Newcastle After French Midfielder Who Asks For A Transfer

Newcastle United transfer target Yacine Brahimi has handed in a transfer request at his French club Rennes.

Yacine Brahimi – has asked Rennes for a transfer

Newcastle have been checking all season on this 22 year-old,  and maybe his transfer request is in line with Newcastle going in with a bid for the Frenchman.

Newcastle look to be in the lead to sign the player, who is an attacking midfielder, but German club Borussia Monchengladbach are also expected to bid for the player.

The 22-year-old Brahimi  is of Algerian descent, and  looks to be an exciting prospect, and the lad has played for the French U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 sides, and he has 7 caps at the U21 level.

Brahimi seems a gifted player, so we hope it’s true that Newcastle are in for this lad, and will attempt to bring him to Newcastle.

And for Brahimi’s part he says he wants a new challenge, and of course he would fit in well,  with the growing French contingent Newcastle have at the club.

The 5’9″ tall Paris-born winger started his career at his home town club, PSG, and was there from 2004 through 2006, before he moved to Rennes in 2009, and over the last couple of seasons he has played 48 times for Rennes with 9 goals.

The 22 year-old had an opportunity to represent Algeria in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa two years ago, but he turned down the chance, in the hope he can play for the full France side, the country of his birth, in the future.

Arsenal and Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs on this top youngster, who only turned 22 in February.

We really hope that Newcastle can get this player through the door, and as soon as possible.

Here’s some video of the player in action.

i always lose a bit of respect for players who hand in transfer requests to try and push through a deal. they get offered a lot of money to sign a multi-year contract. then take the pay rise for a year then hand in transfer request. that said transfer request has been handed in so common mike and derek tie up this deal pronto!

@Levi – What like Ben Arfa? Didn’t Cabaye do it as well?

Brahimi is amazing. He’s a quick little bastard. Small, but very tenacious. Smart on and off the ball. A midfield with cabaye tiote and brahimi would leave opponents black and blue after 90 minutes.

I think a lack of loyalty is something in football now and who can blame players.

If you have a chance of more money in your working life you are always going to be tempted.

The only time I find it bad is when a player is at a club they claim to love then jump ship for a payday.

Can’t blame a player though for wanting more money and mainly wanting to play for a bigger club to better themselves.

@Levi player are often asked by the club to hand in a transfer request, if they want to leave, so the club doesnt have to pay them any bonuses etc. Andy Carroll was told to hand in a transfer request before leaving.

Brahimi handed in a request because he wasnt getting enough game time nothing to do with being loyal he just wants to play football and at his age he needs to play so he’s doing whats right for his career..

Also if weve been watching Rennes on scouting missions a hope Carr has managed to run the rule over Kevin Theophile-Catherine, he’s a cracking young defender with bags of potential, he’ll be a star for the french team in a couple of years

Brahimi and Hatem Ben Arfa playing either side of Cisse would be lethal. Also with Marveux fit next season, and Hatem past the worst stage in his career hopefully, we could have some great attacking options. Also having De Jong would be great.

Surely if this player wasn’t getting enough game time at Rennes it would be the same at us too. So if he is wanting to leave for more first team football maybe he wouldn’t come to us. From what I’ve seen he looks very good but if he can’t get a game for Rennes he isn’t ginna walk into our team

gfp13 – It was because he got injured and he was only used as an impact player afterwards, Rennes must of been playing well for him not to get in from the start..

    BTW Possible great friendly news!!!

Oh okay thank you for clearing that up I was a bit worried that I happened to just catch good showings of him. Looked a talented player. If he’s as good as what I’ve seen I’m sure he can make an impact for us

so. does every player who wants to come here , do so because they think ” go to nufc and i am guaranteed a start ” bollicks leave him alone.

He’s not going to just sign for us expecting to start. I’m pretty sure pards will have a good conversation with him about what the plans are for the club and him specifically within the club. Wether he be a starter or if he’s to be bedding in slowly. Contracts talks aren’t as straight forward as here’s what you’re gonna get a week accept or reject. Also him handing in a transfer request does not mean he wants to join us. There could be others in for him

I don’t see the logic in associating handing in a transfer request with a lack of loyalty.
If a player hands in a transfer request, then he will lose out financially.

Surely handing in a transfer request should be seen as a player putting his footballing ambitions ahead of his financial interests?

A simplification, maybe, but I don’t see a lack of loyalty through handing in a transfer request.

I am still waiting for us to make the signings that really counts; a new RB and a new CB.

We only really need to replace Guthrie in the mid and we need a young striker 🙂

Everything else is just a bonus.

Spurs have released Louis Saha. How about we go for him. Give a couple of years contract. Will be a good back up for Cisse. And he’s free.

Good luck to those released by the club specially Lovenkrands I will keep an eye on where he ends up and his career that follows.

This kids meant to be good wouldn’t be asking huge wages am sure and shouldn’t be too expensive though am guessing more than the 2 mill being quoted in some comments

Sign him up! We need more and better backup in that area. Ben Arfa\Jonas\Marveux\Brahimi\Amalfitano\Obertan. Attacking midfield would be sorted. Now, get the same depth in defence, def mid and attack, and it’s starting to look like something. Remember, we are NUFC; we ALWAYS have someone injured for some time. Always. Depth is key and lack of it is the reason we’re not in Champions League next season. DEPTH!!! 🙂

No free transfer this. No fixed release cause either.
    He’ll not be coming, then.
