Newcastle’s Pre-Season Activities Announced Next Week

Newcastle United are busy putting together their pre-season schedule, and we would expect some announcements on that next week.

With St. James’ Park being used for the Olympic games this summer,  most of the games will take place away from home, and there were rumors last week that Newcastle would play Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.

And it seems almost certain that Newcastle will play in the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa, which is the top pre-season tournament in all of Africa, and is being hosted by the Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs – two South African clubs.

The fourth team in that tournament could be Tottenham, who played in the tournament last summer, but the London club will be commiserating today with the £20M or so they have lost by being in the Europa League next season,  rather than the much more profitable Champions League.

And the fact that Tottenham are not in the Champions League could also adversely affect their transfer business this summer.

Chelsea beat Bayern Munich last night in the European Champions final, and therefore become England’s 4th club in that tournament next season.

Chelsea became the first team ever to finish outside the top five of their local league, and win the Champions League – which is an indication of just how strong the English Premier League is these days.

And Newcastle of course finished above the new European Champions in 5th place in the Premier League – had to get that one in. 😀

It seems that Newcastle could be playing Cardiff  City in South Wales as part of their pre-season activities, with Alan Pardew close friends with Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay.

The local media in South Wales are reporting that Newcastle will play in Cardiff City on Saturday 11th August, which is  the weekend before the Premier League starts up next season.

With their exploits of last season,  Newcastle are in big demand this summer, but of course none of this is official until announced by the club itself.

But we would expect to see some announcements on the Newcastle pre-season next week.

Comments welcome.

@ 2, I’d hate to imagine our reation if we were in 4th but couldn’t play the CL. I hope we wouldn’t be as mental as some of the Spurs fans citing racist statements and threatening to kill people!
Sorry but I can’t help smiling ….. 😆 ok laughing then….. Poor ‘Arry! ……. lol

So happy Chelsea won the Champions League as i hate Tottenham also it’s going to benefit us as Chelsea will always keep their big stars as they have the money but Spurs will now lose their players like Bale & Modric and Adebayor will not go back to them permanently so they’ll be severely weakened for next season also don’t have the scouts to find them good replacements so all is good for the Toon.

On the Danny Simpson saga, i agree that he does deserve a good pay rise but not at this club because if we want to progress then we need better fullbacks e.g. Debuchy. Simpson should join one of the newly promoted sides and i hope he has a decent career and i will clap when he comes back to SJP next season for being a good servant but i think Pards knows that we’re not going to meet his salary demands mainly because we want a better RB so we can challenge for the Top 4 next season rather than his demands being just too high on their own.

Really don’t understand all the English hate for the Europa League. Sure its not the Champions League but to be in any European competition a privilege. Can’t wait to be playing teams like Athletico Madrid, Leverkusen and Bordeaux.

Yeah, my attitude towards simpson is a bit more sympathetic. He’s not trying to bleed the club dry I’m sure of that. He’s not a pirate. He just wants to stay and be paid what he thinks is fair, as he wants to challenge for that rightback spot. He’s played nearly every game so he’s got leverage to get a small rise but the club want a more senior player for the position and he would be deputy. So have offered a contract based upon that. If he goes to a fulham or even a west ham he’ll be happy and I wish him well. Definately deserves a good reception on return.

Danny Simpson, while a good player for our start of season ambitions, top ten, is not the kind if player to help us build on this season and improve for next year.

The clubs have realised this and that is why the contract he has been offered is not on par with the clubs other top players like, krul, colocinni, cisse…..etc.

He knows from the offer he gets he will be playing 2nd fiddle to a new full back brought in and you can’t blame him for wanting to leave.

If you got paid less than those around you would want to go somewhere you felt more valued. And at the end of the day it’s not like we can keep him happy with trophies…we are some way off winning one currently.

He is a good standard prem league player but not of european level. He will be replaced by better come the start of the season.

Want to thank him though as he has played a big part in getting us back into the premier league and has had a solid, all be it not a spectacular , season.

I for one fully expect to see ferguson, abeid, sammy, vuckic and tav make a big impression next year, probably in the carling cup.

A bit dubious about signing clyne since will signal the end for tav, feel that simpson is all but gone.

Pardew has a big decision to make for next season- 433, where players like ba and jonas will lose out, or 442, which cabaye and hba are not suited to.

I would say we need a cb, a rb a top cm a lw and a striker in that order of priority, i feel that we may get the first three

    Howay the lads!!!

England : no NUFC players and Carrol often described as Judas, but it is England …

France : Cabaye, maybe Ben Arfa and even Debuchy who might be a NUFC player

Please, let’s not start giving credence to the twitter morons.

We know how under wraps the club keeps its transfer dealings. Why would some kid with the name “Nufc ITK” know anything?

And let’s face it, we’re not going to sign 2 right backs when we have Santon, Simpson, Raylor, Perch and Tav.

Oh dear. That weren’t at me was it JFA?

Not really wantin to bring a sensitive political debate into a football blog here, but as far as I’m concerned the falklands are british, occupied by a democratic people wanting british sovereignty. For argentina to change that they would have to do so by force, or an invasion. On the whole I hope sensible argentinian’s don’t dislike britain for this stance as much as the good of men here don’t dislike argentina

England and the dregs that represent us are a disgrace, the French aren’t without their scandals though, but to a lesser extent, so I’m supporting France for that match and enjoying the rest of the tournament from a neutral position, albeit aside from hoping England lose each game.

Roy had a chance to reset the majority of the countries stance, by not selecting the likes of the racist, limelight pinching, sly adulterer, thug, son of thieves that is John Terry. He didn’t.
