Newcastle’s Summer Tour Plans To Be Announced Shortly

Now that the season is over, Newcastle will be getting down to the business of reshaping their squad for next season.

Derek Llambias – should be announcing summer tour plane shortly

As well as getting their transfer plans together and ready for execution, Newcastle will presumably shortly announce their summer tour plans.

Alan Pardew had said there were plans to visit the US again and play against the MLS All Stars at the end of July, but those plans had been cancelled because Newcastle were not sure what their European commitments would be.

Depending on which position Newcastle finished in the league table, would decide if they would have to be involved in play-off games in August, for either the Europa League, or the much more profitable Champions League.

Newcastle finished 5th and therefore get straight into the group stages of the Europa League, so it seems any plans already made would not have been impacted by that, since we have no play-off games.

But whatever the Newcastle plans are, they should be announced very shortly, and we would expect even this week sometime.

Another thing to be arranged are the various pre-season friendlies, and we expect those plans also to be announced within the next few weeks.

And then of course there are the transfer plans, where Newcastle will bring in at least three new players and replace others – like Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson – if they elect to leave Newcastle.

And we should also be seeing a number of top youngsters coming into the club as part of the Development squad, as up to twelve  of our youngsters are leaving when their contracts expire on June 30th.

The summer break promises to be a busy one for those at Newcastle United, that’s for sure.

Has this been a Jekyll and Hyde season or what, admittedly not only for us. Look at Tottenham, Man. U., Chelsea, Liverpool, Wigan etc. Barton just epitomises this.
Now, in order for us to stay where we are, or even improve, we’ll need to get some consistency going, because it can be argued that we’ve been outplayed many a game by teams that finished well below us. The table doesn’t lie and all that, but still: we need more depth in order to rotate much more, when games pile up, things aren’t going as planned, players lose form (e.g. Ba), players run one too many marathons (e.g. Jonas), opponents have figure us out etc. For example, yesterday, Cisse could not pass (did you see his through ball for a great… Everton attack?) or shoot, he could’ve been substituted by, say, Best. We just need a lot more depth… Of course, yesterday, no one played (bar Krul) so it would’ve been hard to rotate!

You’re right regarding the winger, I forgot about Sammy, I expect him to play a big role next season, not so much in the league, but in the cups and Europe maybe. Its his year.

I don’t know why people would like Pieters though, seems a good enough player but everytime e gets mentioned he’s injured. Can’t be risking another defender who’s always out, we have Stevie Taylor for that.

They get Europa as they won the FA Cup, not sure which stage they go in at though, think it might be play offs.

As was Tiote last summer and January by all accounts but he is still here nothing is set in stone. And they might be injury prone but thats our buying strategy I dont see MA blowing more money when he doesnt need to

Aye I agree all the young uns should be seeing more playing time.

On Pieters all his injuries seem to be broken bones from what I have seen maybe he has just been very unlucky this season though I share ur worry about signing him

FA Cup winners (Chelsea) go straight into Europa League group stages, Spurs will take their place if Chelsea win the Champions League. 5th place (NUFC) go into the final playoff round, to be played 23 and 30 August. League Cup Winners Liverpool go into the qualifying round.

If Fulham can get to the final, we can go on to win it, surely 🙂 Assuming we keep our core together, and build on this wonderful season. HTL!

Cliffy is right, we do NOT go into the group stages. Regardless of what happens now we have 1 play-off match to get into the group stages. Not that this matters as if we can’t win that, we wouldn’t stand a chance in the actual tournament.

I genuinely believe we can give this tournament a good go, and really get somewhere in it (semis at least)!

definitely lewytoon, go for rossi, especially if Ba leaves, but even if he doesn’t he’s been out of sorts, could be something to do with his knee, nevertheless, personally I don’t rate him as highly as other potential strikers or Cisse (possibly because I didn’t have cable tv until the 2nd half of the season (chuckle) ) Nonetheless we are a top 5 side now, we shouldn’t be scared to go after some top players, if we can finish above teams like chelsea and liverpool with their 50 million pound players, any one in the world should be grateful to get an offer from NUFC.
