Newcastle Goalkeeper £2M Move Decided Next Week

It hasn’t been easy for Celtic to nail down Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster, even though the 6’7″ goalkeeper spent the last two seasons on loan at Celtic.

Fraser Forster – could finalize deal next week

But the deal could go through next week, once Fraser returns from his vacation, and his agent Mark Curtis has said that Celtic CEO Peter Lawwell has put a new offer on the table for the Hexham-born goalkeeper.

Celtic are also after 25 year-old Newcastle striker Leon Best, as we reported today, and that could also drag on as Leon waits to see if some English Premier League clubs may be interested in his services.

Leon’s price tag is the same as Forster’s at £2M, so Newcastle could get £4M in for the two players who are only on the fringes at Newcastle.

This is what Fraser’s agent Mark Curtis had to say about Fraser’s situation today:

“I’ve had a conversation with Peter Lawwell, the Celtic CEO, during which he’s put an offer on the table and I’ll be discussing it with Fraser next week.”

“Fraser has been away on holiday, but is back this weekend and then going to a wedding. I could get hold of him, but it’s not the kind of thing I want to do on the phone.”

“We need to sit down and have a proper conversation, hopefully next week. I’d imagine there are a lot of teams that would be interested in Fraser, but I can assure you we’ve not spoken with QPR or anyone else.”

“We want to see what the position is with Celtic first of all and then take it from there.”  “We want to bring our dealings with Celtic to an end one way or another first of all and before we look at anything else.”  “We’ll have to see what happens early next week.”

We expect Fraser to tie up a deal fairly shortly with Celtic, but maybe Leon Best is better positioned to link up with another English Premier League club this summer.

Fraser has played 94 times on loan at the Scottish Champions.

Being found asleep in Fenwicks window on Saturday afternoon is too good for Ashley.

Its looking very much as if this move suits both clubs and also the Player!

2Mil is a fair transfer fee too! No way he would get in the first team with Krul being the no 1 keeper for us!

It will be nice if we can put some buy out clause.

Unless Forster has the same mindset as Steve Harper he needs a move to the Premiership,I think with the lack of goalkeeping talent in England he could definitely make the England squad with a run of top flight games under his belt, just a shame he’s not happy to play second fiddle to Krul.

TRUE, but if he goes to Celtic he has the opportunity to play CL football, or atleast Europa league every single season. Which I believe he will mot achieve if he played in England, as far as playing for England, it seems a long shot for Frazer, I mean the manager picked a kidd who isn’t even no1 at his championship club over him, that tells U alot doesn’t it.

If Krul gets sold then I’d like to see Fraser stay at the club and get the nr.1 shirt

The big guy will never get an England cap if he stays in Scotland. However, when his own manager doesn’t even rate him, why would the England manager?

Anyone who has seen him regularly for Celtic, though, would admit that he’s a top notch ‘keeper and can only improve with experience and as he gets older.
