    Repost as Ed’s on fire:

Does anyone remember Shearer’s challenge on Lennon that Barton was on about? Is he right? Apparently in ten worst fouls list of ESPN.

Player of season? First part, Ba, second Cisse

  • 2 cyprus // May 14, 2012 at 10:53 AM

When is a thug a hero (e.g. Rooney, Keane, Vinny Jones) and when just a thug?

  • 3 jayphoto // May 14, 2012 at 10:56 AM

@Cyprus – when they lead under pressure? Keane and Jones were thugs, but when the pressure was on they led by example, but themselves on the line for theyre team etc, barton on the other hand, when the pressure is on cracks! He bottled our relegation run in by getting sent off at liverpool needlessly and he nearly cost QPR survival yesterday! The difference is, under pressure to win, you’d want a keane, or a jones, or even a rooney now hes matured, but if we went into a game absolutely needing to win, i wouldnt have barton anywhere near the starting 11!

  • 4 Beattie25 // May 14, 2012 at 10:56 AM

    Colo for me.

Whe he played poorly i.e. Spurs (A) Wigan (A) Fulham (A) Everton (A) we have been awful.

  • 5 jayphoto // May 14, 2012 at 10:58 AM

player of the season – for me it’s Tim Krul, closely followed by Collo! Theyre the only 2 players that went throughout the whole season without a dip in form!
Young Player of the season – Santon
Most improved player – James Perch
    Most exciting – Ben Arfa
Goal of the season – ……. can’t actually bring myself to choose!

  • 6 Edd Case // May 14, 2012 at 10:59 AM

I believe we’ll see 6 come in and 3 leave.

I haven’t got a clue who will come in but I reckon we’ll see Simmo, Best and Ba leave…

Only reason I think Willo will stay is that I don’t think he’s the sort to bang on Pards door when he’s not playing much – and he wont be because we will DEFINITELY sign a new CB and we will need 4.

I could even see Jonas leaving if we get an offer around 5million and to be honest, I’m ok with that.

    I can see us going to a 451 / 433 next season.
    Tiote – Cabaye – ?
    HBA/Ober – Cisse – Marv/?

I just really hope we bring in a right back, left back, centre back, 2 x centre mids and a new winger/attacker

  • 7 eaststandgeordie1982 // May 14, 2012 at 10:59 AM

Krul for me hes won us games and kept us in games colo a very very close second

  • 8 WWJBD // May 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM

Ba first half, Cisse second but overall has to be between Cabaye, Krul and Colo for me vote went to Cabs though as it was his first season

  • 9 jayphoto // May 14, 2012 at 11:01 AM

literally can’t wait for next season! New signings to shore up the back! A fit steven taylor! a more experienced santon and krul! Ben arfa and Marveaux getting a full pre season and a FULL season from cisse! I dare not imagine where we would have finished if taylor hadnt hv been injured, if cisse had signed in august and if benny had been upto speed before january!

  • 10 Graeme // May 14, 2012 at 11:05 AM

    WOW, Ed, so many choices!!

Most improved player has to be Perchino

Most consistent player – Colo, without a doubt

Player making the greatest impact has to be HBA – his comeback from injury, his learning what Pardeau wants from him. His work rate, coupled with his amazing skills has been awesome.

Player who has grasped his chance with both hands – Tim Krull – one of the best young keepers in the League

Player who has proved to be everything we thought he could be, and then some – Cabaye.

Team player, who made it all happen – Alan Pardeau

  • 11 jayphoto // May 14, 2012 at 11:08 AM

would anyone take Hugo Rodallega on a free transfer in the summer>? his contracts up, only 26 still, would be an improvement as a squad player to best, ranger, lovenkrands!

  • 12 check the toastie // May 14, 2012 at 11:10 AM

Have voted for Ben Arfa, i have witnessed the 2 greatest goals ever scored by a toon player this year, both by the same player, although i think the lad should offer for the ball more and get more involved in the game he is undoubtably our greatest talent.

Of all the players at the club currently i wud be most disappointed if this lad left. Love his skills.

I actually believe his impact on our points tally is as great as any others, and he only played half a season, respect to all the lads who have been rocks though, Krul, Collo, Cabaye, have been the spine most the year to be fair. little mention to Guthrie as well who has put in some super performances.

  • 13 check the toastie // May 14, 2012 at 11:11 AM

sorry missed Gutti off the rock list.

  • 14 ROSHAN MAGPIE // May 14, 2012 at 11:12 AM

krul player of the season consistent player whole season never had a bad game even Colo had bad games

  • 15 Tiote // May 14, 2012 at 11:15 AM

Has 2 go 2 th big lad between the sticks. Saved us many a points this season. Think he’s got the potential 2 be a beta keeper then given was 4 us. Love wor timmy

  • 16 TorqToon // May 14, 2012 at 11:15 AM

Went for Cabs ! Was a really tough one as Colo has been outstanding at the back and made the PFA team of the year…our Senegalese soldiers up top have really done to business for us this year, Tiote was been outstanding and really made a difference, santoooon is a geordie legend in the making. But on pure effort, passion, commitment to the cause and the odd great goal…it’s dreamboat for me.

  • 17 Toon_Tom // May 14, 2012 at 11:16 AM

    Krul or Colo

  • 18 dannyboy // May 14, 2012 at 11:16 AM

Has to be colo 4 me , the guys a absoulute life saver, wed be f**ked without him, essential! weve been able to get away with loseing other top players but when the few games we dont have him we look so nervy, hes a touch of class at the back, great on the ground ,reads the game so well, makes rooney look sh**e, now we just need a world class or near world class big CB whos class in the air to compliment him a relieve some of the pressure of him, if we get that and a LB and move santon to thje right wel be sorted and loveing life!

  • 19 naptoon // May 14, 2012 at 11:16 AM

krul for me. agree with posters for santon as young player and perchino most improved.

  • 20 Indian Magpie // May 14, 2012 at 11:21 AM

Who is going to vote for shola, so why put his name there

  • 21 pieceofpapiss // May 14, 2012 at 11:22 AM

It’s hard to say who my player of the season was. Every single one of those lads gave 110% and im delighted where we’ve ended up. This year has been full of “what if’s”. What if…. Cisse had signed earlier, ben arfa had played the full season, tiote/ba etc had missed the ACoN, Saylor had been fit.

This is where we need to prepare for these “what if..” moments. I.E. Making sure we have the depth to cope for missing/out of form players.

Next season will be epic if we can keep the current crop of players and build on the squad we have. I’d like to see Simpson and Guthrie stay, but they are easily replacable with simillar or better quility players. They may have forgotten that. Enrique certainly did!!

  • 22 jayphoto // May 14, 2012 at 11:23 AM

give over indian man! Shola played his part this season! Important goals against spurs and sunderland! Also, in march n april, he was massive coming off the bench, holding onto the ball and seeing games out! Every player played theyre part this season, shola included!

  • 23 Indian Magpie // May 14, 2012 at 11:24 AM

No!, Realistically, very few players are Player of the season contenders i Think

  • 24 pieceofpapiss // May 14, 2012 at 11:25 AM

    @ indian

Shola’s last minuite equaliser against 5under1an deserves a mention.

  • 25 pieceofpapiss // May 14, 2012 at 11:27 AM

    Is Indian Magpie for real??

It’s been a monumental effort by everyone!! Teams dont get into the top 5, let alone the prem, based on the performances of 3-4 players!!

    Have a word!!

  • 26 jayphoto // May 14, 2012 at 11:27 AM

@indian – yeah i agree there! Krul and collo for me where a mile ahead of any other players! Special mention for cabaye for a great first season though, I think with a break and a seasons experience, he’ll be our top performer next year in the engine room!

  • 27 Indian Magpie // May 14, 2012 at 11:28 AM

WTF, are you telling me that he is player of the season

  • 28 jayphoto // May 14, 2012 at 11:28 AM

@25 amazing effort by everyone! but krul and collo all season have been world class! theyd look at home week in week out in any team in the world this season!

  • 29 Szarka // May 14, 2012 at 11:28 AM

Shola got 3% with 0 votes :) bug

Krul for me, Cissé second than Demba Ba, Ben Arfa, than Colo. Top 5, as the team is top 5 too ;)

  • 30 pieceofpapiss // May 14, 2012 at 11:30 AM

@Indian, Not saying he’s player of the season, but he deserves a hell of a lot more credit than you’re giving him.

  • 31 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 11:30 AM

Has the season finished already? :)

Had to go Krul, although Collo was an obvious close second. All players have overall had great seasons and Collo has only had a couple of shockers. For me, Krul rarely put a foot wrong (or hand) all season and for a young guy has taken the league by storm.

Indian…Sure Shola isn’t going to be voted best player of the season, be a bit rude to not have him on the list though, no?

And who voted S Taylor? Love him, but come on, he didn’t make half the season :)

  • 32 Indian Magpie // May 14, 2012 at 11:30 AM

    @jayphoto,

I doubt cabaye will get a decent break though

  • 33 lewytoon // May 14, 2012 at 11:33 AM

    i voted for krul

krul, colo, cabaye, cisse, ben arfa

    top 5

  • 34 Indian Magpie // May 14, 2012 at 11:33 AM

    Piece of Papiss,

dont want to be disrespectful, all i am saying is all 11 or 13 cannot be nominated for the team of season.

same goes for, Taylors, Perch, obertanned, i cd have mentioned them but i went with what is in vogue

A guy from the RSPCA knocked on my door this morning.

He said, “We’ve had a complaint that you’ve been overfeeding your cat. Apparently it weighs the best part of 4 stone.”

    I said, “It’s not a cat.”

“Oh” he replied, “There must be a mistake, is it a dog?”

    I said, “No, it’s a hamster.”

  • 38 check the toastie // May 14, 2012 at 11:36 AM

Best Dive – Tiote vs Mackems (see you later Sess)

  • 39 lewytoon // May 14, 2012 at 11:40 AM

best dribble – ben arfa :P

    i dunno anymore

  • 40 pieceofpapiss // May 14, 2012 at 11:48 AM

Every one of those lads who have put on the Shirt deserves the upmost credit and, for you to single out Shola, for critisim shows a little bit of disrespect for this club.

I’m aware that Shola, Best, Williamson etc have had bad games, but they have all had their moments which have won us points.

All pieces of the big picture, all done a job, all deserve 100% credit.

  • 41 Indian Magpie // May 14, 2012 at 11:50 AM

This has nothing 2 do with shola, or any other squad players. All i am saying is dont but all the eggs in the basket

  • 42 lewytoon // May 14, 2012 at 11:50 AM

    best sub – shola haha

  • 43 ToonAndy // May 14, 2012 at 11:52 AM

Man City winning the title ey?

    Well paid city, well paid…

  • 44 Munster Mag // May 14, 2012 at 11:52 AM

I’m surprised that people are so keen to let Ba go? Not so long ago, he was the signing of the season? Also, Pardew thought Cisse and him could work well together so he may have got that wrong. Lets not all get too carried away re Cisse. One injury and we’ll have no strikers besides Shola, if we get rid of Ba, which would be crazy IMO.

Also, can someone advise why the 4-4-2 isnt working? It makes sense, assuming Ben Arfa tracks back. It will also allow Marveaux to play left, and Guti can ocover left wing, midfield or even left back when we are stuck?

My player of the season is Collo.

  • 45 pieceofpapiss // May 14, 2012 at 11:54 AM

    @Indian

Remember its a TEAM game. Eggs are supposed to put in one basket.

  • 46 Indian Magpie // May 14, 2012 at 11:55 AM

    Okay Sorry

  • 47 wynsleap // May 14, 2012 at 11:58 AM

lewytoon @ 36 – I’d go for those except I would put Colo as best player. So consistent in his quality this season and has held the team together on occasions despite playing with different partners at times. Has also been a good captain showing leadership abilities and often driving the team forward when they have tended to go to sleep in a match.
An acceptable ambassadorial playing figurehead for the club who has deserved to lead his team into Europe.

  • 48 joe // May 14, 2012 at 12:00 PM

Gotta admire City not because they won the title, or the fact that they are the new galacticos in the BPL. I admire them because even when all the chips are down, they still find a little bit extra to score 2 goals in extra time. That’s guts and passion for you right there.

  • 49 pieceofpapiss // May 14, 2012 at 12:03 PM

    @ Munster

Im suprised about Ba too. He hasnt been scoring recently but he has grafted his ar5e off since January. He’s created a fair few chances for others too and has been a handful for most defences. He’s also been unlucky, hitting the bar against Chelski is one example.

He wont go, unless PSG come in for him, home town club and all that.

  • 50 JAMSHA // May 14, 2012 at 12:12 PM

    voted for jonas

  • 51 wor geordie // May 14, 2012 at 12:18 PM

    best player : krul….
second best : rest of the team…..
only bad incident : relying on the last match for CL.i feel some matches especially some home matches should have been won and also our away game against Fulham.we must concentrate next season.there are no second chances.we have proved to ourselves about that may times before….

  • 52 Nick 69 // May 14, 2012 at 12:25 PM

Has to be Krul for me. Didnt have one single bad game to my memory, Colo close behind but he did have a couple of sloppy games when our defence fell to pieces in big defeats. But all in all everybody had a great season. Perch came on leaps and bounds second half of the season. Wiliamson probably the only one who hasnt impressed me at all and cost us a LOT of goals single handedly.

  • 53 Garreth // May 14, 2012 at 12:43 PM

Krul got my vote, very very few mistakes all season and has made some huge saves. Plus, it’s his first full season and he’s proven why he’s our number 1 keeper.

  • 54 catchy in norway // May 14, 2012 at 12:47 PM

    its a hard one this,
i went for colo, but it was a flick of a coin really krul was the other,

i have to admit even though jonas has been my fave player over the last few seasons, i have been dissapointed by him for most of this season, the reason why is his attacking play, its really poor now, and getting worse, it seems like everyone is happy cos he defends , well sorry his main job should be to create goals, something i think he now struggles with, i could see no point in playing him in midfield when this is clearly not his best position, i think there is 2 kids that would have done a much better job , ferguson and abeid, one left winger who can cross, and one def mid ,

perch does ok at def mid, but he is lost at right back,

  • 55 LooneyToon41 // May 14, 2012 at 12:50 PM

@44 Munster Mag. Regarding 4-4-2. Great question, but no easy answer imo. Pards said he ‘gambled’ playing 4-4-2 against ManU and it paid off, 3-0. He also gambled playing 4-4-2 against Spurs at WHL…. disaster 0-5. Then against all my better judgement, we played 4-4-2 v Chelski at SB, and what a fantastic 2-0 win. Go figure. Tactically, Pards got it right most times, but i’ve learned this year that every formation needs flexibility.
Player of year : Colo. Also big shouts of improvement to Ryan Taylor and Perchino!

  • 56 Tiote // May 14, 2012 at 12:53 PM

Am i the only 1 tht can’t get used 2 this new site?

  • 57 Rotonda heights // May 14, 2012 at 1:02 PM

I don’t think we should let BA go because genuine goalscorers are rare as hen’s teeth. However, it is clear he and Cisse can’t play togehtr and with a lot more games next season, they should be rotated to play the elad striker role.

It was proved on balance that cabaye and benny were way way happier in a 433 , otherwise the game passes them by. Step foward Marveux for the left side of Cisse with Benny on the right in a front 3. Marveux looked full of creativity and cleverness yesterday.

So in a 433, we just need to find another MD to fit in alongside Cabs and Mr T, possibly Corgnet and at the back a quick ball playing central defender (M’Biwa) and ditto at RB Debuchy.

  • 58 Rotonda heights // May 14, 2012 at 1:03 PM

    Tiote,

No you’re not, it’s turning me in to a dyslexic!

  • 59 catchy in norway // May 14, 2012 at 1:04 PM

    munster mag

its easy that, he hasnt got the right player for it,

for half a season he played jonas and obertan as wingers, and both have less goals and assists than HBA by himself,

if he is to play 442, he needs players with end product, he needs to drill it into them how he wants it played, keeping the width,

even when he went to 433 we were winning, but we played with a man down having Ba out on the lft, he isnt that type of player, pards likes to keep his players happy,,

with marv back (not thinking about players we havnt signed yet) we have someone who can give the team balance and create a lot of goals as well as score like HBA from the right

  • 60 LewSpi // May 14, 2012 at 1:09 PM

    Tiote & Rotonda

I’ll third that. I don’t like change. I’ll admit it is less buggy, but the comments are just all wrong being upside down, and it’s not obvious when there’s a new article, all I get is a small arrow, not like when we’d get the next article title in blue with the arrow etc.

  • 61 toonheroes // May 14, 2012 at 1:10 PM

Well happy with the whole season. At no point did the excitement dip and we have enjoyed some of the best football in the league.

The jury was still out at the beginning of the season as far as Pards was concerned but he has done brilliantly. Pards and Collo have galvanized the dressing room and the whole team have given everything. So proud of the lads.

    Defence:
Santon is young player of the year, Simpson and Will have worked their socks off and Simpson must have got us at least 10 points as well with his goal line clearances. That would be an interesting stat to work out for someone. Saylor: Solid as a rock and a goal threat as well. Epitomizes the toon.

    Defensive midfield:
Tiote, Mountain. Cabaye, Genius. Perch, most improved player. Matured into his role and proved a lot of doubters wrong. Shown great character. (almost player of the season).
Raylor: Did everything that was asked of him. Worked hard. Guthrie: When Tiote was away he filled in and had a few great games. Hardly notised Tiote was away. Was even talk that Tiote might not get his place back immediately.

    Attacking Midfield
Ben Arfa, Ben Arfa, Ben Arfa. Bums off seats player. Thanks Pards.
Gutierez: Asked to do a very difficult job. Always seemed to be playing two positions at the same time. Amazing work rate.
Obertan: Hope he comes good. Found it harder than the rest to settle in. Can be quick as lightening.

    Forwards:
    BA 16 goals 1/ 2 a season
    CISSE 13 Goals 1/2 a season
    Buys of the season.

We might lose a player or two this summer but I think we’ve learned that that is not always a bad thing.

    In Carver we trust

    HWTL

Hey guys this is my first post, been reading this blog for around a year now, just never taken part……

I think it has to be both Colloccini and Krul, without either of them this season would be the total opposite to what it is now!

  • 63 Toon-Barmy // May 14, 2012 at 1:17 PM

Off topic I know but I think we’re in for a busy summer in terms of transfers, possibly 10 in 10 out:

    OUT:
    Simpson – £4m
    Guthrie – Free
Best – £2m (Only got 1 year left on his contract)
    Smith – Free
    Lovenkrands – Free
    Harper – £0.5m
    Xisco – Loan/Free transfer
    Forster – £2m
    Ranger – £1m
    Kadar – Free

    IN:
GK – Need back-up for Krul & Elliot
    RB – Hopefully Debuchy
CB – Possibly Douglas, Vertonghen would be most peoples first choice I guess.
CB – Since Pardew doesn’t fancy Kadar we need a young centre-back for the future.
    LB – Hopefully Pieters.
RM – Still feel we need a young right-sided player, Knockeart would be my choice.
    CM – Amalfitano.
    CM – Possibly Corgnet.
CF – We are going to need a young striker to cover Cisse/Ba, no idea who we’ll go for though!

    Goal of the season:

Ben Arfa vs Blackburn for me. It was the first of the goals to get everyone talking about us. People started to take note after that.
Although I’ve never seen a goal like Cisses before I would put that down as goal of the decade but not goal of the season if you know what i mean.

Game of the season: Man U. I just loved that. Just loved beating them.

  • 66 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 1:22 PM

    Toon-Barmy…

Can’t see Harper going or us getting a fee for him if he does. Isn’t he on a one year contract??

I “hope” we bring in more players than we have now, not just replace outgoings. We already have a thin squad, although the quality has improved. We have more games next year, so will need the extra bodies. I would imagine we may see one biggish sale from the team that would fund the additional depth, but maybe the board have a surprise for us up their sleeves…it wouldn’t be the first time

  • 67 Garreth // May 14, 2012 at 1:29 PM

Newcastle’s in-form striker Papiss Cisse has denied that he could leave the club in the summer, following a return of 13 goals in just 14 appearances since joining in January.

“I hope to continue scoring goals for Newcastle next season,” he said. “I’m looking forward to playing in the Europa League.

“We wanted to play in the Champions League, but we can be very happy with what we have achieved this season.”

I reckon the only two players who’d be really hard to replace are Ben Arfa and Cisse. Maybe Tiote as well. The great thing about our position now is we’ve got a team full of assets – young, top players so we’re in a mssively strong position to kick on, especially as the other finances seem to be under control now.
To think we got where we did when Cisse and Ben Arfa only really played half a season each as well!! Imagine if we got a full season out of both of them!
CB and a quality LB (so Santon goes to RB) and I’d be happy over the summer plus replacements for anyone who leaves.

Anyone get seriously pi**ed of with Ba on sunday?? not looking 4 a scape goat but he was so fustrating especialy in the 1st half, he was like bambi on ice, like shola on a sh*t day, ive been paying extra close attention to him the last 10 games and hes been so bloody poor at times. on sunday we were seriously crying out for someone to win some balls in the air or even just to hold it up,make simple passes or take on someone, just anything !!! he looked so awckard and clumsy, like i said not useing him a scape goat cause his 16goals have seriously helped us be were we are but i felt like punching my laptop at times!! if shola started on sunday i think it would have been different, pards has been far 2 scared to drop ba recently, he needed a good kick up the arse ,maybe a wee rest even

  • 71 Toon-Barmy // May 14, 2012 at 1:46 PM

    @65

Harper has been told to find a new club, believe me.

Due to the 25 man squad rule we can’t bring in loads of extra players. We’ll have to supplement what we already have with younger players and give lads like Ferguson, Vuckic, Sammy Ameobi etc more games.

If we bring in/release the players I mentioned above we will be left with 25 senior players:
    Krul
    Elliot
    (New goalkeeper)
    (New RB)
    (New CB)
    (New LB)
    Colloccini
    S. Taylor
    Williamson
    R. Taylor
    Perch
    Santon
    Obertan
    Cabaye
    Tiote
    Jonas
    Marveaux
    Gosling
    (New RM)
    (New CM)
    (New CM)
    Cisse
    Ba
    Ameobi
    (New CF)

** I missed Ben Arfa from that list, he should be there instead of the new CF! :)

  • 73 nobby sol // May 14, 2012 at 1:51 PM

signing douglas and debuchy which pardew has hinted at would leave us with not a single english player in our starting 11

  • 74 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 1:52 PM

Toon-Barmy….I shall take your word on it then :) Is he still under contract or does that expire this year?

Truthfully, he’s not getting another game for us. Has he said he wants to continue or would he be looking to hang up the gloves?

  • 75 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 1:55 PM

Toon_Barmy…Easy mistake to make mate, it’s not like he’s a big player for us :)

Nobby Sol….Perhaps we should make a switch to Ligue 1?

  • 76 Toon_Tom // May 14, 2012 at 1:56 PM

nobby sol – Saylor (when back and fully fit) should be in our starting 11……….. and Krul is a geordie isnt he???

    ;)

  • 77 LocalZero // May 14, 2012 at 1:56 PM

Does everyone really want two new full backs? Surely Santon should get a regular place and probably that should be at RB?

  • 78 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM

LocalZero….Only need 1 FB for the starting 11 and then Santon for the other starting spot. I haven’t seen much of Tav, but here he’s a good player and I hope to see some more of him.

Also seen a lot of debate regarding young Fergie and whether he’s a LW or LB, so maybe we need another FB for depth? But certainly only 1 as a starter to replace the seemingly likely departure of the statistically best RB Danny Simpson.

  • 79 Toon_Tom // May 14, 2012 at 2:02 PM

reading between the lines and statistically speaking …..

Simo will today sign a new 6year deal worth £210,000 pw

  • 80 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 2:07 PM

Anyone wanting proof on statistics value just look at Ed’s poll above.

Guthrie apparently has 1% with 1 votes
Simmo apparently has 0% with 3 votes

    hmmm….

  • 81 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 2:09 PM

Toon_tom…if you took my mention of simmo being the best RB statistically as me agreeing, then apologies….it was a joke :)

  • 82 LocalZero // May 14, 2012 at 2:11 PM

Yeah, I’d love to see Debuchy at right back but maybe that’s a bit of a waste of money if Santon can go in there. Boilsen might be one for the future (at LB) but I’d like to see Pieters in. Good and solid. Tall (that’d be a full back line over 6 foot) and a mate of Krul’s to keep them both happy and help make sure the group stays together. If he’s good enough for the dutch national team…

  • 83 nobby sol // May 14, 2012 at 2:14 PM

Toon_Tom I cant see Saylor getting ahead of Douglas and coloccini so its hard to see where he fits in.

it will be interesting to see what happens this summer

  • 84 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 2:15 PM

I wouldn’t mind Santon staying at LB if a RB is signed up. Or maybe move him to the left wing and bring in a LB and RB…he’s looked pretty nifty in some games coming forward

  • 85 nobby sol // May 14, 2012 at 2:24 PM

    Perhaps we have missed a trick, aurelian chedjou, eden hazard and tulio de melo are all lille players who I imagine are friends of yohan cabaye’s, and weve been linked with all 3, okay hazard is a dream and wont happen but;

tulio de melo is on a free
and chedjou is a solid centre half

what with debuschy previously saying things about us surely its far too obvious for pards to give it away that its him we are after, It would not surprise me if it was Tulio de Melo

  • 86 CODARM (The poster formely known as Ibizatoon) // May 14, 2012 at 2:31 PM

Nobby sol….Like you’re investigative thinking. I think it’s odd for Pardew to say anything really, unless it’s already tied up, so would think debuchy is probably the right target given the interest to date….but who knows at this point

  • 87 GeordieFromIreland // May 14, 2012 at 2:33 PM

Does anyone still rate Taiwo? On loan at QPR? He hasn’t been a world beater there, but I reckon he would be great after getting adjusted to the league.

  • 88 Oxtoon // May 14, 2012 at 2:37 PM

Guys. This is my first post. I had to get involved as it has been such an amazing season. So many highlights.
Have to vote Colo for Player of the season as he has been immense and such a great choice as captain. Cant wait for next season now!

  • 89 Highlander // May 14, 2012 at 2:52 PM

    Cabaye and Krul for me.
I might even buy a French jersey this summer if Cabaye makes the team.

  • 90 Jonny // May 14, 2012 at 3:09 PM

Our captain should have 100% of that poll, without a shadow of a doubt.

  • 91 itsmartyn // May 16, 2012 at 1:12 AM

Cabaye! What a buy, hasn’t scored a lot of goals but his assists have been clinical to our success.
