Good news this morning, as Papiss Cisse has said he just loves it at Newcastle, and wants to stay at the club for many years to come.
Papiss Cisse – after scoring at Chelsea – he looks pleased 😀
Almost all of Newcastle’s top stars are linked with big clubs, including Cisse himself, but it will take big big money to get Cisse out of Newcastle this summer, that’s for sure.
Cisse has scored a phenomenal 13 goals in just 14 appearances for Newcastle this year, since signing from SC Freiburg in January for around £8M.
And he has been a tremendous success at Newcastle, and that’s putting it very mildly, with some of the goals he’s scored being simply sensational.
Papiss is on duty for Senegal right now, but he took time out to say this to Sky Sports today:
“I am very happy in Newcastle and I want to stay there for many years.” “We were close to a Champions League position so next season hopefully we will qualify for that and everyone will taste the Champions League.” “I am looking forward to next season.”
The top striker missed a penalty for Senegal after just 10 minutes in their 3-1 win in the World Cup qualifying game against Liberia on Sunday, which they eventually won 3-1.
“I am disappointed to miss a penalty but the most important thing for us is winning the match.” “Next time I might score again. I am very upset for our fans, but everyone can miss a penalty.”
Papiss Cisse is captaining his country, and a supposed Newcastle striker target, Copenhagen 27 year-old striker Dame N’Doye, played alongside Cisse on Sunday, and scored Senegal’s second goal.
There may be one, or even two players leave Newcastle this summer, but not Papiss Cisse, that will really cause an uproar among Newcastle fans, and Mike Ashley isn’t quite that daft.

Comment #3I think it’s fair to say that every Newcastle fan wants to see Papiss playing in black and white next season. He’s shown so far how sharp he is in front of goal. The only worry if we keep hold of him and Demba is that they’ll both be missing during the ACON, so we could do with some non-African back up. I can’t believe no-one took a chance on him before we did actually. His goalscoring record in the Bundesliga was great considering he was playing for such a poor team.
I’ve got a new blog post on France at the Euros at http://www.extratimeandpenalties.com if you haven’t already seen it.

Comment #7Did anyone see the season review by ESPN? It sucks. They have 3 montages with Man U and City and talk like 50% about them and barely mentions Newcastle at all. Not even Cisse´s goal. And John Champion is commentating most matches..

Comment #8There is no doubt he is a class act and knows where the goal is!!! Even if the ball does take a less than direct route to the back of the net lol.

Comment #9I agree. With the amount of games we’re hopin to play next season Williamson is important. All of our youth an squad players are.

Comment #10If Swansea are willing to pay a couple of million for Williamson we should bite their hands off he’s useless. If we buy a decent centreback and Saylor stays injury free Williamson won’t get a game.

Comment #12No way Taylor will last the amount of games we has to play. Can’t even play a 38 game season. And colo won’t even manage it.
Last season people were complaining because we didn’t have enough centre back options and now with more games people want Williamson sold. He’s a reasonable back up who looked solid against some teams last season. Cost us nothing, costs nothing in wages and dOesnt complain or make a fuss.
Is 2m really worth selling a player like that?

Comment #13Williamson is not useless. He’s good backup. If he was gone and Steven Taylor was injured, who do you think would play CB.

Comment #14Mike W knows the club, the players and the work ethic.
Maybe only a backup, and I think he accepts that – definitely too valuable to lose (at that price).
