looking at someone who can work on set plays.

    I think he’s being a little harsh on Stephen Taylor, though!

  • 66 Wor Shearer // May 11, 2012 at 7:28 PM

    some ask him abt PRE SEASON

  • 71 Nick 69 // May 11, 2012 at 7:30 PM

    think we’re deffo looking at Douglas, Vertonghen and Alderweireld after him saying he wants a CB who is a big goal threat, all 3 more than capable of 8 goals per season. And Vertonghen and Alderweireld a threat from long range with there shooting and passing ability

  • 72 davybtoon // May 11, 2012 at 7:30 PM

    lewspi him or christophe lowinski who weve had from mariselle

  • 73 Thump // May 11, 2012 at 7:31 PM

    Haven’t we got 2 or 3 young lads in on trial atm?

  • 74 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 7:32 PM

    @davy
    Sounds to me the oposite, lol, sounds like the young CB is nearly there and the first team CB is still a target.

  • 75 Wor Shearer // May 11, 2012 at 7:33 PM

    Stop talking about the FA Vase man!

  • 76 Nick 69 // May 11, 2012 at 7:33 PM

    LewSpi – its ot the young Aussie, he wans unsuccessful and went home. We have Lowinski or someone on trial at min whos a defender so must be him

  • 77 Tsunki // May 11, 2012 at 7:34 PM

    we need more good headers in the box, we miss saylor on that score – if he’d been in the team all season him, colo and willo would have headed goals in for sure. of course it wasn’t until HBA was regular with the crosses they would have got anything to head.

    Guthrie doesn’t have any more potential unfortunately. I’m sure he’s bound to score for villa against us one day but I am willing to wager he isn’t going to be a regular for any other prem team. He will crack at some point.

    Simmo’s negotiations failed some time ago I think – it’s the Ashley hallmark – take my second offer because it’s my last. I think he has been switching off for some time, and only the shop window kept his legs going. Funny, but when he started not bothering to run forward any more he actually looked a far better LB. Weird.

    Well well, signing/goal of the season now manager of the season.

    Am I right in thinking if Ashley wants to sell we will plan a protest/boycott for him to stay?

    On a serious note, looking at the s**t Rangers are in, it’s quite a relief that we’ve not only survived relegation and major debt, but have great foundations to push on as a top 5/6 club.

    great interview from pardew key points

    were trying to debuchy cabayes pal
    we will sell but only for big cash but fear not they will b replaced with equal quality

  • 166 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:04 PM

    Great, great, interview by Pardew.
    We have to be realistic about players moving on, but in Carr and Pardew we trust.
    They know what we need and want. There will come a time where we don’t have to sell.
    But hey, we’ll only sell if it’s City, Madrid or Barca :P

    Looking forward to having Debuchy and Douglas in our defense next season :P

    Douglas and Debucy in.
    A young CB in.
    A little more movment in the attack in general (new winger/striker)
    No players is gonna be sold for less than £7 mill. (unlikely, but)
    Ba is being negotiated on a new contract, up in the air still.

    Terrific interview by them both, so happy they’re with us.

  • 180 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:09 PM

    @davy
    Aye, hehe, surely just emphesizing that there’s going to be a huge amount of money needing to be spent if anyone is going out of our club.
    That’s the benefit of tying players down longterm.
    It’s a risk, but if they suceed and someone comes knocking, they’re gonna have to pay top dollar.

  • 181 Spuggy // May 11, 2012 at 8:10 PM

    My point was that Europa isn’t really a big draw, it’s CL.

  • 182 davybtoon // May 11, 2012 at 8:10 PM

    anyone else notice when he was on about set play it sounded to me like he wanted a free kick specialist as well a big cb to attack them rasmus elm?

  • 183 davybtoon // May 11, 2012 at 8:12 PM

    spuggy but thats nothing new thats always been the case, but europa is still a big draw pardew jus said himself there being offered players they would never hav been offered without europe

  • 184 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:13 PM

    @davy
    Aye, noticed that. Unsure if he actually meant someone who could take advantage of the kicks, or if he ment the free kick taker. Surely Cabaye, Raylor and HBA are specialists enough?
    Also tought i heard he wanted someone in the midfield able to go forward a bit more, or more mobility i think was the word…

  • 185 davybtoon // May 11, 2012 at 8:15 PM

    Ok ok jees. I was just saying :-p

  • 187 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:16 PM

    @spuggy
    When a club comes up from Championship, finishes 12th first season and at minimum 5th the next, reaches EL and is so close to CL, it clearly indicates a club in process.
    Also, when we have a manager who’s the MOTS for the first time EVER for Newcastle, even more are going to take notice.

    Europe alone is a huge draw, not even mentioning the progress in general.

  • 188 Spuggy // May 11, 2012 at 8:16 PM

    Reading between the lines….

    Debuchy
    Douglas
    Sigurdsson

  • 189 Wor Shearer // May 11, 2012 at 8:16 PM

    I think he was more talking about someone who can use his head with his height, but he didn’t rule out bringing in a free kick specialist.

  • 190 Wor Shearer // May 11, 2012 at 8:18 PM

    I see us getting 4-6 1st team signings and maybe 5-7 youth players.

    @davy
    It could be Lowensky. But it’s hard to tell. 3 players today alone on trial, Good as been there. There’s the swiss lad. Two of todays was french, so there’s atleast one unknown.

    Tough call imo, we’ll find out tho :P

  • 194 munch27 // May 11, 2012 at 8:25 PM

    Pards mentioned they had 3 french trialists today , i’m so excited.

  • 195 Pardew's fist pump // May 11, 2012 at 8:25 PM

    I’m mildly and pleasantly surprised we are seriously interested in Debuchy, given he’ll turn 27 during the summer., although I do think that is near our upper limit of self-imposed age restriction, for new signings.

    Hopefully we act with haste, because he’s going to be the French RB for the Euro’s and his value will rocket and attract others if he performs, I’m sure – but we have an ace in the pack – Cabaye! :)

  • 196 LewSpi // May 11, 2012 at 8:25 PM

  • 201 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:33 PM

    @Lewspi
    Aye, he is a CB.

    @davy
    It’s not unlikely, at the same time, he’s a big lad, so could be good with the headers.

  • 202 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:35 PM

    Aye, the swiss lad has gone it seems on twitter.

  • 208 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:43 PM

    @shire
    There’s quite a few trialists coming in and out of the club atm. Most likely that many of them ar CBs.
    Pardew had an hour on BBC Newcastle Radio just now, and he said the following, to answer different questions:

    We need someone able to head the ball on set pieces, we’re poor on that. He mentioned that he pressure Willo on the subject.
    We’re looking to get CB in, coupled with being a good header, Douglas is a good target for us.
    He also said we wanted a young CB, so it’s likely to be one of the trialists.
    He also said we’re wanting to take in a friend of Cabaye, most likely Debuchy…or Hazard :P With the latter being less likely.
    We need a bit more forward going movement, so must likely an ACM, but starting from a CM position.

    We had 3 trialists in today, two were french.

  • 209 LewSpi // May 11, 2012 at 8:44 PM

  • 218 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 8:54 PM

    @shire
    Ofc mate, but a move for Hazard means a bid likely to be around the £20 mill range. And THAT is unlikely.
    Llambias has himself been quoted on saying that those days are gone. It’s too much of a risk.
    Unless there can be a deal involved with another player exchanging and the money price not being more than £6-7 mill, i can’t see it happen.
    Besides, i belive Carr can find his own Hazards for under £6 mill.

  • 226 Toon1978 // May 11, 2012 at 9:06 PM

    I listened to Pardew and the Carver interview on BBC Radio. I have to say it was the most upbeat interview i have heard from an NUFC point of view. Youngsters coming in, Wanting one of Cabaye’s friend probably Debuchy but i am thinking Hazard but that chance is slim to nil. Also, he said if Man Utd come in for Cabaye there is very little we can do especially if big money is offered. I think he reason behind bringing in a pal of Cabaye is to offer him more incentive to stay at NUFC. Top and bottom of it is that if anyone want’s any of our players then they will have to spend big bucks BUT we do have replacements lined up which are as good as if not better. Tiote may be one of them players and i read somewhere that Mutudi might be his replacement if that is the case. Great talk by Pard and Carver, we have an exciting summer ahead with incomings and nail biters with out goings. The future is black n white!!!!!!!

  • 234 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 9:19 PM

    I think it’s the fact that Willo is now in front of him. Playing over half a season there, Saylor is not going to be able to just come back and take over.
    It might’ve been that.
    Despite most here thinking that Saylor is the better CB, it has to be fair.

    Just a thought but if Pards stays here for his full contract and carries on building the team we could be in for a long stretch of European action.
    We need continuity and there are some good examples of that with Wenger and SAF being top 4 sides for as long as they’ve been managers at Gooners and Manure.

    Yeah he mentioned that Willo would be first choice ahead of him, and criticised him for not scoring (mistake? lol). He wasn’t harsh as such, he just seemed to not be overly nice towards him. I reckon it’s cause I like the guy so much I was a bit protective, haha.

    It was an utterly brilliant interview, the guys really handled themselves well. They were incredibly open and honest as well which is very refreshing to see, and I hope Pardews reign long continues. It’s great to have some stability back at the club, and a team who enjoys playing and all the press is for our action on the field!

  • 239 Shiremagpies // May 11, 2012 at 9:25 PM

    @dannyo, it was along those lines yea mate lol – although it lasted about 2 minutes longer than that with all the other non repeated words thrown in there aswell,

  • 240 WWJBD // May 11, 2012 at 9:25 PM

    Oh Alan Pardew two years ago ur career was on a highway to nothing with a name that meant less than crap then u joined a club in turmoil with a owner hated and a squad who had been torn apart and hurt

    Now manager of the season with a club who could be on the edge of something exciting and unexpected…well done sir well done

  • 241 davybtoon // May 11, 2012 at 9:27 PM

    would love if pardew could have a decade in charge its what we need at this club someone to run it for a very long time

    Williamson has never scored a goal for us.. Taylor come in at the end of last season and scored like 4 in 4… He’s 10x the player Williamson will ever be

  • 247 Shiremagpies // May 11, 2012 at 9:33 PM

    @dannyo – theres still time yet, im still very dissapointed that she would even have the cheek to suggest it, ive only been talking about it since 3:15 last sunday afternoon, so it isnt like she didnt know

    So I’m not the only one who rates Saylor much higher than Williamson !
    Actually think Saylors injury cost us 6pts while Williamson settled in.

  • 249 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 9:37 PM

    @GT89
    Yeah, but Saylor coming right into the side in place of Willo doesn’t exactly encourage good performances from Willo in the future…

  • 250 MagpiesFlyHigh // May 11, 2012 at 9:38 PM

  • 251 davybtoon // May 11, 2012 at 9:39 PM

    dosent really matter whos better between staylor n willo bcoz pards basically said it will b colo n new cb his no1 pair

  • 252 Wor Shearer // May 11, 2012 at 9:40 PM

    It’s the old Ledley King problem. Saylor maybe the best CB in the squad but he can’t put a run a games together to save his life.

  • 253 GeordieToon89 // May 11, 2012 at 9:43 PM

    Yeah but King plays everytime he’s fit…

    Also davybtoon he didnt by the sounds of people on here he said if they dont start scoring more then it’ll be the new CB.. And when the season starts again it should automatically be our strongest team not someone who’s cover which is all Williamson is good for

  • 254 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 9:44 PM

    @davy
    Surely he must feel the same way about Simmo who can’t even put a cross in to save his life :P
    AP is adressing all the right issues imo.

  • 255 ochytoon // May 11, 2012 at 9:44 PM

    Woe Shearer
    Its a shame, if he wasn’t so injury prone he’d be playing for England.

  • 256 GeordieToon89 // May 11, 2012 at 9:45 PM

    The friend of Cabaye could be literally anyone aswell, granted Debuchy stands out because of what was said before when Cabs recommended him but still it could be anyone

  • 257 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 9:45 PM

    @MagpiesFlyHigh
    Lol, atleast u won’t look stupid if Cisse or Ba leaves…
    In the meantime tho, lol.

  • 258 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 9:47 PM

    @GT89
    Aye, it could, but since Cabs has already said he’s recommended nufc to Debuchy, it’s easy to make that assumption.
    But ofc, Hazard has been here to watch a game, so he knows the atmosphere of the club…

  • 259 MagpiesFlyHigh // May 11, 2012 at 9:51 PM

    Personally I’d rather have a defence that concedes 15 less goals than we have this year than have two CBs who score 10 between them.
    Not got a problem with Kompany winning the player award, though I reckon Yaya was close too.

  • 266 Toon1978 // May 11, 2012 at 9:58 PM

    Santon approaches Carver every morning in training and says “AREET SON” Hahahahahahahahaha, go on SANTON lad. We have a great player on our hands with him.

  • 267 Tsunki // May 11, 2012 at 9:59 PM

    hmmm not sure saylors guilty of being ‘injury prone’ in that I don’t think he gets the same injury recurring. It may be more due to the fact he puts his body in harms way more than even most CB’s do. Shame if he gets fit and isn’t trusted enough to hold first place. For a certainty we would have had a great GD if he had stayed injury free this year.

  • 268 MagpiesFlyHigh // May 11, 2012 at 10:00 PM

    GT
    Aye Thorgan’s more our style – still developing but huge promise

  • 269 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 10:04 PM

    @davy
    That would be a terrific defense. Seeing as we tend to build our attacks from the defense, and a good defense is able to let flair players do their thing, football should be even better next year if we get these players in.

  • 270 Tsunki // May 11, 2012 at 10:05 PM

    MFH – caught your commute post the other day – that’s a daily boat ride I wouldn’t mind during the summer. bet you had some class times in winter though ;)

    bbbrrrrrrr.

    I would put the ‘big’ spends out of your mind if you listened to Pards, they don’t mind selling big, but they aren’t hoying cash around for Big ‘eds, and that’s how it should be if you want a team and not a collection of selfish money-grabbing journeymen.

  • 271 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 10:06 PM

    @MagpiesFlyHigh

  • 272 Tsunki // May 11, 2012 at 10:07 PM

    Although a defence with a HAZARD clearly marked would be a deterrent to safety-conscious strikers everywhere. It has a ring to it.

  • 273 Garreth // May 11, 2012 at 10:07 PM

    It’s great to see a different manager win MOTS and also a defender take POTS. Both fully deserved in my opinion, and have both been outstanding. Not that I care too much about Kompany!

    It would be great to have a player as solid as Kompany join us in the back with Colo, our central defence would then be outstanding.

    There was one caller who suggested that Santon should play in midfield, but I completely disagree. He’s a great defender and our system gives him license to roam forward when necessary, but when he gets back he does his defensive duties well.

    I was hoping to hear a little more in the interview about maybe one more striker, just a young guy to fill in when Ba and Cisse leave again. It’s actually quite interesting to see that this year we’ve scored 1 less than last year (I know we still have one game to go, but it’s going to be around the same as last year once it’s over). I can’t wait for next season with Ba (hopefully) and Cisse firing on all cylinders, with a young striker playing with Ben Arfa and Ameobi while theyr’e at the ACON.

    These are very exciting times for Newcastle!

  • 274 Dannyo // May 11, 2012 at 10:15 PM

    @Garreth
    With Best and Loven leaving, i think it’s more than likely that an additional striker being brought in. Ranger leaving too.
    Infact, i’m pretty adamant that a striker WILL join.
    Oh God, please let it be Luuk…

  • 277 Garreth // May 11, 2012 at 10:19 PM

    @Dannyo I hope you’re right!

    @Beattie He said that they’ve offered him a contract that they think is very fair and now it’s up to him and his agent to accept. It sounds like the club isn’t willing to negotiate anymore and it’s a do or die contract. He also said he may still be at the club next season and just leave once his contract is up, although I feel Ashley will want to sell him to make a few mill instead of releasing him on a free.

  • 302 GeordieToon89 // May 11, 2012 at 10:41 PM

    Av always thought we would press ahead with Pieters over a new RB cos we dont have a natural left back or a spare left back even but by the way things are looking to me Jonas will be the replacement LB if Santon cant play for whatever reason..

    GK – Krul, Elliott
    RB – Debuchy, R.Taylor, Santon
    LB – Santon, Jonas, R.Taylor
    CB – Coloccini, Taylor, Douglas, Williamson
    W – Benny, Marv, Fergie, Sammy,
    CM – Tiote, Cabaye, Martin, R.Taylor
    CM – Butterfield, Amalfitano, Gosling
    ST – Cisse, Ba, De Jong, ????

    = 23 players

  • 303 Beattie25 // May 11, 2012 at 10:41 PM

    Everyone is talking about Douglas like he is an amazing CB but to be fair I don’t think he is out special and it would be a massive risk waiting until August to sign a free transfer.

    Don’t get me wrong of we sign him ill be excited but I have not seen enough of him to think he is the best CB we could sign and for me he is only an option cos he is free.

    He has scored 9 goals in over a hundred games and doesn’t seem to me from what I’ve seen to be the big behemoth some of use seem to make him out to be.

    A long shot would be Verthogen as he is a goal scoring threat and Alderwierled is similar to Vermalen at Arsenal with a wicked long rage shot on him.

    I think those 2 are more likely options to be honest.

    If we sell Simmo and Best and release Smith, Guthrie, Harper and Lover that is about £6-8 million in transfer fees and £170k of surplus wages before we even begin to strengthen!

    Thoughts people on the following

    Debuchey or Peiters?

    Verthogen or Alderweirled or Douglas?

    Martin or Sigurdsson or Elm?

    Hoilett or Elia or Adam Johnson?

    Rodriguez or Rhodes?

    I’d go for Debuchey, Alderweirled, Elm, Hoilett and Rodriguez

  • 318 GeordieToon89 // May 11, 2012 at 10:55 PM

    FC Twente have an option to extend the deal for a further year which he will have to agree to and even more so he will defo agree to it as he wants to become a Dutch citizen and then play for Holland and the only way he can do that is if he’s contracted to a club in holland.. his current deal runs out in June/July.. so because he will be getting an extra year then we will have to pay a fee which is thought to be in the region of £5million..

  • 319 GeordieToon89 // May 11, 2012 at 10:56 PM

    Fraser Forster will not stay and sit on the bench as cover.. a say let the lad go he deserves to play

    Debuchy
    Verthogen
    Martin
    Hoilett
    Rhodes

    Alderweield
    Martin
    Adam Johnson
    Rhodes

    Rodriquez is too similar to what we already have.. except he doesnt have any pace.. we need a quicker pacey striker Rhodes would be the best out of those two

  • 323 GeordieToon89 // May 11, 2012 at 10:59 PM

    ochytoon – If he wants to play for Holland then he has to be contracted to a club to get over the 5 year line.. and also if he’s leaving for free then we dont need to wait until late august to sign him because he wont be contracted to anyone

  • 324 ToonDownSouth // May 11, 2012 at 10:59 PM

    Beattie

    Debuchy AND Pieters. If Simpson leaves, we have one senior, natural full back in the squad.

    We won’t get Verthogen, as he said personally that he’s in negtotiations with Tottenham, who are his prefered club.

    Martin looks exciting, and Elm has a good reputation, but Sigurdsson has shown he can do it in the PL, in a pretty poor team. We do need a goal scoring CM though.

    Hoilett. Elia doesn’t play because he doesn’t work hard enough, so I can’t imagine he’ll enjoy it here. City wouldn’t sell Johnson, I would think.

    I haven’t seen Rodriguez or Rhodes, but we do need a young striker to replace Best, Lover & hopefully Ranger.
