One of the the things we’ve really come to like about Alan Pardew is not only is he really a down-to-earth guy, but he says it as it is with no BS.
Alan Pardew – thumbs up – it must be going well
We remembered a couple of months ago he was asked by an interviewer if he would like to stay at Newcastle for a long long time, and he said he’d be at Newcastle for as long as the team kept winning – so he has no illusions.
And it was obvious from the fans calling in last Friday night on what was really a great BBC Radio Newcastle call-in program, that the fans were just so delighted with the success Alan was bringing back to the famous Tyneside club.
Alan even said he knew it was difficult for the Newcastle fans because he was a Londoner, so it looks like John Carver is letting Alan know everything he needs to know about the Geordie Nation. 😀
Alan Pardew is obviously delighted that he has gained a level of respect from the Newcastle fans – and that’s not easy to do.
This is what Alan told the local press:
“I love working here, and love the fans.” “They’ve been great for me – they give me great respect and that’s all I want.”
“I don’t want anything else, not undying love, I just want respect. I do a tough job and I do it to the best of my ability.”
“It’s difficult, and I’m looking forward to a rest,” “It’s demanding, but I have say I love it.”
“The relationship I have here with my board is strong. If I can strengthen that, I will. It’s the most important relationship at any football club, trust me.”
It’s really hard to know how Alan could have done any better since he arrived at the club a short 18 months ago.
Well we suppose he could have come in and got Newcastle 90 points this season and won the league, but then the big clubs would now be after him.
So what he’s done for Newcastle in such a short time has been simply fabulous, and it was only fitting that he was named Barclay’s Premier League Manager of the Season and LMA Manager of the Season.
And the good thing about Alan is he’s a workaholic, and never satisfied – because he’s also a perfectionist. I know the type well, and he will be working his socks off over the summer months to build an even better team for Newcastle next season.
Alan will have seen how a man like Bobby Robson is admired, loved and immortalized on Tyneside, and while Alan is not one of us – there’s no reason in the future why we couldn’t see a bronze statue of Alan Pardew erected at St. James Park.
We hope that happens, because it would mean that Alan has been hugely successful on Tyneside, and that’s all we want to see.
That’s a thought.

I think we should do that now, as an experiment, think of a plausible rumour, everyone put it on twitter, and see how far it spreads.

Comment #95Rodriguez is on contract just until 30.06.2012, so we just pay somethink like 2-3 mils b-cause he is under 24 or something like that. He would be good replacement for Best, If Ba goes we will sign Luuk de Jong or Bas Dost. We will also sign a replacement for guthrie – Marvin Martin i hope so.., but he is too expensive as Sochoux will not be relagated (9.5 M euros), as Dijon are going down it is very likely we will sign Corgnet 3.5 M euros he is worth, but we will sign him for aprox 3-4 M Pounds. Debouchy would be perfect addition as he can play CDM (Even it Tiote stays, that’s a bonus because of ACON), I think Pieters is almost done deal as he is not in the Orange squad for euros, and he could play CB. Also quality defender will also come to the toon this summer (Douglas i believe is strong candidate), Also hoillet type player is also on the radar. Jerson Cabral from Feyenord would be perfect as he has only one year left on his contract. And in 28 matches he scored 7 goals and made 8 assits. Played 1895minutes. But Feyenord is in CL next season.. so it will be hell of the summer for our board trying to get the best quality plausible for a less infliated price..
130Troleibusiukas_LTU // May 15, 2012 at 7:25 PM
P.s i agree on Diame he is a must signing for us in the summer. You hardly can find players for free with such a good quality. I think Ashley will surely try toget him because, diame is not a risky buy and his sell value in few years will be simillar tiotes.

Comment #96Rich…I would guess the latter.
Pardew can’t be going anywhere. The only situation that I can see (other than the food related ones mentioned above) is Pardew insisting on big investment or Mike telling Pardew he’s selling everyone and replacing them with the mackems starting 11. I can’t see either of those two being probable.

Comment #97By Dan King – Newcastle
United Club Reporter
Newcastle are
competing in the annual
Citibank Hong Kong
Football Club
International Soccer
Sevens this weekend,
with Reserve Team
. Manager Willie Donachie
believing it will make his
youngsters better
players and better
people.
The Magpies fly out on
Tuesday evening and
will touch down in the
Far East on Wednesday
before competing in the
tournament on Saturday
and Sunday. A whole
host of British clubs,
including Chelsea,
Rangers, Celtic, Aston
Villa and Sunderland, are
taking part, alongside
several local teams.
Games are seven-a-side
and each half is seven
minutes long with a
one-minute break, and
Donachie and Football
Development Manager
Peter Beardsley have
named a ten-man
squad.
James Tavernier has
been a regular member
of the first-team squad
in the last few weeks of
the season while Paul
Dummett recently
returned from a
successful loan spell with
Gateshead.
Bradden Inman and Jak
Alnwick are joined by
Academy players Adam
Campbell, JJ Hooper,
Brandon Miele, Steven
Logan and Marcus
Maddison plus Slovakian
16-year-old Lubomir
Satka.
Donachie explained: “We
have been invited a few
times before and have
decided to go this year.
“It’ll be good for the
players to travel the
world and see a different
culture, a different
society and a different
climate. and it’s going to
be a good experience for
them.
“I believe strongly that
it’ll make them better
people, and that’s
important. They’re all
young and for people
like Tav and Dummy,
there’s the potential for
them to learn about
being leaders.
“We think it’ll be a good
tournament and the
players are away from
home together for a
week, which will be
good.”
United are in Group D
alongside Aston Villa,
Hong Kong Football Club
and HKFA Dragons, and
will compete in the
group stages on
Saturday at Hong Kong
Football Club, Happy
Valley before the
knockout stages on
Sunday.
Under-18s Coach Dave
Watson is staying on
home soil, but is pleased
to see several Academy
players involved.
“There’s five of my lads
going so it’ll be a great
experience for them,” he
said.
“It’s seven-a-side on
more or less a full-sized
pitch so it’ll be hard
work and it’ll be great
for them, getting this
experience and
travelling abroad with
the football club.
“It’s a fantastic life if you
can get it.”
The squad is: Jak
Alnwick, James
Tavernier, Paul
Dummett, Lubo Satka,
Steven Logan, Brandon
Miele, Bradden Inman,
Marcus Maddison, JJ
Hooper, Adam Campbell.

Comment #101The season was over two days ago and negative rumours is all over the place. Pardew sacking, Ba unhappy and Cisse to follw him. “It will be hard to hold onto the best players”. A lot of Bullshit and I expect it to be like this until the window closes. But ofcourse the intersting bit is what actually happends. Hope we sign 4 players (not counting talents under 18) and if we are selling players they will get replaced.
I can maybe see Ba leaving, at most two of our best players.
This season has been incredible and our position is much stronger than last summer, which means it is easier to hang onto the players because of what we can offer (PL and EL), Ofcourse our players are more attractive, but if we accept an offer from a club doesen’t mean the players want to leave..
maybe i’m naive but I think most of our players are excited about building on this season and even better next year. I’m staying positive until reality (not rumours) shows I’m wrong.
HWTL. Newcastle will rock next season 😀

Hopefully top 6 again, although I hope europe doesn’t fatigue our team, a decent cup run without going out to lower league opposition and some memorable European nights.
Also why have you changed your name to WWYCD?

Comment #103WWDD….honest expectation for next season?
Priority 1) Finish top 6 again.
Priority 2) To have some of the youngsters given more playing time to bring them along – No need to pay big fees for players if we have our own growing with the club.
Priority 3) A decent (ish) run in the EL. I think for people to say we could / should win it is a bit over the top. We have to be realistic, we’ve done well in the PL this season, but have had nothing else to concentrate on. I firmly believe the EL will take some toll on the team, so to think we should be pushing top 4, getting the the final of the EL and having good runs in the Carling and FA Cup is just too much too soon. So priorities lads…priorities! You have to learn to walk before you can run and all that rubbsih

My expectations are either:
1) Top half finish, 1-2 good cup runs, maybe 1 final.
2) Top 6 finish, 1 good cup run
I think it will be asking too much to get top 6 again and have a good cup run, but if you offered me 8th and a piece of silverware right now I (and I think most other NUFC fans) would snap your hand off. We desperately need some silverware, that’s all we’re missing right about now.

Comment #105I hope for a top 6 challenge and at least get past the groupstage in EL.
But its hard to predict so early, because of transferbusiness.
Hoping for a busy window which will benefit us. We did pretty well last summer and was the best in january together with everton (cisse and jelavic)

Comment #106Well a lot of our players are full internationals….will they get in their national squad sitting on the bench?
its how it works for england as we pick on reputation….other countries select a lot on form. Ben arfa would be no where near the euros coming off the bench for man utd for example.
I think players would only leave for first team football at a top side….not to bench warm.

Comment #107How do you think the players wanting Euro football with view the expectations of next season. Go for some silverware, but risk not even getting EL? Or guarantee Europe for the following season? I’d love some silverware, but would I want Liverpool’s season? Not a chance.

Comment #109Codarm, at the beginning of the season we all would have taken Liverpools season. Finishing 8th, winning the Carling Cup and getting to the final of the FA cup? That would have exceeded expectations by a long way. For Liverpool, it was a bad season because of their investment and expectations. For us, it would have been more than acceptable.
Having said that, I much prefer the season we have had. But let’s not forget that winning silverware guarantees EL as well, so there are more than one way of getting back into the competition. It will be much harder to break the top 6 next season when we have all these extra games.

Comment #110I’d take liverpools season if it means us winning the EL or the FA cup (can’t see it happening) they’ve had a dissapointing season where their home form has let them down.
Transfers priorities-
1) 2 defenders : 1fb 1cb
2) 1 striker
3) 1 winger
Hopefully we can get all of these.

Comment #114I think our target next year should be a top 7 finish (remember the 2 ‘big’ sides below us, chelsea and liverpool have larger spending power than us so if they get it right they could be ahead)
and we should look for a good cup run…..aim for quarter finals in all cups, then see what happens.
I think transfer priorities are (providing nobody goes)
1) CB
2) RB (or left back if santon moves to the right)
3) CM – creative/passer
4)striker – need somebody when ba and cisse away
5)LW
6) another CB

Nice to see some realistic expectations coming out tbh. I was worried everyone would be expecting top 4, a trophy and European glory nect season, I was expecting a negative cloud falling over NUFC again next season which would be a huge shame
