Chelsea Ready To Snatch Debuchy From Newcastle’s Grasp

News in the Daily Mirror today that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to snatch Lille and French International Mathieu Debuchy,  from his proposed move to Newcastle.

Mathieu Debuchy challenges Jolean Lescott last Monday

It has been believed that Debuchy would be on his way to Newcastle this summer, but the Tyneside club’s failure to sign him up on a deal before the Euro 2012 Championships could cost Newcastle dearly.

Chelsea are likely to come in and pay Lille whatever they want for their player, if this news is accurate..

And the wages Cheslea can pay Debuchy are higher than what he would get at Newcastle.

Of course this all assumes the report in the Mirror is true, and from what we’ve seen in the news recently, it seems that Roman Abromovich wants any good player who moves – and doesn’t the manager at Chelsea get any say in these deals  – probably not.

The 26 year-0ld right-back had been expected to move to Newcastle this summer, but with his outstanding display against England last Monday night, and with this more than competent display against the Ukraine tonight in France’s 2-0 win, he has turned heads – for sure.

Chelsea have let one of their right backs, Jose Bosingwa, leave the club, and they will want to bring in a right back to replace him, so maybe it’s true they are interested in the Frenchman.

And there’s news that Branislav Ivanovic, who has played right-back many times at Chelsea, prefers only to play at center-back from now on.

Maybe the Chelsea interest is why Newcastle were reported to have put in an early bid of 5M for the French International – which we reported tonight – but it will be very difficult to win a head-to-head race with Chelsea for the French international.

What do you think?

Suggest we move on to the next RB on the list, seems we have blown this deal.
Perhaps his mate cabs will follow him to Chelsea.

It pisses me off that MA is gambling on a world class player by putting forward 5m. Try 8m and you may atleast have a chance. Try playing hardball and watch another team i.e Chelsea come and pick him up and drive the fcuk to Stamford bridge while we sulk about the one that got away

Why do all these Media Bullshit stories not surprise me!

The Daily Mirror are just trying to sell Newspapers! Although a 5Mil bid is way too low! Plus Chelsea do have more financial Clout than we do!

We need to stop advertising exactly which players we are targeting, if we don,t then the so called rich clubs in the Prem are going to be Poaching our prospective signings by outbidding us every time!

Hope there is no truth in this Debuchy rumour!

Newexpatmagpie hope has the club advertised this. There has been no statement from Pardew or the club just rumours. Then a statement from their club saying we had made a bid but it was too low. I doubt very much we did that bid recently so it may be we went for him as soon as the season finished trying to do it on the quiet and Lille have decided to hold out and see how his euros go. He has done well so it is within their interest to come out and say “Yeah Newcaslte already bid 5 mill and we told them where to go” as it means they can set the bidding.

My limit for the player would be closer to 10Mil !

Debuchy is playing well for France but if Yohan or Ben Arfa have any influence on the situation remains to be seen !

It is,nt so much the Club advertising prospective signings i guess! But just the Media trying to sell Newspapers!

But it would not surprise me if we bid say 8Mil for Debuchy only to be outbid by another club! Of course Lille are going to take the highest offer and his wages at say Manure or Shitty would be higher than we would be prepared to pay !

It would be a great signing for us but i think we may have missed this one!

Chelsea are very close to wrapping a deal up for Van der Wiel?
Sounds like complete and utter bullcrap from the press as per, Debuchy has an 8m release clause so any bidding would be futile!

As davybtoon says its no good having the best scout in the world ( Carr ) if his findings are plastered all over the net, so other clubs with more cash can pick our pockets for the deals. Sites like this are great for most things to do with the toon but for transfers its deadly like all the others. It may cause concern if there is no transfer news ( M.A’s policy and its a great one IMHO ) but the heart ache that is about to ensue over Debuchy if true should be a classic example of what NOT to do/say/publish.

shouldnt come as a surprise to anyone , unless the FCB can sneak players in under the radar cheap as chips there is no deal . As soon as other clubs come sniffing around and are prepared to pay decent money we are immediately out of the picture . Its not gonna change so forget all these big names we are continually linked with . Bottom line is FCB will continue to take his £30m a year out of the club to recoup his losses and will then sell and the sooner that day arrives the better for everyone

ArtyH – what you have to remember is that Ed picks up on newspaper/internet rumours and reports them – for our information and comment.
It doesn’t mean these guys are our real target.
Previous history shows that, usually, they are not.
Shame in the case of Debuchy, as I would really like him to join.
BUT – if another club matches our bid (easy) and offers higher wages (also easy) then the majority of targets will choose the other club.
That’s life, at the mo’ with NUFC.
And it has served us well enough to not complain at getting more of the same.

TIC – problem is others have now wised up to our scouting system and even if GC does continiue to unearth these players its not going to be a case of us signing them without anyone realising whats going on – other clubs will immediately take an interest and given our pathetic transfer budget we will only end up with French league 2 players

Its disgraceful that a club of our size , with huge support and a filthy richer owner , cannot compete in the transfer market

thing is MH it wont continue , suppose you are cool with SDA and the place looking like a tacky SD shop , as well as the lies being fed to the fans by Lamchop ie the club made a loss last season , it takes a year to sign a player , all the Caroll money will be reinvested etc etc . And you win f all with financial stability , you need investment like all the clubs who actually win something have – and its not as if the FCB cant afford it!
