Rennes French U21 Winger Watched By Newcastle

Sources in France have said that Newcastle are interested in Rennes’ attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi.

Yacine Brahimi – Rennes French U21 winger

Alan Pardew has said that when Newcastle are going after a player for a particular position, they may have five or even more players lined up, and then they will go after their first choice.

But if there are barriers to getting him, they will move onto the second choice and so on.

There are also cases where an opportunity arises, and a player is suddenly made available, and Newcastle may move for them, even though they are not on their official list.

So when we are linked with all these players this summer,  bear in mind they may not be Newcastle’s first choice, and yes – they may also be made up stories. 😀

The 22-year-old Brahimi looks an exciting prospect indeed, and has played for the France U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 sides – a full house of Youth caps  –  and he has 7 caps at the U21 level.

Brahimi seems a gifted player, so we hope it’s true that Newcastle are interested in this lad.

The 5’9″ tall Paris born winger of Algerian descent was at PSG, his home town club from 2004 through 2006,  before moving to Rennes and in the last couple of seasons he has played 48 times for Rennes with 9 goals.

The 22 year-old had an opportunity to represent Algeria in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but he turned down the chance in the hopes he will play for the full France side, the country of his birth,  in the future.

Arsenal, Real Madrid and a number of German clubs are also keeping tabs on this top youngster, who only turned 22 in February.

Sylvain Marveaux joined Newcastle from Rennes last summer, so he will know this youngster well.

Here’s some video of the player.

What do you think?

    From previous post:-

Who knows lads what could/will happen this Summer. If players leave, they leave. Nothing we can do about it, but I have learned this season to judge the boys that take the field in our shirt, not the ones that have left. Even if we do lose a few, I am sure they will be replaced. If I could choose one to go, from the top players, I would reluctantly say Ba. His attitude seemed slightly suspect, but more importantly, we lose 2 strikers to the ACON at the same time, leaving us struggling big style. I would love De Jong in, or even Rhodes. A none African alternative so we don’t look so threadbare during the ACON.

Think we do need a another right winger to give Ben Arfa and Obertan more competition, and to stop us from playing Raylor there

Does it make any difference to us if Chelsea win the ECL?

At which stage do we enter the Europa League?

Chelsea should lose in CL final. If they lose we go straight to the groups… otherwise we must play in the playoffs which isn’t any good. First of all they have a plenty of good teams in the playoffs and second we didn’t play in Europe from six years and our rank is poor. Besides if we goes to playoffs our season will start sooner and we will play more matches.

As long as we start the next season with more players than we ended this season with and the new recruits are an improvement on those that left, I think we will do well next season.

The speculation on the Who, The How much, is inevitable as is the same re those who may, or may not be leaving. Until the season starts there will be lots of speculation and conjecture – its just now worth getting worked up about lol.

One difference could be that if we we both in for the same player, but Spurs could offer Champions League, it cold make them seem more attractive (deluded fools). If we are both in the Europa, however, ……..
