Spurs Will Need To Increase £10M Bid To Get Tim Krul

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be readying a £10M bid for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Tim Krul – going nowhere for £10M

It’s not a secret that Tottenham are keen on the Dutch International goalkeeper, who has been at Newcastle since 2005, and he joined the Tyneside club when he was just 17.

The 24 year-old played every game for Newcastle in the Premier League last season, and was one of the best Premier League goalkeepers,  in his first full season as the Newcastle number one.

But there is no way Newcastle will sell Tim for just £10M, and his selling price will be much higher than that, and the question will be whether Spurs will be willing to bid silly money to get the Newcastle goalkeeper.

Tim has always said his two ambitions in football are to become the Newcastle number one, and then become the Dutch number one goalkeeper, and last season he achieved his first objective.

And if he keeps improving like he did last season,  he should soon be the Dutch number one goalkeeper too.

And there’s  a problem – because  Tim would hardly be willing to become the back-up to Brad Freidel at Spurs for any length of time, given Tim is already one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Tim served his time behind both Shay Given and Steve Harper on Tyneside, before emerging as the clear number one goalkeeper last season,  and it would be a step back to become a back-up goalkeeper again.

Newcastle could let Tim go, but the price would be closer to £15M or even £20M,  but he would be a big loss if Newcastle decide to sell their goalkeeper, who has often said he only wants to play for Newcastle United.

And with the long-term manager at Spurs still uncertain, we wonder how Tottenham can bring in any players to the club, until they offer Harry Redknapp a new deal at the club, or bring in another manager.

What do you think?

If there is one player who NEWCASTLE won’t be able to replace then it is TIM KRUL.

I hope his head isn’t turned, but why should it, they only finished a place above us.

10 mil is not nearly enough for Tim.

As mentioned on previous thread Michel Vorm would make an excellent replacement for Tim although I do think this Tim to spuds is just a load of old b**lix.

I personally think there is not a lot to choose from between TK and MV and as such if the spuds deal did happen I think the money for Tim would more that cover any bid needed for Michel.

In all honesty if TK’s head was turned by money then I feel we would not be taking a step backwards in going for MV as he has a better international c.v. than TK and reminds me of Given in lots of ways.

Ryan Toon, the Cabaye tweet will not be a new signing, its the club who makes those announcements not the players, the chances are he will announce that he is off to Man Utd, sorry for being a doom monger but would it be a suprise

Personally, I feel that if we can pick Debuchy up, we would have a better starting line-up than Tottenham. Harry purchased a team for instant success. Parker is 31, Van Der Vart 29, Piennar 30, Defoe’s almost 30, Friedel’s 41.

They need to pick up 4 high quality signings this summer to compete for top 4 (theyve almost nailed down vertonegn) that’s a lot of spending for a club that already has a large expensive squad.

Tottenham trying to convince themselves that they are a big club by bidding on other PL teams players. From history we know that Tottenham isn’t that type of club.

When will some of you on here understand that Ashley doesn’t NEED to sell and, even more importantly doesn’t WANT to sell any of our top players?

There is as much chance of Krul going for £10M or even £15M as there is Tiote, Cabaye, HBA, Cisse or Colo. Ashley’s ‘every player has a price’ is a very clever way of scaring other clubs off. Why? Because they know Ashley’s price is mega bucks. I’ve said on here umpteen times that Ashley was the only one of Pardew, Llambias and Charnley to turn down LPool’s £30M offer for Carroll and insist that £35M in cash or’ F OFF’ was his answer.

No way are any of our top players going for less than £20M and in Cisse’s case £30M. And even at those offers Ashley might not sell. Fans should just calm down and let journalists (and Ed) sensationalise the transfer rumours because 99,9% of what’s written is sheer fantasy.

Bills-Son… You speak sense as always, although im intriqued to hear how you know that stuff about who said what when the Carroll offer came in? That have never been public knowledge, so do you have some inside info mate?

Regarding Krul, he is simply irreplaceable (No one truly are, I realize, but as close to as we get) in the sense that we cant be sure to get a good replacement… Vorm would be good yes as would Al-Habsi, but how can you be sure that we will be able to get any of them? They might ask for more than 10 million and it would have been a bad deal. The question here isnt, how much are Krul worth? The Question is, how insane values are you ready to present spurs? At least it should be, and as Bills-Son said, MA aint a bad businessman, in fact he is anything but, so if Krul are to be sold you can be damn sure that he knows what he is doing.

I think Carr made that comment about MA and the transfer haggle originally, not son of Bill.

They used to put ridiculous price tag for their own players to scare away other clubs so just do the same with £50M for Tim Krul.

Ahh ok, it sounded a bit like Bills-Son had some info there… Many people claim they do these days, and I guess that one are bound to actually speak the truth at some point. But that was a Carr quote? Hmm i thought i had read them all, but there was so many that looked quite alike that I could have missed one I guess… I would love a link to that article if someone has one.

Was ridiculous when 15m was mentioned…would be the most shocked if he left this summer over anyone else. The more I think on it I feel the same way as those that feel that we are likely to make a big sale. Only two windows I can remember where that hasn’t happened. Krul for me is the least likely.

valle – I’ve never seen a Carr quote on the AC transfer. I have got inside info, I know the agent of one of our top players and he told me. He doesn’t tell me much but he told me before the end of the season that Best would be on his way and apart from a full back and CH we would sign a DM as cover – not to replace – Tiote.

He also says Ashley and Llambias are great guys, very professional to work with and fully committed to NUFC. Exactly what Pardew, Beardsley and Carr have said.
