Yohan Cabaye Apologizes For His Madness Yesterday

What was up with Yohan Cabaye yesterday?

A frustrated looking Yohan Cabaye yesterday

In the first half he pushed a 9 year old ball boy away to get the ball, but then he was seen giving the lad a hug after the half time whistle was blown.

And then right at the end of the game – the season was over – he had a confrontation with Everton’s Tim Cahill, and Tim was given a red card and Yohan recived a yellow card.

An angry Tim Cahill, had to be dragged away from Cabaye, after the Australian had grabbed the French International by the throat.

We have to think it was frustration on Yohan’s part, as Newcastle did not play well yesterday, and we were beaten and outplayed – at least in that first half.

But we all do daft things at times, and the sensible ones come out and apologize for it, and that’s exactly what Yohan Cabaye has done,  as he issued this statement last night:

“I would like to apologise for the cross words I exchanged with Tim Cahill which resulted in his red card and my booking on the final whistle.”

“It was unnecessary and, regrettably, the result of frustration and disappointment, all in the heat of the moment.” “It is out of character and for that I am sorry.”

“We have had a fantastic season at Newcastle United and already I look forward to next season, the Premier League and the Europa League.”

“Finally, a huge thank you to our fans who have been magnificent all season.”

It was not a good day at the office for Newcastle yesterday we know,  and for the second season running we have not won the last game, and not played particularly well either.

But last season was still a magnificent one for Newcastle and we now look forward to an excellent transfer season for Newcastle this summer, and Alan says he will be bringing in at least three top players in addition to replacing any first team player that leaves unexpectedly.

Sounds good to us.

    Repost

If i were Joey barton, i would probably have done the same thing, Tevez made a meal of whatever happened. He knew he had been unfairly sent off, if QPR go down, he could no longer do anything abt it. so why Not!!!!.

    P.S
This is just abt this incident, i am Not a thug like JOEY

Haha it put a smirk on my face as well Tsunki.

Apparently it was Cahill who confronted Yohan, regarding the ball boy incident.

sky sports stats show tiote as player with 4th most shots without result. Downing of course was first by a country mile. Buy him.

Lost some repsect for Cabaye cant lie was no need for what he did

Also pushing kids might not be in his character but getting frustrated and lashing out with stupid tackles is as we have seen more than once this season

oh oh – I know, they actually look like ‘ Carr’s Angels’ I should have spotted that earlier dammit. One should be holding a gun but I suppose that’s a bit provocative for a footy match.

Did he actually push him or did he just grab the ball and the kid fell back trying to hold on? the lad was also in a dip there so that didn’t help his balance. All a bit overblown imo. He also shook the lads’ hand and gave him a hug so that was nice. It’s not like he elbowed him in the face and then jammed his knee into his thigh as he turned his back, is it?

Could I also add that Cahill is an excitable little toerag as well? Why get sent off at the final whistle for that, it was ages ago? unless of course it was his son.

BTW I have two lads and they really could stand being pushed a bit from time to time. 🙂

@14, agreed that is one side of his game he needs to sort out, or he’s going to start seeing a few reds

As an australian (and toon fan), as much as I love cahill for his world cup efforts, he can be a bit of a wanker sometimes. He deserved the card.

He definitely didn’t push or assault the kid. Just snatched the ball off him in frustration coz the kid was a bit dopey and slow, then the little fella loses his balance and sits done on his stool. Cabaye’s probably a bit embarrassed and should have been a bit more careful but there was nothing in it that I can see.
Typical of Cahill to go looking for a ‘justifiable fight’ so he can massage his ego thinking he’s some kind of herto. There’s the mark of a proper thug. At least Cabaye has shown real quality and apologised.

Completely agree that this is all being blow completely out of proportion. Nothing in it and Cabaye made the extra effort to come over to the lad and apologise. Comparing him to a lowlife waster like Joey Barton is ridiculous.

Frustrations boil over at times and the pressure of playing the the black and white (…or maroon !! ) is immense. The red dealt with it well at the time and Cahill was just looking for the perfect excuse to kick off. Personally I like the ‘battler’ side of Cabaye – and I think if you try and take that side away from him his game would deteriorate. Obviously it’s about finding that balance but it’s clear where YC’s loyalties lie…and I love that about the lad!

Cabaye didn’t really push the kid if you watch it closely, the boy wasn’t being fast enough to Cabaye grabbed the ball forcefully.

The kid didn’t fall over, he sat down on his chair.
