There’s news in the Dutch press today that Newcastle are after FC Twente right-back Roberto Rosales.
Roberto Rosales – linked with Newcastle
This is not the first time we have been linked with this player and we had a report out on the lad earlier this month, and Portuguese club FC Porto are also said to be interested in the South ASmerican.
Claudio Barrios is Rosales’ representative, and he has been telling the Dutch media that his client is wanted by Newcastle, and this is what he said:
“Newcastle and FC Porto are two clubs that are closely following Roberto. There is also interest from two German and two Spanish clubs.”
“But the transfer market will be open for a long time and I remind everyone that most deals will be completed in August.”
Alan Pardew will in all likelihood being in another right back this summer, and that could be independent of whether Danny Simpson will be leaving Newcastle for pastures anew in the summer.
The 22 year-old has played for Venezuela 33 times and he joined FC Twente from Gent in 2010, and of course Newcastle scouts have been at a number of FC Twente’s games this season.
Newcastle are said to be interested in center-back Douglas as well as 21 year-old Dutch International striker Luuk de Jong.
And you always have to take what an agent says with a large pinch of salt, because they are trying to make deals for their players – because that’s how they get paid.
Newcastle could well be interested in Rosales, but the question is where on Newcastle’s list of full-backs is he? Roberto has played 84 times for FC Twente over the last couple of seasons with three goals, and he looks a decent enough player.
But we have to think Mathieu Debuchy is Newcastle’s number one choice right back. We hope Mathieu Debuchy is Newcastle’s number one choice right back. 😀
Comments welcome.

Comment #2agent speak for me this! Newcastle are now a name in europe linked with good scouting and finding bargains and gems! Agents are going to be linking us with every player as its a positive link for the player and other clubs may take notice if they think we;re close to signing another cut price wonder!

Comment #3Debuchy has to got to be our first choice for right back. Together with yanga mbiwa and or douglas would make for a very solid back for coupled with santon collo and taylor making a return!
Depth in quality is something we really need to rectify this summer.
Then luke de jong and or rodriguez/rhodes and hoillet, I would be a very happy chappy 😀

Comment #4About previous previous thread,(repost)
Each to their own and all that but I will always remember Smith as the bloke who absolutely slated Rio Ferdinand for joining Man U,and as a FSA signing who never scored a Premiership goal in four years and sat on the bench for a year (sometimes) for 60 grand a week .

Comment #8From this point on, people are going to be disappointed by any other RB we are linked to because they are so sure on Debuchy.

Comment #9Cannot believe that Jack Butland has been called up for England before Fraser Forster. He’s played 20-odd matches in League 2. Forster has consistently kept 20+ clean sheets a season for the last 3 yrs at a higher level?!

Comment #10Does anybody else think that the media just go through old news and reprint them when ever it’s transfer season?

Comment #11Was really hoping he’d get picked so we can get more £ for him if Newcastle do decide to sell. He’d be excellent back-up to Krul but somehow don’t think he’d sit for that, and fair play to him for it

Comment #12@qtoon – sad, but Forster and Hooper will need to move back south if they want to make the england squad! To be fair, they are playing against league 2 standard opposition, I honestly think if you put a huddersfield, sheffield united etc in that league they’d be 3rd after the old firm!

Me and Ober need another recruit for the ugly ranks! So outnumbered these days. Remember when we had such stunners as O’Brian, Carr, Bellamy, Bramble – those were the days.

Was a bit surprised. Shows real contempt for the spl doesn’t it.
He had a reasonable season at Norwich too. I wonder if hodgson is also going to follow the trend of not picking players from the north east.

Comment #16@jayphoto Huddersfield and Sheff Utd are potentially going to be in the championship next yr. League 2 are the likes of Burton Albion and Aldershot! Definitely agree that playing in England helps your cause, but that shouldn’t be the case.
Forster played for Norwich when they were in League 1 2 seasons back and kept 20 clean sheets.. I’m assuming he’s improved since then.. Easily better than Butland

Comment #17Sometimes it’s also about whom the coach sees as a potential future keeper fro England.
Maybe he just don’t see that in Forster? Butland for sure is one for the future.

Comment #19We don’t need a right-back, we need a left back and Cissokho fits the bill. This player sounds good though.

Comment #21I’m really surprised no one in England has made a grab for Forster. He is a good keeper and only not in our first team because we have Krul who is the same age and a better keeper.

M’biwa
Son Heung
De Jong
Diame
Would be delighted with those choices…For me the first two are paramount to eeking out some of the defensive collapses we have had at crucial stages this season. Im grateful to Simmo and Willo but I feel that on bad days they have proven to be particularly weak links.
Saylor will obviously be back but we definitely need a new CB that is worthy of starting straight away. For me M’biwa and Debouchy are the best and most realistic option in terms of moving forward. In quality terms and for financial reasons too.
I personally feel that it will be the same as it has always been. We will hear nothing then suddenly someone we might not expect is signing on. Has worked so far and a good way of doing business..still fun to speculate and dream no? 😉

A little too injury prone and I think we will be priced out of move. Still would be nice though is definitely a quality player.

Comment #25This season Rosales was the 3 best fullback in providing assists. Only Christian Fuchs and Dani Alves did better. So he’s certainly one of the better offensively.
