Newcastle have already identified a number of replacements should some of their top stars leave this summer.
Luuk de Jong – Newcastle top striker target
The player most likely to leave, and we think he will, is Demba Ba, and he will leave for peanuts, if the release clause in his contract of £7M, is activated over the next two months.
Ba himself will get £2.5M and maybe his representatives will take about £2M, so there’ll not be much left for Newcastle.
In fact thiy will just about recover their cost of getting the player on a free transfer, which have been rumored to be £2M paid to his representatives last June.
The player Newcastle have lined up to replace Ba is 21 year-old FC Twente and Dutch International striker Luuk de Jong.
Newcastle scouts have watched FC Twente many times of the last season, and one of their targets is the young striker.
The striker has scored 59 goals in 119 appearances for Twente over the last three seasons, since he signed for them from De Graafschap in 2009.
The transfer fee will most likely be around £7M, or maybe even higher than that but Alan Pardew is reported to have as much as £20M to spend on new players in the summer, and by Newcastle standards these days, that’s a lot.
Twente manager Steve McClaren does not expect to be able to keep his star striker if a suitable bid comes in for the player.
We now expect Demba Ba to leave Newcastle, and probably be headed to Tottenham, and we think if Newcastle can bring in Luuk de Jong for around £7M that would be a good buy and a very good replacement for the Senegal International.
