Newcastle Placed 8th In Premier League Table Of Last 20 Years

Newcastle are officially the eight best team in the Premier League since the top English league was formed back in 1992.

Alan Pardew – got us into 5th place last season with 65 points

Newcastle missed the very first season, when Kevin Keegan was getting Newcastle promoted from the second division,  and we also missed the 2009-2010 season, when we were again finishing at the very top of England’s second division, under the leadership of  Chris Hughton.

So in the two seasons Newcastle have not competed in the Premier League we have won the Championship, both by a massive number of points.

In 1993 we won the league by 8 points with 96 total points under Kevin, and in 2010 we won the league by 11 points, with 102 points from the 46 games under Chris – not too bad at all.

The Premier League have put together a league table based on the number of total games each club has played over the 20 seasons,  and the points they have recieved in total over that time period.

Manchester United are at the top of the table, followed by Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool – so there are no surprises there.

Aston Villa, Tottenham and Everton are the clubs just above Newcastle in the table, and we are only 17 points short of Everton’s total in 7th place – maybe we can catch them next season. 😀

There are still only five clubs who have ever won the Premier League – Manchester United (12), Blackburn Rovers (1), Arsenal (3), Chelsea (3) and last season for the first time – moneybags Manchester City – the best team money can buy.

We want to see Newcastle in that list sometime soon, but it will have to be really soon if I am going to ever see that happen.

Anyway – we live in hope.

Here is the table.

    Jail,
If we win Europa League will you change your name to “Bail for Ashley” and then if we win PL to “Hail for Ashley”, or does the name stay 😉

It wasnt an insult to you I was merely being ironic that Ashley could steal a Jfa joke and it would be too good for him, I wasnt directing anything at you.

Here are some stats that confirm that, indeed, Cabaye is Awesomeness:

    http://www.eplindex.com/14737/premier-league-team-year-1112-opta-stats-part-2-midfield.html

stats say he’s the best midfielder in the EPL. I know stats are bs, but so is saying X player is the ‘best’.

Beardo has never been away! I confided my trickle of knowledge a few days ago.

They call him Peter the Great
    He wears number 8
    He plays for the Toon
    He’s called Beardsley
    He’s beautiful and he’s ours,
    all ours all ours

Let’s hear it once more resonate around St James Park!

@lukes26 – stats are only bs in relation to Danny Simpson. They are outweighed by the common knowledge that he backs off, can’t cross and is greedy. I know this because I have read it a thousand times on this blog. However we will soon be signing a french full back who is brilliant – despite no one ever having actually seen him play.

Must admit that I respect ‘Heart on his sleeve’ kind of players like Bellamy, Joey, Carroll, Cabaye, Taylor. Much worse are the ‘dark’ ‘innocent’ players of the De Jong, Terry mould.

I understand what you mean Cyprus but there’s a difference between wearing your heart on your sleeve and being a petulant bellend. Barton and bellamy definitely the latter there.

Is Barton much worse than Rooney? What if another player had done what he did? Not being his lawyer, mind. I know he’s no saint, but I think he is trying to straighten his act, despite the setback.

    Graham,
you’re right of course. But, look at Bellamy now. He quietly does charity work, he seems ok these days. And, imagine where we’d be if we’d kept him rather than Sounness who, as a player was much like Bellamy only a dirtier player!

Rooney is my pet hate player. When he kicked that bloke in the international game it was just another in a long list of his idiotic moments. But the press treat him like a national hero.
