We supposed our popular Ivory Coast International Cheick Tiote didn’t check with manager Alan Pardew, before saying today that he thinks Newcastle can do even better next season. 😀
Chieck Tiote – in action against Chelsea
It seems that Alan Pardew, probably for good reason, is trying to tamp down expectations of the supporters for next season, given the season just completed was absolutely fabulous in almost every area for Newcastle United.
We finished 5rth top and a lot of our new players came through big time, and it seems the Magpies now have a good squad on which to further build this summer.
It’s a long long time since Newcastle have been so successful and looked so good as both a club and a team on the field, and we’ve all had to go through hell and high water over the last eight years or so, since Sir Bobby Robson was fired.
But I suppose it makes the feeling even better as we qualified for Europe, and finished above European Champions Chelsea, and we equaled the league position Bobby Robson had us in back in 2004, before he was sacked, because in those days 5th place just wasn’t good enough.
Poppycock.
Cheick Tiote thinks Newcastle can do even better next season:
“We’re happy to be in Europe and now we can rest, then think about next season.” “Everybody needs rest but some of us still have some games for our national teams. That’s football, though, and we’ll still get a break.”
“Last year was great and the win over Man United at home was the best game. That was a good win for everybody. To win against a big team, a top team like that was fantastic.”
“And the Europa League is a good thing because we wanted to get something out of this season. We got Europa League so it’s a good thing.” “It made me happy that we got something and to be playing in the Europa League is good.”
“I hope we can do even better next season – and I think we can.”
This doesn’t sound like a man who wants to leave Newcastle anytime soon, and of course he’s very happy on Tyneside.
We just have to hope that some big club doesn’t come in with a daft offer for him, that Mike Ashley just cannot refuse.
And Tiote will be on International duty this summer, with the Ivory Coast playing World Cup qualifiers against Tanzania and Morocco in June, but currently he is on a break from football, which is good to hear.
We hope to see Tiote still at Newcastle come September, and help the team make his expectations come true for next season.
And we have a warm place in our heart for Cheick, because of the way he is supporting his brothers and sisters back in the Ivory Coast, with the wages he makes on Tyneside.
He’s a really good lad is Cheick.

Comment #244Forgive my ignorence, but can someone please give me the lowdown on the strikers we are linked with? Can any of them play on the left of a 3 pronged attack? Or are they all central/main strikers in which case they wont fit in to the 4-3-3 we had success with in the last part of the season… Im especially thinking of:
Luuk De Jong
Bas Drost
Oliver Giroud

Comment #247Nope, not Boater, I’m Peter Beardsley. Boater and Ruddy I imagine have being whisked away and are being serenaded on a gondola in Venice together, as we type.
You can go through the archives of the site and find out who the oldest poster under a single name is, Valle has staked his claim!

Beardley… NO WAY… If anything we should try to learn from our mistakes. Beardsley is way to nice and soft. Look at Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool, thats the top four and their managers are ruthless and mean when dealing with the hysteria and other clubs and yet caring towards their players till they break their confidence at which point thay will be ruthless again. Strong charecters who has an aura of beleive and repsect is what we need.

Comment #252If Hazard signs for City then that will probably lead to less game time for Adam Johnson: He would be a class signing for us.

Wrong use of ‘their’, it should be ‘there’. Brush up buddy, that’s elementary stuff. Some would say you’re muckem-esque with your limited grasp of the English language.
