Romain Amalfitano Will Need Time To Settle In At Newcastle

Romain Amalfitano became the first player announced by Newcastle United to be joining the club this summer.

Romain Amalfitano – will take time to settle in on Tyneside

And it turns out that Newcastle have been watching the player over the last two years, so here’s a lad who has been plucked out of the French second division, and joining 5th placed Newcastle in the Premier League – but he looks a good player.

Former Newcastle left back Olivier Bernard knows Romain, and has talked to the local press about him today, and he certainly thinks Romain can become a very good player on Tyneside:

“I know Amalfitano well and he is a real talent. He’s raw, but there is an awful lot of ability there so I’m glad Newcastle have signed him.”

“My hope is that he can be as good as Cabaye and I believe he has a chance of doing that because he is similar in terms of his style of play.”  “He is a great passer of the ball, very skilful, clever and likes to join in with the attack.”

“But I believe that won’t happen right away because he will need time to settle into his new surroundings, and what is a big step up to the English Premier League from the French Second Division.”

“If the fans show some patience then I’m confident he can be as good as Cabaye. It just might not happen right away.”

If this lad turns out to be anything like Yohan Cabaye he will be a great signing for Newcastle United.

Amalfitano can play in central midfield or out on the right, and we suppose at a pinch he could also play on the left wing, so he seems like a good acquisition for the club.

Newcastle are very good at the way they now handle new players coming in, and it will be much easier for Romain, with so many Frenchmen  already at the club.

Certainly he looks good in video, and it must be an exciting time for the youngster, and here is a YouTube of the lad playing – and scoring some goals too.

And we have a sneaking suspicion that Newcastle may have tied up the signing of  another Frenchman – Yohan Cabaye’s big pal, Mathieu Debuchy of  Lille – and that would be another great signing for Newcastle.

Here’s hoping. 😀

as for ba, if we have to lose a ‘star’ player id choose him, made litle impact on the secnd half of the season and the easiest replce. id prefer him to leave rather than krul or tiote. however i do thank him for the first of the season.

    I thought Lowinski was rejected?

I can’t really ever see Gosling doing anything, but maybe Obertan could still surprise us as I was amazed at his stats for assists.

    Smith
    Loven
    Gosling
    Guthrie
    Best
    Simpson

    Ins

    Debauchy
    M’Biwa

    Vuksic

i think gosling may actually come good, i dont see why everyones on his back…. he made a bold move comin to us n it hasnt worked so well cos of injuries/lack of chances. if he stays fit he’ll get more chances this year. and we’ll see the player that we were all happy to see join the club…

i think amalfitano will be a ribery type player…. just puttin it out there…hes slight but can take a player on either side n play a killer ball/shoot. i think he’ll edge out obertan this year. (who may still come good!!)

i dont think he’ll take a cm role; after cheik n yo we got gosling, vuckic, abeid + maybe one more, all raring to go next season n i bet at least one of them steps up big time.

defensive targets can’t be called, id be surprised if we get 1 thats been linked heavily although pards hint on debuchy seems telling, the euros might price him out of our budget tho.

    1st team next year…

    krul
    debuchy. taylor/yanga(fingers crossed). colo. santon
    cheik. cabaye. jonas.
    benny. cisse. marv.

    2nd team (europa/cups)
    krul
    tav. willo. taylor/young cb. raylor.
    abeid. vuckic. gosling
    obertan. ba. amalfitano.

i think thats 2 pretty strong teams….. which is needed.

Tav will come on well, no doubt about it. u still got sammy, who should get games n improve. those teams only include debuchy, an a older n younger cb. thats 4 signings including amalfitano, 2 to go into the first team.

if we keep our players expect no more than a few shrewd signings.. which is all that is needed!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion we need a handful of players to come in. Due to the amount of reserves that were released it either means that a lot of 16/17 year olds will make up the reserve team. Leaving our youth team quite bare or some of the first team squad will need to drop in and play games.

This alone will leave our squad very thin. Add onto that the amounts of games we will have to play if we have a good cup run or 2 plus Europa run. No player except for krul will be able to cop with the physical demands of that schedule, even krul would struggle because of it being almost 2 games a week.

In my opinion we need a striker for certain. Ba(if he stays) and cisse are both set to miss start of season for Olympics but will also be doing Ramadan and I think everyone thought we had signed a player worse than shola when ba played his first couple. And then of course the ACON is again this season going to steal our players.

Debuchy n pieters will both be signed for defence. Probably a CB too and then I think we need another CM. of course money is a problem as we don’t want to shell out too much on players for it to back fire. Barnetta and other frees would be a good signing if his wage demands aren’t too high
