Newcastle Now Very Close To Deal For Vurnon Anita

In this new world of Twitter and Facebook,  there is news going around that Newcastle are very close to a deal for Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita.

Vurnon Anita – fee and terms have already been agreed?

The news is that Newcastle  have already agreed a fee with Ajax for the player, and it’s fairly sizable at between £5M and £10M, and terms have also been agreed with the player, Vurnon Anita.

And the announcement from Newcastle could be closer than we think, but with a fee said to be agreed and terms agreed with the 23 year-old – we suppose the next step is for the 3 times capped Dutch International to have a medical on Tyenside.

Anita made the provisional squad for the Euro 2012 Championships, but did not make the final cut of 23, and Holland play their first game today in Group B, when they take on Denmark.

We always have to be careful of  this non-official type news (what’s new?),  but the reports going around are that Anita could become Newcastle’s second summer signing of the summer, and will follow Romain Amalfitano through the door.

But this will almost certainly mean that Newcastle have agreed to sell Ivorian Cheick Tiote, and it’s probably to Chelsea.

And the price that’s been going around is £20M, and that would be a £16.5M gain on the Ivory Coast International, who was signed by Newcastle from Dutch club FC Twente two years ago for £3.5M, after being scouted for several years by Chief Scout Graham Carr.

Cheick has said many times before that he has no desire to leave Newcastle, but in this new world of big business in football, he may not have a choice.

What do you think?

Addition to the squad not a replacement I hope!
Didn’t his agent say they’ll discuss it next week though?

Why when Carr comes out and says we dont have to sell players is it automatically assumed this guy is a replacement for tiote? It irritates me a bit. When we signed Cisse was he a replacement for someone we lost? Errr no. Not every signing we make is a reaction to losing a player.

I can’t see Tiote leaving, Chelsea have Essien,Mikel and Romeu, the latter will be a great player.

Utd won’t pay the money we want.

City and Arsenal have decent players in that position.

Just because we sign a player does not mean we are selling one we are already down on the squad size as it is every mid we sign will not mean Tiote,Cabaye or Ben Arfa are leaving.

Am getting sick of this now like.. How does it mean Tiote is defo going!! Ffs weve lost a DM in smith and another CM in guthrie he can be a replacement for them plus hes a good lb also and he actually enjoys left back apparently.. Tiote wants to stay and will only be sold if we have a massive bid in.. Man utd dont even want him its all paper talk…get a grip man just cos we sign a player doesnt mean our best players will be sold!! We need extra players and he will play alongside Tiote next year.. Only play who i think will leave is Ba

Guthrie and smith off the books and Anita and the French kid in. Over 5 year contracts ashley has saved money if we still had to pay those 2 wages. Why do we think tiotes off?????

This is more than just a rumour, nufcfans have quotes from his agent late last night.
Nothing has been agreed, there’s only been a written bid between £5-10 mill.
    Facts, facts, facts.

IF TIOTE LEAVES:—— “JAIL FOR ASHLEY”
he can’t do that, bringing in players for cheap and then selling him with huge profit will take us nowhere. If we want to move forward, we need to balance our books but also hold on to our star player and make at least one big money moves.

He’s not only a midfielder. He can also play at right and left back so he’ll step in wherever it’s needed. Seems a good signing even if the prize is high. Maybe clubs want more money from us now, when they realize that any player we buy turn out to be a star!

For me tiote is irreplaceable. You don’t get world class defensive mids like him too often. He is just a monster and to loose him would be horrific for morale! Everybody loves mr t!

I’m hopin this other lad is brought in to add a bit of steel, two DM can’t be bad going into a season with a european campaign

If i was Danny Simpson i would say hey im about as good as players such as willo in terms of can do a job cos nothing better at the minute not i play in 1st team so i want to match Colo, cabaye, cisse wages who bring a whole lot more to the table 25k is outstanding offer for a player of his ability.

    I think so too…

for me the backbone of NUFC for the last few years has been Tiote Collo Saylor Jonas

Tiote leaves its like van Persie or Henry leaving Arsenal just not the same….

I think Ashley is smart Tiote can go for no less than 20 mill….

Don’t forget we are moving to a 433 formation – we need 3 central midfielders imo. Jonas isn’t a centre mid – the thinking might be to play Cabaye, Tiote and Anita as the central 3

I really hope he isn’t a replacement dor tiote.

Although the negativity is irritating, it prevents us lot from saying ‘ooh we’re linked with all these players, we’ll have a massive squad and be title contenders!’ Haha it prepares us for the worst, if the stars do leave.

Better to have low expectations, then we will never be disappointed. Anything different will just be a bonus.

Its all about rotation, the more options you have the more secrecy you can add to your unit. If we are expanding as a club and wanting to push on for next season I don’t understand the logic in offloading a superhuman of tiote’s calibre, who is a lynchpin not only on the field but also commands a lot of respect in the stands and round the world, for another lad who’s never pulled on the shirt. Big gamble, and I don’t think ashley or pardew is that daft. Even for 20m. Cos if it goes pear shaped it’ll come back and bite ashley big time!

    THIS IS NOT ASPERS!!

    1. Premiere League
    2. Cup 1
    3. Cup 2
    4. Europe

Players get tired… plus we are already short this season meaning with the same sqquad next season it would mean certain death

Signing Anita is very clever thinking if he can double up as DM/AM and LB. Pardiola loves adaptable players. If we’re upping the quality within the squad then Anita is strengthening not replacement. 4-3-3 with Anita Cheik and Yohan – all top level internationals in midfield. What a prospect for us !!

It’d provide much more competition for Jonas too.

If Ed is right then we are doomed to second level EPL football forever.

    Really love Chiek.
    Don’t want him to leave.
It’s not just his football – it’s his contribution to the team work ethic and moral – how can you put a price on that?
A monster, yet he’s not such a big guy.
More like a terrier snapping at your heels
that a bulldog barging you over.
    .
And yet, last season, we did well enough when he was missing.
Am I alone in thinking he did better the 1st season (despite all the yellows/reds) that he did last season?
