There now seems a good chance that Demba Ba will leave Newcastle this summer.
Papiss Cisse – no signs Cisse wants to leave Newcastle
And the news coming out of Newcastle, is that they think Tottenham’s interest in their player is genuine, and if Spurs bid the release amount of £7M for the player, there’s little they can do to keep him on Tyneside.
Then Newcastle would have to hope that terms couldn’t be agreed with the player, or that he fails his medical at White Hart Lane.
But with Newcastle unable or unwilling (take your pick), to give Demba Ba a new deal, the Senegal striker seems to be the one that Alan Pardew has said could leave Newcastle this summer.
That’s the bad news, but the good news is that Newcastle are confident they can keep both Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse at Newcastle, with Cheick already telling his agent he does not want to leave Newcastle.
Papiss Cisse is also tied down to a long term deal, but he also wants to stay at Newcastle according to his representatives, and that’s hardly surprising given the way the Newcastle fans have taken to their new number 9.
Both Manchester clubs are said to be interested in Cisse, but it would take massive bids to tempt the Magpies into selling either of these two top players.
Losing Demba Ba this summer may be okay, but any other top star leaving would hardly be welcomed by Newcastle fans.
The striker who will probably be brought in to replace Ba, if he leaves, is said to be 21 year-old Dutch International Luuk de Jong, and he would appear to be a good acquisition for Newcastle, if they can get the young prolific goalscorer to Tyneside for a decent fee.
There’s also a good chance that Leon Best could join Peter Lovenkrands in leaving Newcastle this summer, and if that happens, we think Newcastle will want to bring in another striker, but who that would be is a good question.
If Newcastle only lose Demba Ba this summer, that would be good enough we suppose, and then we’d need to bring in say four or five top players to improve the squad for next season, when Newcastle will be back in European competition once again.
