Newcastle Eyeing Dutch International Central Midfielder

We half expect that Demba Ba may leave Newcastle this summer, but don’t expect any more top Newcastle players to be leaving.

Vurnon Anita – Ajax Dutch International midfielder

But news today in the Dutch media that Newcastle are watching 5’6″ Ajax star Vurnon Anita, and the defensive midfielder is said to be a replacement if Cheick Tiote leaves the club this summer.

The 23 year-old Dutch International has played 3 times for Holland, and he made his debut for Ajax back in March of 2006, just weeks before his 17th birthday.

Newcastle have been watching Ajax a lot this season and we had thought it was principally because of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, their two Belgium center-backs,  but maybe this lad has caught the eye.

But we really don’t expect Cheick to be leaving Newcatsle, although the Ivory Coast International has been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea this year, and if he goes it’s surely got to be for big big money.

The reports in Holland are that Newcastle’s scouting network, led by the so impressive Graham Carr, have identified Anita as a possible replacement for Tiote,  should he leave for pastures anew.

Anita has been named in the provisional 27-man squad for the European Championships, along with Tim Krul, and Holland must have a decent chance of even winning the tournament this summer.

He was also named in the provisional Dutch World Cup squad for the World Championships held in South Africa in 2010,  but he didn’t make the final cut.

We had always thought that Newcastle would go after Blaise Matuidi of PSG,  if Cheick Tiote ever left Newcastle, but we think Newcastle are lining up replacements for their top players only if they get Andy Carroll type bids coming in over the summer.

That’s good planning, and it’s one thing Newcastle have been excellent at over the last couple of years.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best is always a good motto to bear in mind.

But we hope Cheick Tiote is going nowhere in the summer.

What do you think?

Getting all the way back from IKEA with a wardrobe and finding out there’s bits missing is too good for Ashley.

    On Richard’s blog:
“Richard Branson has bought Pluto and intends to have it reinstated as a planet.”
Cool, but who sold it to him, the Plutons (or is it Plutonians?) Also, what was the price? Finally, where can one buy a planet from, always fancied Venus (definitely not Uranus

    God it’s all guess work!!!

Every DM midfielder wwe are linked with is automatically labeled as Tiotes replacement.

    Balls I say.

Whatever happened to Pardew wanting another DM to play alongside Tiote. It makes perfect logical sense. It would free up Cabs to play attacking and give cover and competition for Tiote,

Lazy journalism getting all the chickens in the coup to run around in a mindless fashion

Beattie, thats a much more positive outlook and it makes sense as Guthrie looks like he’s said his goodbyes,I still dont think Gosling has what it takes so another DM would make perfect sense,I wonder how much Pards will have to spend this summer not counting on incoming money.

Well in a normal world we would have a bit to spend. With tv money, renewed kit sponsorship and money made due to merchandise we could have a tidy sum. I’d hope that mike has seen the potential for making big money by investing into a few transfers propellIng nufc into the CL and receiving all that global advertising for Sports Direct. I would say that without sales we should have 20-25 million. But that would be in the normal world and unfortunately we live in our very own twilight zone so your guess is as good as mine.

I think MA has to spend more than usual this summer. Because the club has got momentum now, and clubs like chelsea, arsenal, liverpool and spurs will strngthen the squad so the competition gets even harder next year.

I just hope MA uses this opportunity to buy 3-4 classplayers. Ofcourse we should do the scoutingjob as allways, but we must take a step up in quality, and have proper backup if for example colo, Cisse or ben arfa gets injured.

might aswell slap down a bid for the whole Ajax starting 11. that’s Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Boilssen, Anita, Siem De Jong and Boerrigter. To be fair Sujemani would suit our 3 man attack perfectly!

So expect him, Sigborsson, Cillessen, Van Der Wiel and Eriksson to be linked soon.

Who knows lads what could/will happen this Summer. If players leave, they leave. Nothing we can do about it, but I have learned this season to judge the boys that take the field in our shirt, not the ones that have left. Even if we do lose a few, I am sure they will be replaced. If I could choose one to go, from the top players, I would reluctantly say Ba. His attitude seemed slightly suspect, but more importantly, we lose 2 strikers to the ACON at the same time, leaving us struggling big style. I would love De Jong in, or even Rhodes. A none African alternative so we don’t look so threadbare during the ACON.

All speculation and nothing other than hat.
Its guess work that Tiote will stay too,so really, these threads are pointless.
Ile wait till the start of the season to see who we,ve got in our ranks then ile be able to have a pop at predicting a finishing position.
Two good additions would satisfy me providing Ba stays,a good centre half and a good left back

Signing a DM as cover – not a replacement – for Tiote is one of the transfer targets. My agent mate told me this weeks ago and I posted on here + that Best will be replaced by a young up and coming striker.

Douglas is defo a target but the problem is we don’t want to wait until he qualifies to play for Holland – it would mean he misses most of pre-season. Thats why another CH may be signed instead of Douglas.

Given Cheik’s likely unavailability this coming season due to suspensions and the Africa Cup of Nations, we should be recruiting quality cover for him, and because of the ACoN, cover for Ba and Cissie – not replacements in the event of any of them leaving!!
