Loved this year it has been the best i have experienced as a Toon fan, i am getting old by the way.

Even during the keegan years i whinged more, Warren barton annoyed the life out of me.

Disappointing end but onwards and upwards and this could be a good thing as today pointed out for all to see that we are I’m dire need of a proper ball winning centre half!

I was sat in with the everton fans, felt sick having to stand up when they scored

Bit strange Pardew taking santon off today for Raylor, is it wrong for me to still question the Manager of the year. I dont feel as though it is.

Check, didn’t see it myself I asked someone and they told me he smacked cabaye and te guy the other side of me said that he grabbed him round the throat, however cabaye never went down so I’d say he just grabbed him.. It was all about the ball boy though why he did it to get one back..

Yeh the everton fans were going livid about it, fate enough really imagine If it were an everton player at are patch..

I’ve got to say though.. Marveaux, wow I don’t know how he kicked the ball to get it to fly in the air to te strikers like he did but he looks a better play maker than anyone we’ve got right now

Fantastic season but very bizarre with Ba 1st half and Cisse 2nd. Hope we can get the balance right next season.

a thought i have with next season, when i look back to the christmas period this year it makes me feel that next season i would like pardew to make atleast 5 changes to his team that is used in the europa league games unless we play a teamsuch as inter and make the premier league position the think he uses his strongest starting 11 for

A bit of a reality check these last 4 games, losing 3 of them whilst conceding 9 goals and Cisse the only scorer, at Chelsea. The same old story at the back, with the 2 centre backs vulnerable to the ball over the top, and extremely vulnerable to the ball in the air across the box. Pardew knows these weaknesses, and hopefully will come up with at least 2 strong, physical, pacey defenders in the summer. We will have the usual rumours and counter rumours now until the new season, but the whispers I am hearing are that the only player Pardew expects to lose from his ‘blue chip’ brigade is Tiote. I presume with the sales of Simpson, Best, and Forster, this will provide the transfer budget, plus the £8m that was already there from not buying a defender in January. I suppose this has to be balanced by the fact that the Cisse money was taken from the summer budget. Anyway, a great season, and Pardew is already saying tonight that there are obvious weaknesses which he hopes to address in the coming transfer window. HTL!

That’s good to hear. Tiote is a truly fantastic player, WHEN he’s on form. He’s a decent bloke and I would not begrudge him a move to a club challenging for trophies.

However, if any of our players move to Liverpool or Tottenham, then they’ll feel the anger of St James’ Park.

jimmy you say there is fear of tiote being most likely to leave? i would be suprised if he was the main player to dominate being sold because as i said quite a lot recently tiote already got bids rejected which were 30mil from chelsea last year also he will yet again be away for the ACON plus he is a big risk of getting suspended concidering the amount of fouls he does.

if i were to do a list with players “quality player” who might leave this year this would be my order mos5t likely to least likely and the team most likely to want him.

Where on earth has this rumour that we rejected £30m for Tiote come from? I’m sure that has no foundation to it.

Also, PSG are going all out to sign Pato, Chelsea have got two young wide players signed already for next year in Marin and De Bruyne, and Krul is on a 5 year contract.

I cant see any of those happening to be honest.

I am sorry i am still mad,

1st goal a deflection should never come of a defender’s back.

2nd goal, you watch williamson jogging back, if had ran he could have stopped jelavic’s second attempt.

3rd goal – what do i say, all in front of you

TDS i am 99% sure that chelsea did offer 30 million last summer for tiote which we turned down i may be wrong but one thing was certain and that was he was in the papers a lot last year with links to chelsea also in january he was dominating the paper again although those were total rubbish.

anyway there is only one thing i feel could make it difficult for newcastle to hold on to these players and that is the wages we provide.

Thats a shame I very rarely go on the blog on anything other than my iPhone and I much prefer the old layout. The comments are the wrong way around on here, with the newest being at the top. I’ve tried everything to get it back, deleted cookies and stuff. Never mind.

    Cheers anyway.

Tiote has been rumoured to be leaving since January 2011, Cabaye turned down CL football to come here, Krul has signed a new contract at the club who give him a chance in the first team and Ben Arfa seems to have found solace here.

Maybe Dembas head has been turned but who can blame him? His knee may very well be the issue that stops him being a very rich man and if he has the opportunity to take a better wage then I’m sure he will.

I think Ba may leave and whilst I’ll be gutted I won’t begrudge him anything. He was a sensation that flashed in the pan and became overshadowed by Cisse. I’d love to have the 2 but it is obvious to me that with out quality creativity in midfield they are both useless together.

For me the formation doesn’t suit the team and every time we have played 4-4-2 we have looked susceptible to being dominated and we more than often have.

If we are going to play 4-4-2 we need to drop either Tiote or Cabaye because they cannot boss the midfield together and they look lost and are easily overrun. Both can play exceptionally in a 3 but are useless in a 2. Also with 4-4-2 we need decent full backs. Guti is not a LB/RB and Perch/Raylor are not good enough there. Finally we need to quick wingers who have great delivery. I think we have them in Benny and Marveaux but without support coming from CM and FB they may aswell sit on the bench.

So we certainly need to strengthen the team in order to play 4-4-2 even though I prefer the 4-3-3.

Aw, season is over. I’d just like to congratulate and thank Ed for the continued coverage on Newcastle this entire season; I know it’s been tough for him, but even when he was recovering or even pre during and post op he has continually supplied us with our fix of Newcastle news. Thankyou very much, and lets see if we can get CL football next year!!

In one way today was the right result for pardew to explain to Ashely that infact the team needs an injection of new life.
1)another winger who can actually beat someone that has pace,
2)1/2 good CBs williamson not up to standard but saylor will be back again
3)a quality CM like Martin that can allow us to control games- somethin we don’t do great.
4)RB OR LB as santon is only decent fullback
I’m afraid these will cost too much tho and Ashely will fund it with a clearout and 1/2 big sales.

Here is (for what it’s worth) is my non professional critique of the players this year:

    GK:

Krul – Amazing at times, consistent throughout and only bettered by Joe Hart for me as best GK in the PL. Needs to improve his output when kicking.

    Elliot – Who?

Harper – Great servant and hope he becomes a coach for nufc!

    DEF:

Simmo – Solid yet unspectacular. Unfairly criticised and often defended too valiently. He is not good enough for starting 11 in the first team next year.

Perch – Cult hero and always gives 100% but doesn’t have the quality to wee threaten the first team so he will provide good cover but nothing more.

Colo – At times he seems like a world class defender but when the team is under pressure he is often caught out. He is pivotal to us. When he has a bad game, everyone in the defence does.

Willo – Sorry but the less said te better.

Saylor – He was the epitome of the spirit we shows in the opening 11 games and he was so good I sit here wondering what if?!

Santon – The boy is going to be class an has shown enough this season for me to think he is going to be a superstar!

Raylor – Solid, dependable and gives 100%. Great in the first 11 and will give us good cover next year.

    MID:

Tiote – Solid at times but has been caught short in many games this season. Is it only me that thinks he was much better last season? Anyway still a world class star that we need to retain. Will we? Who knows!

Cabaye – Great signing and a true treasure. But in the 4-4-2 often gets lost and we saw his superb ability mainly in the 4-3-3.

    Abied – Gonna be good.

    Vuckic – See Abied

Guti – Lost pace and has bulked up. Cannot play LW anymore and seems to be getting groomed for DM. Squad player next year and on the decline for me.

Obertan – Unfairly made a scapegoat and was decent for me. He will come good though given room to grow and taking pressure of him.

Benny – Tremendous and ridiculous at times. Such a Jekyll and Hyde but when he gets te creativity around him next season he will shine.

Marv – Must say I’m excited by this lad after seeing him only briefly this season.

Guthrie – Shame for the lad as he was one of our better performers for some time and then declined after being dropped. I would’ve loved to have seen him more often in a 3 with Tiote and Cabs but it’s not to be.

Gosling – I remain unconvinced but I hope he shows class next year.

Fergie: Going to be decent and showed glimpses but needs a loan for me.

    Sammy – See Fergie

    ATT:

Cisse: Revelation and a truly amazing player but starved of creativity he looks ordinary.

Ba: Immense then the worst player in the 11 for the past 10 games. I still back him to come good IF he remains.

Best: Not a great player but is good enough but I’d rather have a younger player taking his place.

Shola – Great player for the last 10 minutes!

Lover – See you later and thanks for the effort.
