Everybody Included At Newcastle – Cabaye Happy On Tyneside

Newcastle signed Yohan Cabaye last summer, for the amount in his release clause in his contract – which was a meager €5M.

Yohan Cabaye – great first season on Tyneside

At the time that translated to about £4.3M,  and he became another bargain buy for Newcastle, and we hope to see more of those type of deals this summer.

It was a win-win for both the player himself and Newcastle, as Yohan had an outstanding first season on Tyneside, and the 26 year-old is  expected to start for France in his central midfield role against England in Group D of the Euro 2-12 on July 11th.

Maybe he’ll have an off day against England. 😀

And Yohan was delighted with just how well Newcastle United performed in the Premier League last term, and he seems happy to be at Newcastle:

“Finishing fifth was beyond the expectations of the club and fans,” “We had a long unbeatean run at the start of the season, which helped gain confidence.”

“There are many French and African players here, as at Arsenal, so there isn’t a language barrier, which makes things easier,”  “We get along well with everyone – there really is a good atmosphere in this group.”

“We do not exclude anyone.”  “Newcastle was the only club with which negotiations were initiated.”  “This was the only real offer I received, but I did not go there by default.”

“After the title and the Cup victory in France, I think collectively and individually it was not possible to do more.” “I needed to grow, and I’m really happy with my choice.”

“It even helped me to play more with Les Bleus.”

In fact the success that Cabaye has had, along with the other French-speaking players at Newcastle, including Sylvain Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Gabby Obertan, Demba Ba , Papiss Cisse and Mehdi Abeid, should make it a lot easier in the summer for Newcastle to sign even more French players.

At least one Frenchman will soon be announced at Newcastle, and that is 22 year old Reims  midfielder Romain Amalfitano, who has already signed a pre-contract agreement, and will ink a three year deal on July 1st, and we  do expect his signing to be announced by the club within a week or two.

Newcastle have also been linked with right-back Mathieu Debuchy of Lyon,  and Montpellier captain and center-back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa  – although other clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal may also be more than interested in those two Frenchmen.

Comments welcome.

    Davy me too.
I can see it being a bit disappointing to be honest. Bet we’re looking at some players whose values will go up from the tournament.

Pieters has been unlucky with injuries hasn’t he. Could probably do without that.

Santon is shaping up well at lb so that french would slot in nicely at rb.

I have seen him a fair few times during his teams campaign in the Europa league, he is decent, not the quickest but no slouch either, he his a mountain of a man tho, great in the air, and is also a ball playing CB, kinda like a collo and Saylor mixed in one..he will be a good signing, but I would prefer mbiwa though, but won’t be disappointed if we get him..

Getting serious withdrawal symptoms now the season is over. Thank god it is the Euros this year.

Have watch Giroud a lot recently and he is amazing. But it’ll never happen. he is valued at like £20m and a number of top clubs will be after him.

Heard Man U are also looking into Debuchy. Hope not as I really want this lad “over the line” as Pards would say.

On subject of Euro squad. I a a bit disappointed to be honest.

No Holt, who has almost as much Prem experience as Welbeck now and a better scoring record. He has probably clocked more minutes than Welbeck this season. People go “He’s never played at international level” well Welbeck has what? 4 caps that;s going to make little difference. Carroll has looked good recently but he’s had a terrible season before that. Would rather have Sturridge and Holt over them two.

Also Micah Richards should be in there over Phil Jones.

Really expected more from Roy. With Rooney missing for the first part we will have to rely on Defoe and hope Walcott and Gerrard can nick a few. Lampard is far too old to be in there.

If you will select Lampard then why not select Beckham still?!?!?

It’s a shame Kyle Walker is injured and so is Wilshere because they would have been great.

My ideal starting 11 would be this

    Hart
    Walker Terry Lescott Baines/Cole
    Parker Wilshere Gerrard
    Walcott Chamberlain
    Rooney

I suppose we aren’t going to see any progress on transfers until we go through the usual process. Boardrooms are filled with bickering rich guys foaming at the mouth over a trashed season and plummeting shares. Cue the departure of several managers and their entourages, followed by the new broom personnel who start drawing up their wish lists, before handing their crayon-etched notes on fag packets to those same boards for perusal. After having been given roughly a fifth of the requested budget and on provision they sell some of their best players, hastily-hired scouting ‘teams’ are pushed out the doors of these clubs and into planes trains and automobiles to find some bargains. Failing that Youtube or a mate’s brothers’ sisters. former next door neighbours’ friend at works budgie with a tip on the next hot prospect who turns out to be a 2nd cousin of the one who can actually play football and still has two legs.

Watch for when they turn up for the cameras at their new club, of whom they have been ‘lifelong fans’, holding the away shirt with their name mis-spelled on it, upside down.

That’s the stage at which our transfer dealings will start to come to light. Can’t wait for the circus to start proper.

I actually don’t think Newcastle will be losing any of their ‘big names’

    Tiote:

Chelsea are happy with Meireles and Mikel, seemingly.
Man City have Toure, Barry & De Jong
Man U-doesnt fit their system of play.

    Ba:
Chelsea: Most likely to be interested, but they prefer strikers with better hold up play.
    Man City: not a chance
Man U: not their style of striker
PSG: linked with tevez, berbatov, suarez ..ba might not be a ‘marquis’ enough signing for a club looking to establish itself as the new Man City.

Ba’s dip in form at the end of the season might be enough to worry teams from signing.
    Cisse:

He’s too much of a risk for big clubs to be splashing the major bucks to sign. His CV at the upper level is too short. Footballing Directors prefer splurge cash on big names; Any dip in form can be blamed on the player. Everyone remembers it was Dennis Wise who signed Xisco, but people tend to blame Michael Owen for being crap at newcastle…not the director.

    Ben Arfa: Same as above.

Cabaye: Top Premier league teams are plush with CM’s at the moment. We’re in a golden age of box to box midfielders.

@davybtoon saw the video you posted for Alderwereid and definitely looks an appealing purchase as he can for sure tackle and has got a rocket on his right foot. Him and Mbiwa out of all the CBs we have been linked with look the best but i’m more leaned towards Mbiwa just because of his pace and strength also i think Alderwereid would be very difficult to purchase if Vertonghan goes to Arsenal or Spurs. Yeah and sign up Debuchy as he’s a class RB and one of Cabaye’s best mates as shown in this video:

I’m hoping the Cabaye connection and the lure of the progressive team ethic will help Debuchy ignore the eye-fluttering of the Man U’s of this league. I have a feeling we have the edge. With Him and Cabaye in the squad, who will be the third hunk to complete ‘Carr’s Angels’? Wowser!

I trust Carr very much but really wanted to sign Marvin Martin but if we sign Romain Amalfitano that is not going to happen 🙁
I hope that the Amalfitano story isn’t true in someways because I still have a seed of doubt but that’s probably just because he’s in the French second tier and also Marvin Martin would be such an appealing purchase.
