Two More Frenchman To Follow Amalfitano To Newcastle?

The signing of Romain  Amalfitano from Reims was announced earlier today by Newcastle.

Mathieu Debuchy – on his way to Newcastle?

And while that was expected for a few months now,  there is also news today that Newcastle could be bringing  in another two Frenchman to the club.

The first one seems highly likely, as Mathieu Debuchy did what Yohan Cabaye did last year, and  bid an emotional goodbye to the Lille fans after what was almost certainly his last game for the French club.

Like Yohan Cabaye, before he joined the Magpies, Lille is the only club Mathieu has ever played for, and he joined them back in 2003.

Yohan Cabaye has said his close friend very much wants to join Newcastle, and we could have an announcement from Newcastle on that fairly soon, or so the rumors go.

The other player we are linked with would also be a tremendous signing, and the player is Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who Newcastle have been linked with him all season.

One advantage the French U21 International has, is that he can play anywhere across the back four, and Alan Pardew wants to sign at least one versatile defender in this transfer window.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – would be great signing for Newcastle

Mapou has also been named in the provisional French squad of 27 for the Euro 2012 Championships, and with Tottenham center-back Younes Kaboul out injured and not available, the Montpellier center-back could see himself make the final squad of 23.

We’re not sure if Newcastle will be able to sign these two players before the European Championships, because generally clubs like to hold onto their players and hope they have good tournaments, which will help raise their transfer fee.

But Newcastle on the other hand will want to sign their targets just as soon as possible in the summer, and if they can capture Debuchy and Yanga-Mbiwa, we could be watching four Newcastle players in French colors this summer.

We have no idea if these reports are true, but certainly Debuchy and Yanga-Mbiwa would be great signings for Newcastle – there’s no doubt about that.

What do you think?

We could get this pair for around £14m combined, be a great bit of business, get rid of Simpson and net spend around £12m.

Let’s hope Amalfitano turns out alright. I went on a Reims forum and they were saying that he was quiet good (he’s also good at set pieces) but from the moment he was announced at Newcastle he took his eye off the ball and went missing for most of the season so most are happy to see him go.

But they did say that he came back well for the final match and had a decent performance. Hope he can make the step up to EPL

Is it just me, or do we need more English/British players. I know we want the best team we can get but at the end of the day we are an English team and need English players. Get Clyne. He’s good and English

According to nufcfans, we’re now talking to Nathan Clyne.
Something tells me it’ll be him and not Debuchy…

Although Debuchy is probably a good player, I just don’t see the point in us signing him. We have Santon, Raylor, Perch, Tavernier, Gosling and Saylor who can play right back. Cissokho is a more realistic option. We urgently need a left-footed left back. We have to try and keep Ba at the club and sign either Luuk De Jong or Giroud. Signings like this will have us challenging for second spot:

    Cissokho – £6.5m
    Vertonghen (Goalscoring defender) – £7m
    Mbiwa – £6m
    Marvin Martin – £8m
    Hoilett – Free
    Barnetta – free
    Diame – Free
    Steven Fletcher/Young striker – £4m

We were linked with Cissokho yesterday. There is no way that he’ll sign for Everton. Please see the below link:

Eh? Nico and fatman, EXACTLY what I was gonna say.

Most of the team will be foreign soon. I would love some of the young English kids to come through, I really would. I’m not against foreigners playin for the toon as long as theyre good just seems less and less English players.

I hope we get Clyne but alas, Dannyo, pardews hint about cabayes mate makes me nearly certain it will be debuchy. As long as he’s good I will not mind I guess.

Surely Cabs has more than 3 footballing mates, maybe it’s not Lille at all. Someone he gets along with really well in the national team?

I don’t know mate, i’m guessing. Perch, Debuchy, Clyne, Tavernier fighting for RB next season? Would Clyne and Tavernier accept those conditions?

I agree he will have more mates but that comment just makes me think it will be him.

Well, we know perch can and will play anywhere. I think tavernier will have one more season on loan. I would much prefer clyne but I can’t see it happening.

On a slightly different note I’d love to see ferguson getting more games too.

M’biwa is in my view the best option we have been linked with at CB. Captain of Montpellier at a very young age with tremendous ability adaptability and leadership skills.
Debuchy is more of an unknown as I have not seen him play but if he is France’s right back he must have talent and Cabaye wants him here so I would be shocked if he was not top quality and he can also play in midfield.
I must say I thought Santon would play right back next season.
Taking time off work to watch the France v England game and hope Debuchy plays a lovely one two with Cabaye and then flicks it to Hatembomb, who beats six England players before back heeling it into the net.

i would go out on a limb and say that this could possibly be the best toon defense EVER if we got them as we would hardly concede a goal and would be able to keep possession as well sort of like swansea but with a purpose!

The two for 11mill would be great business. But a couple of english prospects like Clyne, Dunk, Maguire, Rodriguez or Matt Phillips would be nice.

He’s been mentioned on the blog, but no rumours of us being back in for Barnetta. And Corgnet maybe. Hard to tell who we are after but it passes the time.

Well, one can not just exclude Perch after this season can u. If he’s in the squad next season, he’ll be battling it out, and knowing AP, he’ll play too. Cups, Europe, etc.
He was chosen over Tav, so it’s quite clear its a very realistic option.
