Newcastle are keeping an eye on the situation of midfielder/defender Victor Wanyama at Celtic.
Victor Wanyama – wants a move to England
Newcastle were linked with the Kenyan midfielder within the last week, but other clubs such as Liverpool, Stoke, QPR and West Ham are also said to be interested in the player, who cost £900K when he arrived north of the border last summer, from Belgian side Beerschot AC
Celtic could well find it hard to hold onto their top young player, who plays defensive midfield or center-back, although he is said to be happy enough at Celtic.
The player’s agent Rob Moore had this to say to Sky Sports:
“That has been a lot of talk which is not necessarily true,” “But he is like any other young talented footballer in that he wants to play at the highest level.”
“He has made the club aware that if they receive an offer from one of the big leagues he would like them to consider it.”
“He is not unhappy at Celtic, far from it – he loves the club and everything has been great for him since he moved but should something come in he feels they should listen.”
Celtic are in the unenviable position that if they get a player who turns out to be really good, he is prone to want to move south to the Premier League, which is the richest sports league in the world and currently the top football league in the world.
And the 18 times capped Kenyan says he wants to move to the Premier League from Scotland after just one season up there, which is hardly surprising.
Newcastle were linked with this player as far back as May of last year, according to our records, and the 20 year-old 6’2? tall player appeared 44 times for Celtic last season, and scored four goals
We don’t know how strong the Newcastle interest is in this player, and of course it will also depend on what fee Celtic will ask for the 20 year-old.
But he seems to be one to watch.

Comment #4id say best and forster + £3m would be a good deal for all. Wanyama and tiote holding gives cabaye more freedom, he can be the creative midfielder, id rather sign a quality left winger, two fir sale are afwlley

Comment #6id say best and forster + £3m would be a good deal for all. Wanyama and tiote holding gives cabaye more freedom, he can be the creative midfielder, id rather sign a quality left winger to be part of our holy trinity with hba and cisse than to sign a centre mid, two for sale are afelley and elia, only problem is wages. Can a deal be struck?
