Richard Branson Praises Newcastle – Roll On Next Season

Richard Branson seems to be happy that Newcastle have made it back into Europe for next season.

Richard Branson – in Newcastle trying to impress with his footballing skills

One of Richard’s companies, Virgin Money, bought out Newcastle’s former sponsors  Northern Rick and Virgin Money became the sponsors of Newcastle’s shirts earlier this year.

And just in time to wear the new logo on the famous black and white strips, when we took Manchester United apart 3-0 at St. James’ Park in early January.

Virgin of course is a very well run company, and we’ve always thought the logo looks great on the Newcastle strips.

When Richard came to visit Newcastle during the unveiling of the new sponsorship deal, we thought he may even take over the Stadium naming rights.

But no company seems to interested in  that, and the fact that Newcastle fans are dead against it – will not help the club sell those rights anytime soon.

A few days ago Richard wrote a congratulation piece on his blog, and this is what it said:

“Congratulations to Newcastle United for such a brilliant season.”

“It is a privilege to sponsor the club with Virgin Money, and it’s great to see the team bring so much joy to the fans in the north east of England and around the world.”

“I got the chance to meet some of the players when we launched Virgin Money in Newcastle earlier this year, and I think it’s fair to say our name on the shirts has been something of a lucky charm! ??”

“Well done to the manager Alan Pardew and everyone at Newcastle United for making it into Europe – roll on next season.”

It’s good to have Richard talk about Newcastle in such positive terms – and it’s right that Newcastle have done very well since Virgin took over the sponsorship of the shirts in early January.

And it’s very good to have the well-known Billionaire involved at Newcastle.

And we also hope that Mike Ashley got a decent deal on the sponsorship with Virgin Money,  and that the deal included a clause for extra payments in case Newcastle made it into Europe for next season.

With the way Mike Ashley operates his businesses,  we are fairly confident he did just that.

It’s great to have Richard on board for Newcastle United.

Getting all the way to the swimming baths and forgetting his trunks is too good for Ashley.

Reading over the lines I get the feeling that the general consensus is that most fans would be happy for Ba to be replaced with a non ACON striker who would be better suited to the system used since signing Cisse, just hope everyone hasn’t forgottten how great Demba was in the first half of the season, and that people realise that Cisse will have his share of injuries and fatigue and will be absent for the ACON,so whoever does replace Ba will have big shoes to fill.

The only way for Ba to stay is he makes announcement that he wants to stay or do like Cisse: sue the journalist.

    Regarding Ba:

For me I want him to stay but if it is his character to crave attention then I don’t want him.

If he wants to leave then bye bye. Yeah we will only get 3-5 million but his goals have given us more than that anyway due to where we are in the league.

There is no room in nufc for greed anymore and he either stays for footballing reasons or leaves for his own selfishness.

Whatever the result ill be happy.

Ba went on strike at Hoffenhiem, dumped West Ham after relegation and now could potentially take another massive pay day at our expense.

Is it not about time he settled? We shall see

    On Richard’s blog:
“Richard Branson has bought Pluto and intends to have it reinstated as a planet.”
Cool, but who sold it to him, the Plutons (or is it Plutonians?) Also, what was the price? Finally, where can one buy a planet from, always fancied Venus (definitely not Uranus 🙂

I am beginning to feel very sorry for Demba Ba. He has gone through a patch in which he has been unable to score despite going very close on numerous occasions. As a result he has shown frustration, almost certainly with himself. However a lot of you guys seem to think that he is throwing his toys out of the pram and wants to leave because he is not getting his own way. Beattie and redondo seem particularly convinced of Ba’s selfishness. I feel as though he is being extremely and unfairly criticised. In the first half of the season he was one of those players who played the game with a smile on his face and who unquestionably was a fans favourite not just with his goals but his attitude, both to the game and to the fans. Suddenly it is all changed. I would remind redondo that Ba just a week or so ago said that he didn’t wish to leave and was very happy here. Does he have to repeat it every few days? I think he is doing it the Ashley and Pardew way by saying nothing further. What is to be gained by repeating it over and over again other than trying to satisfy a few fans who will just not leave it alone. These fans strikes me more like kids with a shiny new toy. The much loved older but still classy toy can be thrown away because it is no good any more. What a load of rubbish!
Just what has Ba done wrong other than show his frustration for not doing his job as well as he knows he can. Can we not all identify with that? If Ba reads these comments he will probably be asking himself just why should he stay after all.
